  1. We should be really climbing into Shane Savage from the hawks.

Small but has some serious wheels on him. Can't seem to get a game with the highly ranked hawks.

Will add much needed pace to our team.

but ... research please, not just pick n mix lolly grabbing

    Herald Sun - June 2012:

DASHING Hawthorn linebreaker Shane Savage said being overlooked for last year's finals series motivated him to break into the regular side this season. And Savage, who has signed a new deal to remain a Hawk until the end of 2015, has been true to his word.

  2. Tends to fade out of games?? Seen any grand finals lately??

Will conceed he has had a poor year but is a genuine star.

Beams would be great but couldn't impact a game like goddard can when in form.

We would also have to giveup something big to get Boak, Caddy or Beams in the form of picks or players, whereas Goddard can simply walk to us.

He is 27yo, plays middle, back and forward, a respected on field general who will add much needed class to our mid field and will show our boys how to get the job done..

We have money to burn and need to pay someone big bucks over the next couple to make the minimum TPP. rather give it to someone who has earnt that coin and that certainly isn't Cloke or any of the above.

Big yes for me on Goddard.

    YES YES YES

  3. I dont completely understand your agenda hardnut but whatever it is take it somewhere else. Our forwardline tonight on paper was the worst you could possibly see and it really was only second to our disposal forward of centre. . The list was rated highly based on where players were chosen in the draft not based on their output or the balance of the list. Our mids were rubbish last year and they're rubbish this year

    AGREED

  4. He is one of my mates cousin and is by all reports a gun.

He would also be the number 1 draft pick if he did not break his leg.

This kid would well and truely be worth the risk at pick 4 after Toumpas.

I hope we take the kid he would be ready to go day 1 with his body.

agreed - worth the risk for MFC. Memo - get Jake Stringer

  5. get back on track ... I had a dream

#3 Jimmy Toumpas (SA) - pace, skills, smarts ... great wing/ruck rover. Gets the footy.

#4 Jake Stringer (Bendigo) - midfielder/fwd ... reminds me of a young PAV !! or Sam Mayes (SA)- class, class, class

#13 Dayle Gartlett (WA) - think a taller version of Cyril Rioli, Or

#25 Jack Viney father/son (Chargers) - hard as concrete. He will be a key to MFC future.

#45 Jason Pongrecic (Stingrays) - this kid loves it tough. He gets the footy, and tackles like he really enjoys it

#65 Daniel Nicholson - rookie elevation

    Trade

    1. Cale Morton to Eagles, in exchange for Koby Stevens

    2. Ricky Bobby Petterd to Sydney, in exchange for Jesse White

#3 Psd - Darryle Pearce (Power)

Rookies (only 2 to add) - 1. Luke Blackwell,25 (WAFL Claremont gun onballer) 2.LukeTynan, 20 (Scorpions) good classy HBF, brother to Josh

  6. Luke was born in Melbourne whilst his dad Wayne was playing for the blues. He was a father son pick in the 2004 draft for Carlton.

He spent most of the 2005 season playing for the Bullants (carlton ressies) as an 18yo. He was a very light teenager and it wasn't until halfway throigh 2006 that he got into the Blues Seniors. He played 10 of the last 11games of 2006, and was set up to be part of the Blues rebuild alongside Murphy, Gibbs etc. In 2007 and 08 he played a further 13 games before being delisted at end of 2008.

Then as above, he has won 3 Claremont B&F's (2009, 2010, 2011), runner up in the 2010 Sandover, won the 2011 Sandover (WAFL League B&F), and won the 2010 Simpson medal for the best player in the WAFL interleague match. He played a key role in Claremont's 2011 Premiership.

Get him now at the end of 2012 - likely with MFC#3 pick in the rookie draft ... we would NOT be disappointed. He HITS targets !!.

  7. Yes, his DC results will be interesting, although measured against his recent fitness issues.

I know nothing of Plowman, who they have at pick 4, but I don't know whether a rebounding key defender is our most pressing issue. The idea of getting Toumpas, Stringer, Mayes and Viney makes me a little weak at the knees.

Update - Jake Stringer - 4 goals and 2nd best for Bendigo U18's.

Watch this space... he could be very special (pick 4 for me)

  8. Great news and with GC getting there first win this week and the dees still only on 2 wins there is still a great chance MFC will finish below GWS or GC.

Not that i like not winning but with the rest of the year being a training run no one will know were the picks will fall we could very well finish 18th or 17th.

This draft is shaping as the most important draft in the history of this club.

