  2. Which is great, but we need to turn that into #premiershipclub
  3. Lever will fit in well with us because he got shafted by the umps, just like we do most weeks! Take a look at a replay of the big mark that Riewoldt took early in the game. Lever's arm is being held by Townsend. Meanwhile, at a critical time halfway through the second, umpire pings Jake for a very slight tug of the jumper after the ball has been spoiled, enabling Townsend to get a free and a goal. Tigers were very good but just like the Doggies in the GF, got an absolute dream run from the umps when it counted. How Betts didn't get a free in the goalsquare just before halftime for holding is beyond me.
  4. Anyone who says Lever was pick 14 and therefore we shouldn't give anything more than pick 10 is kidding themselves. If that draft was re-done now, Lever would be pick 3 behind Heeney and Petracca. He's had three years of development too. I think two first rounders may be overs but 10 and 27 is probably the minimum we'll have to pay here. You can get a decent player at 27 but it's very hit or miss. Historically, we're pretty generous when it comes to trading....if we like a player, we'll try and get the deal done, unlike the Bummers, who in this situation would probably give pick 63 for Lever and still be kicking and screaming.
  5. Come on guys, do you really think that the Crows would want Frost as part of a compensation for Lever? There's no way we've exited the Lever race just because we've signed Frost. Stop thinking about best 18 needs and start thinking about best 42...every club needs depth, and with Col Garland on his last legs, what happens if TMac and/or Frost get injured? No reason why Lever, TMac, OMac and Frost can't co-exist in the same side, and even if we're playing a team with a smaller forward line, we can either move TMac forward or have Frost/OMac as depth. Absolutely convinced we are still in for Lever and a big chance to land him.
  6. Devon Smith is Devon Smith is basically gone....his issue is more of around midfield time rather than coin. If Kelly stays you can take it to the bank that Smith will go
  7. I never quite understood why TMac was often thrown around on here as possible trade bait - sure, he makes the odd brain fade in defence but he was still our most crucial defender. I have even less understanding now given that he's proven to be a more than capable forward and even a pinch hitter in the ruck. He's untouchable...no way we trade TMac.
  8. Shows how good their recruiting has been in recent years, particularly given the draft penalty they got. Have nailed the picks they've had in the teens and twenties (e.g. M Crouch, Lever, Sloane, Talia) and done superbly with the rookie list (Laird, McGovern, Cameron). I'd have a soft spot for the crows if they weren't an Adelaide franchise with moron fans! Waldron would know about brown paper bags I guess. But, I do think that the Pies are our biggest competitors. They have some currency to offer in Scharenberg, who is an SA boy but in and out of the side having come back from two knee recos, and also have some hard nut midfield depth that might appeal to the Crows (e.g. Tom Phillips, Wills etc.) I'd love to have Lever but am a bit worried about what we'd need to give up to get him - would be minimum first rounder (pick 11 at the moment?) and then a decent player (not a VFL type like BenKen).
  9. Frost is out of contract at the end of the year and has put talks on hold - I'm sure we want to sign him up again but I suspect he'll test himself on the open market and given his improvement this year and further potential upside, I'd say there would be quite a few suitors. Will be interesting to see how much we're prepared to pay to keep him, particularly if we're somehow able to nab Lever.
  10. He had a shocker yesterday, no doubt but I actually disagree with the comment that he's not doing his share of defensive work. Watch closely in the last quarter when Phillips gets their transition goal in the last quarter. Lewis was the only mid that chased all the way down from HB to get to Darcy Moore. The ball came to ground and Phillips pounced but it would have been a simple mark to Moore without Lewis' involvement. I definitely think that a 3 year contract is on the generous side, as I think he might be cooked at the end of next year but he'll still add value prior to that. I do think he's still getting used to our style of play, at Hawthorn he'd wheel around to see guys open on the diagonal kick and nail it, whereas we don't spread the same way. Having said that, there was a kick in the last two minutes to Bugg I think, that he missed from 20m away. He wouldn't have missed that kick in a million years at Hawthorn! Let's just see how he goes over the next few weeks before we crucify him for a bad performance.
  11. One thing Zak will need to remember is that if he plays for us, he'll get suspended for what he did on the weekend - the MRP like handing out weeks to Demon players as opposed to fines!
  12. Why would Kelly want to come to us given that we overlooked him in both the mini-draft and the following year's national draft? I reckon he'd love proving us wrong playing with GWS and if he moves on, to another Victorian club.
  13. There's no way the Bummers will take BOTH Curnow and Weidemann. They are desperate for mids, that's why they'd be peeved we jumped them at 3 because Parish is exactly what they need. I think one of Weidemann or Curnow will be available at 7 and we'll nab them. No idea which one I prefer at this point but I think we have to take Parish at 3.
  14. No, No, No! Has multiple brain fades and is a very ordinary decision maker. We have enough of those!
  15. I wrote to that moron Edmund on Twitter two weeks ago, you can see his reply below. He also mentioned my tweet in a podcast and said "Don't shoot the messenger"...you can listen further to his dumb explanation at about 30 mins in this weeks Herald Sun podcast. Typical journo taking no responsibility for a ridiculous story. The key to it is that, as Roos said, GWS will do ok out of it too but these journos don't seem to understand that. Plenty of trades that are win/win. ‏ .@SammyHeraldSun clearly the nameless recruiters you used for your article on the @DomTyson29 trade know their stuff #wenttooearly #noidea Reply Delete Favorite More 11:17 PM - 17 May 2014 Tweet text Reply to @SammyHeraldSun @DomTyson29 Sam Edmund ‏@SammyHeraldSun May 18 @LukeyBuzz I wonder if you say they went too early, what makes you think you're not? 16. Guys, it wasn't just Damian Barrett who made a clown of himself about this trade. What about the Herald-Sun's Mr Smug, Sam Edmund? Remember this belter of an article after Round 3? I just tweeted "Slammin Sam" to go and talk to his dumb recruiter mates now and see what they think. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/if-youre-a-melbourne-supporter-look-away-now-demons-draft-bungles-aplenty/story-fni5f91a-1226881324821
