  1. Yes and what exactly is he working with? Our forward line is on a hiding to nothing with a midfield that can't kick, and a forwardline that is crying out for a big bodied KPF with experience.
  2. He coached the best defence in the history of the game (statistically) to a premiership. He also got us to be the highest scoring team in 2018 when he was our forward coach. He is the least of our problems, and the obvious caretaker for the next 3 games.
  3. An enormous blunder by an arrogant then president to ignore Jackson's endorsement of Mahoney for the CEO role and chase a big name in Pert, who was sacked for meddling in FD issues. We needed to keep as many people who worked under Jackson at the club, because Jackson really did fix a rotting apple when he came on board.
  4. That is a disgrace and speaks to poor management and governance. Regardless of whether the decision to sack Goody was right or wrong, letting even one player find out via social media is utterly unacceptable. Also I hope youโ€™re doing ok.
  5. Iโ€™m really not sure what people expect Ed to say? He says the players had a good relationship and loved Goody. I donโ€™t think the board disagreed with that. But loving someone is not always enough. Players may love him but also think we need a change, or they might be blinded by their affection towards him. As the saying goes, love is blind.
  6. I really don't understand why Trac and Clarry are being treated so differently on this. Both missed a lot of footy with injury, both have had mental challenges to overcome. Yes Trac had a worse physical injury and Clarry a worse mental health battle, but both should be afforded time to get back to their best. Trac has shown at times mental scaring around physical contact. No judgement at all, but who says he will overcome that? Clarry missed 6 months of footy in 2023, had no pre season heading into 2024, broke his hand so badly in round 1 that he could barely move it or lift a weight for the best part of a season. But for some reason nobody really mentions the physical toll that would have taken on him and the long road back to peak fitness from there. What makes you think he's mentally cooked? Which btw is a putrid way to put it, but I'll let that slide. Because he had a week off for his mental health this year? To me that screams of someone who is doing the most to look after their mental health. It took Fritsch the best part of a year to get over his nasty foot injuries from 2023. Tmac the same. Look at Lever, his body has been failing him consistently for such a long period of time, and that's despite completing an almost full pre-season. McVee missed 7 weeks with a hammy and I reckon he's a shadow of his former best self, but nobody here wants to let him walk. Very few players just 'bounce back' in a matter of one pre-season from serious or prolonged injuries, especially those who need to play such a demanding role as Clarry or Trac. It is a credit to how hard both of them worked in the pre-season that they've managed to physically get thru an entire season without any hiccups.
  7. Firstly you have no idea who they consulted, including senior players. You're naรฏve if you think all the senior players were 100% behind Goody. Some were likely wanting change, especially those whose time is running out. And even those who didn't want change, may have still had issues with the coach. It's not that shocking. Secondly this is nothing like the Schwab and Bailey situation, because Schwab was CEO, and he was universally hated by every player for his involvement in the FD. We already got rid of our CEO last year for a similar issue.
  8. Whoever it is, I for one can't wait for the usual Demonland sad sacks to start to question him immediately, and blame him if we don't go on to win a flag in 2026.
