  1. Attention Paul Guerra First job when you get into office is to delete Adrian’s number. In fact, burn the phone book. [censored]
  2. And hopefully on Thursday the session will be “kicking- putting the fun in fundamentals” 😂
  3. Please tell me you’re [censored] joking
  4. Get Kenny to the club in some capacity and you're a 2% of making that happen. Good luck and god speed.
  5. I mean that's not totally true, because even when sick some players are simply still better than the alternative. If this was a final, or we had to win this game to make finals, you take a risk and back in your best players. We did that with May in the GF and it worked. But the season is so dead it's cold, and this is when these types of arguments are irrelevant. We had a golden opportunity to rest Trac and mix things up, and we chose not to. Instead we pushed him through illness, and we still lost. Great work.
  6. The notion that May deserves a suspension simply because he has form, is totally untrue. Can anyone remember the last time he was suspended?
  7. Not the first time this season I've heard of players being very ill during the week and still playing on the weekend. You'd think we're racing for a flag. Ridiculously and needlessly careless at this stage of the season.
  8. Go home Melbourne, you’re drunk
  9. Kosi with a perfect 10 in the coaches votes How much worse off would we be without him. Scary to think!
  10. Agreed. Petty should go back to replace May, and stay there as a permanent replacement for eventually Tmac who we know is retiring soon. Play Jefferson and Roo together for the rest of the year and if you wanna go totally crazy being Kentfield in too. The time to throw caution to the wind is now. Who here honestly cares if we win or lose the rest of the remaining games? (Of course we all want to beat the damn Pies) I rather lose a different way than the same old way
  11. I think that it was referred directly to the tribunal for the same grading is a good thing. It means they aren’t confident a careless grading will hold up at appeal. Otherwise they’d have slapped him with 3 weeks and got on with it. On the grading of careless it can’t be more than 3 weeks, unless we are so bad at representing ourselves that we argue he intentionally hit the other guy 😂 The AFL will need grounds to ask for more than 3 weeks, and according to their own metrics that only applies if the action was intentional.
  12. The MRO has to grade incidents, and you can't argue with the high or severe impact grading, those are very clear cut. They graded it Careless, because as I noted last week with the Xerri case, there is nothing below careless, it's either careless, or intentional which is much worse (4+ weeks and straight to tribunal) The argument here is that May wasn't careless, and contact was accidental. The MRO is too scared to make that call, and so they are sending it to the tribunal to argue. We will hopefully get a decent lawyer that will show that May had about 1 second to realise that he wasn't going to win the ball, and that only happened as a result of the bounce of the ball deviating from it's original course. May's eyes were firmly on the ball the entire time, in the split second that he sees his opponent in the periphery, you can actually see him tuck his elbow in and brace for contact, and not elect to bump. He actually flinches, which means he didn't see it coming. The argument from us should be that he had the right to go for the ball, and he would have taken possession first had the ball not bounced the way it did, and he had not enough time to stop himself with the momentum from hitting his opponent. Unfortunately the height difference meant there was a head injury, but May never changes direction, never leaves the ground, and never raises an arm, which are all the things we are wanting to stamp out. He didn't elect to bump, he clashed with an opponent at full speed trying to win the ball. But of course we will get that absolute [censored] Adrian Anderson to represent us with a limp wet lettuce leaf defense and May will get 4 weeks because he's not a 'good guy' like [censored] Maynard. Nothing surer.
  13. Also kudos to him for overcoming not just the Essendon debacle after a late start to his career, but the tragic death of his brother. He is a good man is Hibbo, and one of the very best pick ups we've ever had in terms of value for money. My close Essendon supporting mate says he's the one player they lost from the supplement saga that really hurt to see go, and he was riding our bandwagon hard in 2021 because he wanted Hibbo to win a flag. Now he just laughs at how good Melksham has become... "of course Essendon didn't get the best out of him" he says.
  14. An underrated star of our premiership defense. I reckon we retired him too soon.
  15. Nobody will ever replace Max. The plan is to do what 15 or so teams do and play with a good competitive ruckman post Max who doesn’t do what Max does but still helps the midfield get the ball. We have Kalani in the wings and we will undoubtedly keep trying to pluck a competitive young ruckman via the draft or in a trade. Generational ruckman are rare and they aren’t really needed to win a flag. Many teams have won flags with good ordinary combative beasts in the ruck. They’re a dime a dozen.