We are in need of the best Midfield players going forward so if we Have a chance to land Grundy we would be silly not to have a real good look.

I class ruckmen as apart of the Midfield and add to that 3 good mids in Toumpas,Viney and pick 12 Vlastin

When november comes around there is going to be some really good high end talent thrown into the mix at the MFC.

Cam Swabb said on Triple M that we will not take Viney if GWS over rate him.(Well done Cam) we will take him in the second round IMO.

Once we have another year under Neeld and co and a fit squad of Trengove,Blease,Jurruh,Clark,Davey,Sylvia,Watts,Gawn,Jamar,Gysberts and add to that a good trade or 2 and Grundy,Tompas,Viney and Vlastin the MFC will turn around alot quicker then may fans might think. This is also what Cam Swabb said yesterday that when asked when will the club play finals again. He said that our team will turn around alot quicker then the so called experts might think.

There has been a big change at this club in 2012 and at times it's bloody hard to watch.

But please dees fans give the new footy department time to show the bigger picture which is in place right now.

The MFC has spent big money in recent times so we have the best chance to compete with all the clubs in the AFL Neeld,Mission,Craig are very good at what they do.

2013 will be the start of the rise of the MFC so hold on sit back and enjoy the ride.

    GO DEES

good logic and hope ... but for the last 3-4 years, this has been "written". By 2013, it was going to be the premiership year !!!!!

this is our last hope for a good draft and some A graders. Picks 3,4,12, 22 (lets hope its not Morton, Maric, Strauss, Bell types)

  9. On a positive note for Tom. He has made an amazing recovery from the chronic knee injury that prevented him playing for us most of last season. Some will say this is triumph over adversity. Yet some ingrates who never appreciated his talents at MFC will call him a malingering swine.

Yes his knee must be fixed after rubbing $100 notes on it.

  10. Colin has show that he wants to stay at Melbourne and that he thinks Mark neeld is the right man.

With a bit of luck Colin will get through the pre season and come out and play a solid year in 2013.

He seems like he starting to settle down in the midfield were i think he could be a gun.

He has all the tools you need to be a gun he just has not had the right application.

I feel Colin has turned the corner under Mark Neelds structure.

    GO DEES

Agree 100%. Colin is a key to a brighter MFC future.

  11. A simple fix to our games is to instruct the players to play "forwards" and look ahead.

Our first qtr agst the Dockers was where we moved the footy, kicked fwd and looked dangerous with our fwds one-on-one.

    It was frustrating to see

    - 1st qtr : Pavlich/Bradley goal, where we controlled across HB, then 2-3 sideways kicks, and trunover Pavlich gets it 55 out and goes bang (Bradley marked on the line). It was dispgraceful. Suburban footy like.

    - 4th qtr : Grimes 55m out, should be looking for a setup goal or just a big torp. But no, he kicks it 25metres backwards to the centre and puts Joel Mcd under pressure, turnover & goal. End of game !!

I understand the switch but these were not on, and were negative plays. Neeld take note. KISS principle. Fwd and quick play on style. Try it for god sake and give us some entertainment. If you play on like Blease/Nicolson, and get caught, so be it. But watch out, it may work.

  12. structure ??? agst the Dockers, we had two many half fwd flanks and half back flanks. Once Jamar went down and Martin into the ruck, our fwd line was all 6 footers (Green, Petterd, Sylvia, Howe, Bate). All one dimensional.

    B: Nicholson, Frawley, Rivers

    HB: Morton, Garland, T Mcd

    c: Blease, Gysberts, Bail/Trengove

    HF: Sylvia, Fitzpatrick, Howe

    Fwd: Jetta, Martin, Green

    Ruck: Spencer, J Mck, Jones

Int: Dunn, Tapscott, Bail/Trengove sub: Couch

    emerg: Moloney, Sellar, Petterd

(put Trengove on the wing to start the game as "must" have the skipper on to start the match)

In: Morton, Gysberts, Tapscott, Jetta, Dunn, Spencer, Ftzpatrick.

Out: Grimes (inj), jamar (inj), Bennell (dropped/injured/bags packed), Strauss, Bate, Petterd, J Mcd

  13. Moloney was B&F in 2011, then as he has had a down period, the answer is "Delisted". Get a grip. Moloney is hard at the footy, physically mature (which is much more than others), and has the skills and smarts to be a key midfielder going forward. Kicks the ball 50+.

    Wake up.

Davey, Green, Bennell, Bate, Spencer, Petterd, Jetta & a few others would have to go first.