  9. The real question is, how is Demonlandโ€™s server holding up?
  10. If Richo stays itโ€™s simply about the soft cap pressures. Simple as that.
  11. A sure fire way to kill off the last remaining few of us die hard supporters of the club.
  12. Bailey Laurie was last seen bringing Troy a basket of homemade muffins
  13. He signed because the entire club has been great to him, heโ€™s playing great footy here, his family is happy in Melbourne and Matty Whelan is doing amazing things at the club. And oh because heโ€™s getting paid a LOT of money He did not sign because someone promised him Goody will be his coach for the rest of his career. Heโ€™s also not a moron. You think he looked at the on field results and didnโ€™t think Goodyโ€™s job wasnโ€™t entirely safe? Give him some credit ffs! Players who choose to leave because the coach has left, were never really invested in the club anyway. Coaches come and go. Ask Tmac how many heโ€™s played under. Now of course if a new coach comes in and Kosi and him donโ€™t get on, then he might want to leave. The coach that is, not Kosi ๐Ÿ˜‚
  14. Here is my concern with Horse. He had the world on a platter at Sydney. Inherited a winning culture, COLA and academy at his disposal. A club well supported by the AFL and a good home ground advantage (although a disadvantage to playing on the G). With all that he won one flag, which granted are very hard to win, but he also coached a team that was mentally fragile on the biggest stage of all. Twice they got humiliating in a grand final. I think from setting standards perspective he will be excellent, and he takes no prisoners which I think we need, but likewise is he capable of coming up with a game plan that suits the large MCG? Does he have the fire in the belly? Can he coach without the luxury of top quality academy picks coming his way? Does he want to drive to Casey? If Longmire is the target then it makes sense that we pulled the trigger now, before Carlton blink on Voss. We definitely donโ€™t want to compete with a big club if we are chasing an experienced guy with a plethora of options. My preference is still an untried high quality assistant from a winning club, and an experienced GM of footy. Thatโ€™s the best balance of power IMO.
  15. Itโ€™s hard. I still remember how sad I was when Daniher was sacked. I was even gutted for Dean Bailey who I knew was being scapegoated for far larger issues. Itโ€™s always unpleasant to lose a coach (unless that coach is Neeld ๐Ÿ˜ฌ), and itโ€™s even harder to lose a coach that was so successful and brought us the joy of a flag. Something I personally thought I would die without seeing. But two things can be true at once. You can be sad about a relationship ending, and also acknowledge that itโ€™s best to part ways. Not every breakup has to be bad. I wish Goody all the absolute best and have no doubt he has a long footy career still ahead. I will always respect him for what he gave us and what he achieved, and the grace with which he carried himself to the very end.
  16. If all else fails Iโ€™m probably available for the right price. I canโ€™t coach but I promise Iโ€™ll do a better job managing our comms.
  17. Do you know what heโ€™s been through in his personal life? He lost his wife and mother of his two older boys tragically and suddenly not that long ago. What a totally unnecessary comment.
  18. Oh no, here come the meltdowns....
  19. At least nobody can complain about SOCCER TRAINING again
  20. I heard his presentation will include great ideas such as telling Gawn to leave to another club.
  21. What a solid idea, sack a premiership winning coach, and replace him with a coach that has failed time and time and time again to win one with some pretty good teams. Hinkley is not welcomed unless he brings Butters with him.
  22. I agree that the way it was handled from a comms point of view was terrible, but what else is new there. I don't know how it was handled with Goody so I can't comment, but for this story to leak, be broken by [censored] Tom Morris and then we hear nothing from the club for hours and hours was absolutely hot garbage. I would suggest a sackable offense, but hard to sack people when those in charge are not really in charge, they're just warming seats.
  23. How is that at all related to what I said? He has a great personal relationship with our senior players and their families, and he is a key reason Kosi didn't walk out the door 3 years into his career. You can be unhappy with on field performances and still give credit where it is due. I swear this place is a nightmare.
  24. More interesting to see who doesn't post / say anything. Edit: I imagine Melksham is taking it the hardest. He's been coached by Goody since he was 17! Wow
  25. A very good point that shouldn't be lost in all this. Good governance and stability is SO important to success. Just look at Geelong and Brisbane. Stable from the top down, excellent leadership and consistent governance. Now look at Essendon who 20 years on have still not recovered from the debacle of the supplement saga. Since the end of 2021 we have been dealing with some form of off field drama or another. The endless lawsuit, the leaking, the board room battles, hiring Pert despite PJ's opposition, caretaker president, no CEO, it's just been one thing after another. It's taken a toll on the coaches and the players, it made us an unfavourable option for assistant coaches and players alike. Goody has had to deal with more than most senior coaches, and he has always done so with dignity and respect for the players and the club. Let us hope that in 2026 we can finally get some permanent, strong leadership from the board all the way down to the footy department, because without it we will never succeed.