  16. He hasn’t let anyone in? So he didn’t let Jackson in? He didn’t let Grundy in (actively participated in the pitch to get him across), who cracked the sads when he was told he had to spend time forward of centre? Please tell me who he’s stopped from playing in the ruck…did you know that he has helped turn JVR into the most effective second ruck in the game stats wise? Gawn is a player not a recruiter. God help us if we let players make recruiting and drafting decisions. This is AFL it’s not little league. Now if you’re saying that no established ruckman wants to come play for us because they know they won’t get a game ahead of Gawn, that’s a different argument, but it’s still got nothing to do with Gawn being selfish. Or do you expect a 7 time AA and club captain to tank his own performance to give someone else a go? Gawn is the premier ruckman of this competition. He doesn’t play second fiddle because he doesn’t need to, and the ruck is literally the least of our problems right now.
  17. Last round against the Pies where we win by a point and they lose the right to a home final
  18. I’m with you in that I’m not sure what type of player Kolt can be. His attributes don’t jump out at me like with say Windsor having elite speed and endurance and a neat kick. Or Langford who is a physical beast but with time and poise and beautiful decision making and ball use. Or Lindsay who has time and space whenever he gets the ball. I know Kolt is rated highly for his attitude and that’s a very important trait, but it’s not enough right now. I think half forward is a useless position for a kid trying to get his hands dirty, and he’d be better off going to Casey and playing mid/wing or even half back. Get the ball in his hands and get him some confidence. Rotting at half forward and getting 2 touches before being subbed off is not exactly progressing him in the right direction.
  19. If I see Adrian Anderson representing us I will lose my goddamn mind. @Redleg I know you know someone better you can send to the club to do the job!
  20. IMO we got him as a cover for Max, in case Max is injured, and NOT as a complementary second ruck. TC has said as much. The thinking was that if we lose Max, we wouldn’t want to throw an underdeveloped Verrell or a second ruck in JVR into a full time ruck role. TC is a big body with experience, but he’s at the end of his career and this is his 4th club. He's insurance and I don’t think he feels hard done by that. I’m sure we made it very clear that he’s getting another AFL lifeline for this exact reason. This is vastly different to what I assume Fullarton is feeling, who I am sure we hoped would be a backup ruck/ forward option, and who we recruited from Brisbane for this reason. He just hasn’t shown much at Casey or at AFL level to command a game ahead of Roo.
  21. You said he’s selfish! How can you call Max Gawn selfish for carrying this club on his shoulders for the last 4 years is beyond me. Insulting to a champion who has won more games for this club than anyone else this decade. He worked beautifully with Jackson and never once suffocated his progress. In fact go ask Jackson how much he learnt from Max. Sure as hell more than he learns from Darcy! If Verrell showed real promise he’d get a game as a second ruck and JVR wouldn’t ruck and/or play. Gawn isn’t the problem, the lack of quality young rucks on the list are.
  22. I hate Fremantle Go Dockers
  23. Jackson did not walk he left to go home under enormous family pressure. And he would come back in a heartbeat. Gawn famously told Goody to leave him in the ruck in the third quarter of the GF because he was doing so well. Calling Gawn selfish is showing that you have NFI how many sacrifices this man makes for this club. The lack of respect for Gawn, the greatest ruckman of the modern era, is a complete disgrace. Find a ruck on any AFL list who would have a bigger influence on our game than Gawn… I’ll wait.
  24. It must have been graded higher, hence he’s being sent directly to the tribunal. That means the AFL are asking for 4+ weeks. Absolutely mind boggling.
  25. It’s silly to write someone off who’s had two years in the system and one has been marred by an interrupted pre season. Likewise it’s ok to admit that Kolt isn’t being helped playing seniors right now. He is barely getting the ball, and when he does get it, he isn’t using it well. I don’t think he’d be thinking he’s performing well himself, and to keep rewarding him with games at this level where he’s often subbed off, is a bit silly. It also makes a mockery of guys like Laurie who are consistently performing at Casey and knocking the door down each and every week. For his sake I hope he goes back to Casey and gets to play some midfield minutes for the rest of the year. Get his hands on the footy and set himself up for a massive pre season.
