Chasing money has hardly worked out for players. Also there are 600+ list spots and only 18 senior AFL jobs. Being a senior coach is an extremely difficult, time consuming, all encompassing job that comes with enormous pressure. It’s not something you do for money, it’s something you do because you love it and are passionate about it and can give your whole energy to it. If money is your main motivation, you’re in the wrong job because ultimately it’s a short lived career. There are easier ways to make good money.

Just another reason to wish failure upon Geelong

Not only was this not announced by Tom Morris first, the club had both an email and press release ready to go immediately. Kudos Paul Guerra for sacking the media department and replacing them entirely between the B&F and today!

My god this place is unbearable. FFS if Buckley was not 100% committed he wasn't the right guy. There were lots of questions marks around him, both with his average coaching history, the time he spent away from the game, and his desire to do the job. But of course the usual suspects are bitching and moaning, because the media TOLD THEM Buckley is the man, and now that he isn't, it must be because we are a basket case and not because, wait for it, Buckley just wasn't that impressive or that committed to the job. If you hate this club and think everything we do is so bad, please just put yourself and the rest of us out of your misery and leave.

Very happy we have gone for a new and fresh voice. It is exactly the path taken by many of the recent successful sides / premiers (ourselves included with Goody). King has loads of experience across a number of clubs, was captain, won a flag, coached successful sides and been involved in the system for many many years. He comes from what I think is the best run club in the AFL in Geelong, both as player and coach. He definitely fits the profile of what you want in a coach. Fingers crossed he can be given the grace he deserves by our fans, but no doubt by next week there will be dozens of whingers on here calling him the wrong choice. And most importantly Buckley will never win a flag.

So West Coast, Carlton, Essendon and North are better to watch than we are? I think not

Not true. Look at other clubs who are playing rubbish football while simultaneously keeping or even growing their base.

There is no way that Judd has put pen to paper and we are just waiting to announce it. It makes no sense to wait, especially with other list decisions being announced. He is obviously waiting to see who the new coach is, and what they can give him, and perhaps we are also happy to wait and see what we can get for him at the trade table. I would be disappointed if a kid we plucked off the rookie list during Covid and made a permanent member of our best 22, chooses to leave, but it won't be the end of the world either.

Yeah at least last year our players kept their angst towards Trac behind closed doors. How does Merrett walk back from this? It's obvious he doesn't want to, and is hoping the scorched earth approach gets him what he wants. Didn't work for Trac tho.

We have in the past. We had $13 3 game memberships when Clarry re-signed, and I think we did the same with Kosi. A good way to bump our member numbers is to get a better digital membership deal for fans. Dogs got loads of members because their digital membership with Kayo was cheaper than anyone else, and cheaper than taking out a Kayo subscription. It also feels like as members we get very little back from the club, and I am not talking wins and losses. We get a few 'events' for 10/20/50 year members etc, but those events are mostly some training sessions nobody can attend if they have a job. Doing something like having exclusive online content for fans, maybe insights from the coaches, or more stats available for paid up members, pre game events with players etc. Perhaps exclusive merch, better discounts with sponsors etc. In this cost of living crisis, a lot of people can't justify the price of a membership. If we aren't winning, and you don't think finals are on the cards, then what other value do you get from your membership? This is something the club has to work on, increasing value adding to the members, and making memberships appear to be better value for money than they currently are.

They are copping heaps and handling themselves very poorly. This is a bigger mess than us in 2024 by a long shot. At least Max wasn't meeting with Sam Mitchell last year! Why is Carlton not copping more from the media is what surprises me.

Chaplin is a very good line coach and Yze knows this. I wouldn’t want to see him go. He did an amazing job with our backline while in charge.

Smith has some nerve to have a go at a photographer doing her job, when that [censored] earns so much money from posting thirst trap photos of himself half naked all over the internet. His Cotton On sponsorship is worth more than his Geelong contract ffs.

I was thinking the same thing. A good will gesture after last year’s injury ordeal, or perhaps a few extra tickets because Trac was receiving his life membership. Gawny said Jack Fitzpatrick was in attendance. I’m gonna guess he didn’t pay full price either for the pleasure of attending the worlds most boring award show 😂

Can you name one time that Clarry has been rude or disrespectful to any member of the media despite being relentlessly harassed by them? If he pulled the sort of BS that Smith or Ginnivan has, we’d never hear the end of it.

Clarry didn’t even have a go at that loser Tom Morris when he tried harassing him while LEAVING THE HOSPITAL during the off season. I would have personally punched him! Clarry would never ever be rude to anyone let alone harass a female photographer for doing her job at an open training session. Bailey Smith is a juvenile arrogant [censored]

He missed a few games thru fake injuries for his behavior. But Geelong won’t do [censored] now that a flag is at stake.

Imagine if any of our players behaved half as badly as Smith does on a regular basis… And people think Clarry is a problem😂
