Who do we realistically target for a trade?
Who would you part with to get another first rounder next year?

Who do we realistically target for a trade?
So the conversation is whether we would be a better team with Kelly instead of Hogan. The question I ask which player has the potential to win us a final. I feel Hogan could cause more damage than Kelly. That's nothing against Kelly.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Have no fear. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/how-oscar-mcdonald-has-gone-ahead-of-his-brother-20180912-p503b9.html

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Matthew Lloyd made an interesting comment on the Hogan discussion saying that Weideman would make an ideal CHB with Lever back to being the intercepting 2nd tall. I think this setup has merit and would not be surprised seeing it during pre season (obviously without Lever at this stage).

Changes v Hawthorn - Semi Final
I think Hannan is our x-factor.

Luke Dahlhaus
Has played 17 games this season and kicked 2 goals as a forward and only 5 goal assists. Hmm something's wrong.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Another thing to think about is the seriousness of Jessie's injury....his foot.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I would only be interested if the Dockers actually approached the club with an offer. I would only be interested if that offer was their first round pick and one of their players eg Langdon or possibly Andrew Brayshaw ( I know he has re-signed, but we might give them back a pick). I would then use that first round pick to try and pick up a quality mid like Gaff or Shiels

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
Yeah and they know where Jessie is at. He averaged only 3 votes out of 10. Hunt - 2.9 votes, Watts - 2.6. Even Clarrie averaged only 6 votes out of 10.

Agree.

Lets not get carried away with Petty's highlight reel. Oscar has come a long way in 12 months and the footy department obviously do recognise this.

I would not be replacing Oscar too soon. From what I can see from the highlights they both have similar attributes.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Where is Carlton on the ladder and Essendon are the same with us. So if we were hard nosed there and no trades were done would you be happy? I bet not. And don't say that Adelaide would have buckled and given what we originally put forward. It wasn't going to happen. The market said Lever was valued at 2 1st round picks. Same with JW. His market value was only a 2nd round pick. As for next years 1st round pick we can deal with that later. No doubt we will try trade up into a 1st round pick. But as for now we have traded exactly the way we wanted. Have done so for the past 3 years. Forget the unders and overs.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
For god's sake does it matter whether we pay overs or unders in a particular trade. The club targeted Lever and Balic all year and beyond and made a decision on JW. They got these trades done as well as having 3 2nd round draft picks. As they said on Trade Radio the MFC are gaining the reputation of a club that gets trades done swiftly as possible. We usually get the outcome what we want.

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
As much as I would love him to stay, if Jessie does decide to leave it should be at the end of this season. We would receive very good compensation in the order of Freo's 1st round pick which at this stage is looking top 3 and their 1st round pick in 2017. Also the club would want a player as well. Which player? I don't know but he would need to be young (which is rare on their list). We can then on-trade these picks to persuade a potential available star like Hurley or Jenkins to come to us. End result wouldn't necessarily be too bad. Generally a club that loses a star player does not lose out and in fact in a lot of cases becomes the clear winner.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
I seem to recall that Bontempelli shot up the charts from nowhere a couple of years ago. He hasn't turned out too badly. What names do you have in mind that have failed?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
He looks like he has a bit of puppy fat to shed. it will be interesting to look at his body shape after his first pre season. He could be difficult to tackle as he looks to have a nice burst of speed from a standing start.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
You really missed the point. Trades can easily be made when two parties trust each other. Obviously Geelong and Adelaide had enough trust in each other to make the trade beneficial to each party. You give credit to Geelong and Adelaide because of the systems they have in place and the right people they have at the helm. Because of this things move very quickly. I now believe the MFC have the respect and trust of the other clubs to negotiate win/win trades. Even Essendon by their standards were reasonable with the Melksham trade. The trade was agreed upon very early. The trade was "pretty easy really".

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
On what grounds do you say that we paid more for Melksham? Just because we received p29 later you are jumping up and down saying that Ess would have accepted p29. You don't know. They are hard arses to deal with and if we were too we would still be at a standoff with supporters yelling to "do something". Footy clubs enter each trade period with specific goals to try and secure players they have identified during the season/s eg Melksham, Kennedy and Bugg that will improve their list. The club obviously believed that Melksham was worth a 2nd round pick and Kennedy around a late 2nd to 3rd and they got the job done around those picks. No one will remember the noise and drama involving these trades in years to come. All we will remember is what great pickups they were.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
I would trade out Spencer for Warnock. I believe Robbie has some talent but has been handled terribly by Carlton.

I take it that you are not a motivational speaker. Not sure that I would like to have you next to me in the trenches.
