  1. Agree. But most of the credit has to go to Dawes himself. Presumably he had a positive relationship with Neeld and wanted to join him at Melbourne. There is absolutely no evidence that Dawes has 'sooked it up' since Neeld left.

That's because he is a intelligent, professional footballer who gives his all for the club. Unlike another ex Demon who sooked it up when things didn't go his way.

Dawes is part of the new culture at Melbourne, the old culture is quickly being eradicated.

  2. If we are to protest, is Jack likely to be given a longer sentence ?

If so surely it is up to him whether he wants risk being a martyr for the club.

It's easy for us fans to demand a protest we have nothing to lose.

The club need to work out what is best for Jack before making any decision.

  3. thought of that myself.

but then remembered that one of the 30 personalities was a good bloke and gave some interesting info every now and then.

thought the best way to cull demonland is to get rid old buggers over 60.

    Steady on there!!

What would us old guys do with our time if not for Demonland.

It's the only thing keeping me from going senile.

  4. Oh Rob, what have we done to offend you?

Climbing the fence and entering the arena is illegal Robbie boy. I suppose it is a little like coming on here and bagging us from the safety of your computer. Demonland member since 8:56 this morning mmmmmm. I would rather gouge my eyes out with a McDonalds hot apple pie than follow Collingwood.

If you want high spirited argument with like minded supporters you can have some fun here, but I wouldn't recommend swinging too hard and too often you may end up being treated like a Collingwood supporter.

    Edit;Spelling

Demonland is like a living thing, it has lots of antibodies fighting one another for superiority of opinion, but add a new foreign antibody and Demonland unites to fight the evil.

  5. Our percentage this year is 67.3 against 56.1 last year after round 6 .

The more interesting stat is that after 6 rounds this year we have conceded at 80.5 points per game. Last year at the same stage we had conceded 140 points per game and at seasons end 122.3 points per game.

I know we are still not winning games but I believe that the tide may be turning and Roos influence is starting to show.

  6. I know we're all a bit jumpy about this, but that suggestion is just silly.

Not sure why you think it is silly.

I wasn't suggesting this as a punishment just as a way for him to rebuild some confidence in his own abilities.

Giving him the opportunity to show what he is capable of against lesser players and building his confidence.

At the moment he looks like a player who has no confidence in himself at all.

Did you see him last night, even when he had the ball he seemed scared to kick.

  7. Was at the game today and agree about Howe and Watts.

What I can't believe us how Frawley is not being added to these two.

He was disinterested right from the first quarter, did not chase or man up at any stage and went half hearted for his marks.

He is another from the 186 day who needs to be gotten rid of.

We will never move forward as a team until the players who think it is their right to play for Melbourne and not a privilege are all gone.

On the other side of the coin you have less talented players giving their all for the jumper.

  8. Josh Kelly spent how many weeks in the reserves before his debut? If Salem is up to it he plays. If he's found out after a few weeks he goes back to the VFL.

The big difference being that Salem's preseason was interrupted by a thyroid condition from which he lost something's like 7kgs.

The coaching staff may think he is not yet match fit. The game on the weekend was his first run as an inside mid, he would probably need more than one run in this position to attain enough match fitness to play firsts football.

  9. It seems that Salem's fitness is improving to the stage where he is now capable of playing as an inside mid at Casey.

I would think another 2 games playing in the middle and continuing his good form would see him in the side for the Bulldogs game at the MCG.

  10. This has shitted me for years WYL. When you look at what our blokes have produced over the last few years compared to almost anyone else and yet they get the same 10 mill or so shared around. There was an old saying about your hand shaking on payday (ie you didn't earn it). There's a few of our blokes who should have permanent tremors.

Maybe you have hit on the reason our players fumble the ball so often.

  11. Just looking through the list and who appears to have improved this year under Roos.

In my assessment only players out of the 32 left from last year who have shown significant improvement are N.Jones, Dawes, Viney, Frawley, Dunn & Pederson. That leaves 26 who are on an equal basis or have gone backwards.

If we are to win games we need some of the remaining players to show major improvement.

  12. I can see the benefit of that policy. 30 plus performances in consecutive games would generally get you a gig. Maybe that is a good thing.

If he does it again this week and there is a spot for him in the seniors I am sure he will be considered next week. Roos has stopped the revolving doors and is trying to develop a team that is not scared that if they stuff up a couple of things they won't automatically be dropped.
  13. Still can't work out how Jimmy T is not back in the side, after his performances with Casey.

He still needs to improve his contested ball and tackling. Roos will have him working on this side of his game, he is a young player, plenty of time for him to improve at Casey. There was only 1 vacancy in the firsts and Jetta had earned that spot with his performances over many weeks. Suddenly we are building a culture where players aren't gifted easy games in the firsts, they have to earn them over and over again at Casey.

  14. Nothing.

In my opinion, as a poster on this forum, sharing in a footy debate, I don't reckon he's good enough for AFL footy.

That may well be the case, I guess we will have more idea tomorrow afternoon if he has improved enough. This is also a statement from Roos to the rest of the players that you need to perform at consistent level at Casey if you want to get a run in the firsts. Jetta deserves his chance after multiple good performances at Casey.

  15. Stronger teams 'best performed' is sometimes two seasons.

He's played 2 games and he gets a call up?

I think that if Terlich doesn't come up, Jimmy T should get a call up. He's the future.

If you take into account the practice games it's actually 4 games. I think Jimmy T needs to play more game to boost his confidence in his own ability before he regains his place. Make him hungry for his next chance and super confident that he deserves his place.
