Of course I do Curry; but sometimes watching a thread devolve into a case of school yard "he said - he said" point scoring and finger pointing does not really add much to the experience.

This just seems like point scoring and hairsplitting for the sake of it.  But you give it your best shot;  I am sure that you don't need my permission.

"......Closes laptop and does something useful with his life"

its so true. often we see someone take a ridiculous position or make a ridiculous statement in the "heat " of discussion that no doubt at any other time they would not make, but instead of retracting or moving on , they consume enormous amounts of time and energy defending this position. this then turns in to a [censored] for tat that destroys the thread.

this exact example is currently happening on another thread. its so clear the poster has "shot from the hip" but now has dug themselves in such a hole arguing "different shades of brown". this is pretty much the biggest thread destroyer there is

Let us hope his footy career gets back on track for the next ten years so society can be spared from his financial career if it ever happens. He is a better person surely than becoming a financial parasite on the community.

Is that you, Michael Moore? ;)

I don't think he was comparing their physiques but rather stating the fact that Lockett's about the same height as those two.

Nobody really doubts Lockett's attributes. After all, he and Jason Dunstall won Brownlow Medals and kicked plenty of tons.

The way the game's changed, key forwards these days need to be taller than Lockett's 191cm but Plugger would still be a great footballer today because of his strength and skills.

if plugger was playing today id chuck him in the middle at ball ups  as a pinch hitting clearance machine!

    He doesn't deserve anything

he should have stopped playing with an injured foot long before he did..

I normally agree with you WYL but this is a poor post. Trengove was under immense pressure to carry the club he stood up for. When Scully legged it Trenners responded by signing on. No doubt him continuing to play was also political as far as Neeld and co attempting to save their skins. Trengove was a 20yr old caught up in a storm of shite

From the training sessions i've been to, this is as good as i've seen Jack move, i didn't really see him in his first two years but he just looks so much quicker and more powerful

Trengove is a massive plus for us if he can get up and going. A real talent. the club needs a flag but Trenners, Grimes and Jones holding that cup would be massive.

  6. some people think that if a player walks off the ground in rd 23 as an average list clogger then all we have to do is talk about him all pre season and then in rd 1 he will be a gun. then they scratch their heads wondering why he "didn't come on".

Bugg and kennedy were let go for a reason. Melksham at essendon was erratic at best.

Viney and salem are very good players.

it may come off as negative but i just like to be honest when analyzing players

I really fear for people like yourself and munga and old dee. When we starting winning more than we lose, what will you do? The negativity from you guys is unrelenting. Maybe our ascent will coincide with North Melbourne's decline and you can follow them in an attempt to get your fill of doom and gloom. It's almost as if you're not happy unless you're unhappy. Roos was hired to do more than simply coach a team. He along with Jackson, Bartlett, Taylor and Mahoney have significantly altered the culture of the MFC. We are a professionally run club with a healthy focus placed on training habits, leadership, competitiveness and a team-first culture. Roos has made these areas his focus. If you can't see where we're going from here, I feel sorry for you. Our CEO is one of the best in the business. Financially we're far more sound with increased footy dept spending. Our coach is a proven architect and shaper of footy club culture. The positivity coming from the player group about Goodwin is incredible. Taylor keeps picking aggressive, skilled, athletic footballers at both ends of the draft. We have elite talent that is on brink of being realized. Now is the time, to buckle up and enjoy the ride. The love for Roos isn't unconditional, but the criticisms are focused on his pay packet, match day performance and contributions to our training sessions. I don't care how much he gets paid if the aforementioned culture is on the improve and we continue to post profits. I could easily find fault with his game day decision making but in the long term I'm more interested in the development of culture and the unearthing of quality footballers. And finally, the direction of most sports with increasing staff sizes is for the head honcho to oversee more and more and provide less hands on attention. Roos is clearly in big picture mode and Goodwin is running the gameplan side of things. And gameplans are honed during training. It makes sense that he is running the show on the training paddock. It seems to me at least that the transition with McCartney overseeing everything is working beautifully. As supporters we're not used to transitions. As Melbourne supporters we're not accustomed to being a part of cutting edge footy dept thinking. This is what it looks like.

Roos has been fantastic for the club. have never disputed that. just not sold on last years(2015) trade and draft. the pickings were slim. good players aren't convinced yet.

Ive never owned rose colored glasses. always call things as i see it. vince, brayshaw, hogan, vine, vanders, salem, i considered all positive pickups as i observed at the time. oliver, bugg, kennedy, melksham, not convinced at this stage. I've never loved a player just because he becomes a demon, like some do on here.

Bit early to make those calls I would have thought. Give the new recruits and draftees a chance before claiming they don't improve the list.

And if the kids improve for 2016 then we've made the improvement we need.

