  1. SEN Saturday night post match is a must listen. A quick wrap up cut short by a pre-recorded ‘gem’ called ‘This Sporting Life’ where largely forgotten sportspeople are metaphorically brought back from the dead (ironically sponsored by Tobin Brothers) But if you’re patient, deep-voiced teenager Damian Watson (whom I can only assume is dating the Valley Girl newsreader mentioned here) adds some immediacy, taking us through the Saturday games with aplomb. And his most prominent caller appears to be ‘Mark from Taylors Lakes’. There was another caller ‘Mike’ who sounded suspiciously like Mark. He was from Patterson Lakes. Mark has views that would make a Qanon conspirator blush. And Damian tackles him head on with acerbic put downs. Perhaps the most biting was ‘Yes, I see your point’. As I say, it’s a must listen.
  2. The one thing this shows is that we cannot allow Geelong too much time on the ball.
  3. There’s a few out there but can’t think off hand of anyone worse.
  4. Just saw Geelong in a nutshell. Guthrie deliberately milking the 50 is how they roll. A bit like how Duckwood plays now. Within the rules but an arseact.
  5. Neal - Bullen - important for us
  6. I'd love to know how Jack Bowey is tracking. Speed and precise kicking may mean he takes the place of Sparrow at some point....yes, maybe not next week.
  7. Can we stop talking like it's won. It's doing my head in
  8. All great teams come to an end. Let's hope this is the beginning of the end for a team that's had more hangers-on than any team in history.
  9. That's where we differ. Whether they played badly or indifferently prior, the non - decision is the prime reason the game went to Geelong. If the umpire doesn't [censored] himself (as so many do down there), that game goes to Brisbane. If I was a Geelong member, I'd be very disappointed that games are now televised there in Prime time. Other than West Coast, there's really no other place that shafts the opposition. And the icing on the cake is that because it's a marginal seat, their facilities are state of art. If you're sensing I dislike these pracks, you're on to something.
  10. Sure Macca, let’s take the luck out of it. The Brisbane player executed a tackle that led to the Geelong player incorrectly disposing of the ball. That’s a skill that, within the rules of the game, should be a free kick. Nothing to do with luck. An umpire decided the game there and then.
  11. 33 degrees, headed in the 4th quarter and facing the normai %hitstoem reception of Deliverance town. One of the better wins in recent times by the Melbourne Football Club.
  12. Maybe so but what was Ward thinking? And, more broadly, I’m looking at GWS, trying to reconcile how there’s no team in Tassie.
  13. And hasn’t he got a relevant prior? Few years back
  14. Watching GWS v Saints. Leon Cameron is a genius. Takes a fair bit of skill to take a Maserati and convert it into a Lada. Even Neeld would have struggled with that.
  15. Have to agree with this. Tomlinson should have been dropped (more than he was) last year. Jetta is now done and Tom McDonald is no longer good enough. If we think Laurie may be the answer at HB, play him in the practice match instead of Jetta. If we want to see where Petty is at, play him ahead of Adam 'The Statue' Tomlinson today. Want to see if Mitch Brown is a better option than McDonald with the faster pace? Play him
  16. Petty has to come in for him, surely. He is just not a good footballer, nor do I believe he will ever be a good footballer. Can't mark, zero presence for someone who is 193cm, zero game awareness and will never be the answer...unless the question is 'name a player we should never have recruited?'
  17. Very few games where he hasn't. A complete lack of intensity. The one player I struggle with.
  18. Not having a full strength team will hold us in good stead going forward. In previous seasons (correct me if I'm wrong) we've fielded almost full strength sides from the get - go.
  19. Here's the thing. We have a number of good mid - fielders missing so are unlikely to win. Has our backline stood up? Yes PS - My patience doesn't extend to Tomlinson, who I regard as a very, very ordinary footballer
  20. The plus side is that we appear to have a functional defence.
  21. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sorry Randy Macho Man Savage, you were saying?
  22. Thanks for the report DeeSpencer. Your comment re keeping Tomlinson away from good forwards resonates with me. Some will disagree, but I’m of the view that Tomlinson not in the side at all will be a sign of progress. He’s mediocre for mine.
  23. Yes I can LG. He's dropped 1.5 kg in the off - season. Hence he now floats. I think you'll find the science backs me up 100%