MFC was a bit like  an old woman at a Boxing Day Myers Clearance sale last October. I know its early and maybe ill be surprised. Cant see it to be honest. This time last year and after Vince pick up I could see it. this year not so much. Lets hope I'm wrong.

I agree in parts RJay, yes players have been shown the door but there's still a long way to go.

Players don't turn up every week to play. Against Carlton it was 6 goals to 1 in the first then 10 goals to 2 at half time, against bloody Carlton. Players are still waiting for a directive from the coach, I want to see players call each other out, they have to demand more from each other. They have to fight out every game even if a loss is inevitable.

There'll be more of that this year. List hasn't improved this offseason. Trade week scatter-gun. Not convinced with draft either. not sure too many clubs will say 2015 was a good draft.

  10. Has any club in the history of Australian professional sport had a run of bad luck like the MFC?! Is there any club that has been less able to get all its top draft picks on the park? Has any club had more premature deaths, career ending injuries, club scandals? It could just be a month but seriously what the F%&* is wrong with this club? What did we do ??

Quality stuff as always "ProDee". For someone with such apparent disdain for everyone here you really do get yourself worked up. Now you have BBO buddying up to you, that should tell you something of the level you've managed to reach. How sad for you.

Stuie, you're a crap read with a hangover. I realize you're the resident blowhard but give it a rest. you're boring as f*&%

Watts was off to Carlton before Roos signed. Let's cut the crap, for the last time Watts is in the top two users of the footy and has a great footy brain, so an extension of that is people can stop blaming Bailey/Neeld. Roos backed himself to turn around the one thing missing from Watts game, his attack on the footy/ball carrier. Roos along with the rest of the football world now know it's an aspect of his game that will never change. As for the asking price, like in any negotiations you always ask for more than you realistically expect, so no one even offered a second round pick. Watts is never going to impact a final. Let him go at years end and we all move on. We got this one wrong.

the best summation of the jack watts situation that I've read.

    Seriously?

If a normal bloke had have gone up to Martin there may have been a confrontation, maybe even a scuffle.

If a big burly Islander bouncer had gone up to Martin and told him to pull his head in he probably would've.

On this occasion, a female took it upon herself to do it (just like the woman at Subiaco oval) and got threatened to be stabbed in the face with a chopstick.

    Make sense?

It does make sense as thats how the animal kingdom works unfortunately. Easy for a weak bloke to threaten a woman. Very wrong .

Yes yes, it's all a massive conspiracy put out there by the mob that brought down the twin towers and claimed a plane had been flown into the Pentagon.  Unless you have conclusive evidence that this is a scam, then you are none the wiser than those of us who may not be convinced either way, but all the same, would rather not wait until it is too late.

You're right, i should've included it was "in my opinion". Im not a conspiracy theorist but this one reeks of it . Nevertheless I think we should be doing our best to protect the environment for the future. But this, from what I've read is going to be a massive reappropriation of western tax payers dollars, under the guise of saving the planet.

  15. This is a real stiff call considering he really has only played one AFL game and got caught out 3-4 times in complete no mans land resulting in opposition goals. Whilst he definitely gave a great showing of himself, Grimes is still ahead of him and rightly so seeing as a long term injury is the only way he will be getting a game and it is unlikely the club will promote him ahead of Viv Michie.

Grimes problem is he doesn't have the core strength to be able to stand up in a contest and assert control over a disputed ball. Too often he is caught doesn't haven't have the physicality to force the contest in melbournes favor. I love his courage though and occasionally does some fantastic stuff

  16. Like many others have said, 2016 is a big year for the MFC. Trading away our future first round was a statement despite next years crop is touted as a 'super draft'. We have a lot at stake here.

The club has bet the farm on 2016.

    Biggest year in living memory.

Hogan will be fielding serious offers at the end of 2016. There must have been considerable improvement if we are any hope of keeping him.

We need improvement so as to attract a free agent and make prestia determined to come to mfc.

Every game is going to feel like a final for me. Going to be a long year!!

  17. He played 20 games this year, despite the fact every year of his last 4 has been labelled "make or break" by the same Demonland posters every time.

Everyone just wants to make definitive statements like "next year is make or break" or "next year will be his breakout year".... Maybe he's just a decent player and that's it. He's not a "spud" he's not a star, he's just a decent player. Everybody wants to be the tough guy on an internet forum going a hard as they can to one extreme or the other, and you're definitely the epitome of that.

    Pot. Black. But amusing. Thanks

  18. There's no way Melbourne will match any offer for watts next year unless he completely changes his game...can't see it happening.

So I think we can be pretty sure, 2016 is watts last year in the red and blue , regardless of his personal career come 2017.

Let's enjoy the final year of this most controversial journey
