Just as long as when Jamar comes in to replace PJ he isn't given 2nd ruck duties. He is our first ruckman at the moment, and that shouldn't change if White is there instead of PJ.

As usual, grand-standing with little substance. By the way, if you really can't stand people criticising Bruce, utilize the 'ignore' function or stop reading this forum because I can tell you that for as long as this forum exists, players will get criticised.

I have never once personally attacked Bruce, or anyone else who plays for this club. When talking about players post-match I only mention those who I believe need to be mentioned. As our CAPTAIN Bruce has as much, if not more of the spotlight on him each week and as one of the few remaining senior players it is up to him to show the way. Sadly, he has been disappointing on the whole. You can deny that all you want, you can call me a Bruce basher, an abuser of players, it still won't change anything. Perhaps it is time to get off the high horse and let people express their opinions so long as they are not personal or offensive, because you 'post stalking' anyone who has an opinion about Bruce is really becoming old.

I don't buy the injury excuse, as Bruce's disposal has been poor for a number of seasons now. Nobody cared that Miller was battling injury last season when he was playing badly, and nor should they. If you're out there, you're fair game. There is NEVER any need to personally attack a player, and if anyone does that they are no longer permitted to post on Demonland. However, there is a group of supporters on here who for better or worse support Bruce, and that is absolutely their right. Those of us who don't fall into that category, get attacked the second we dare raise the issue that Bruce can't hit a target consistently, makes poor decisions with the ball and can go for quarters at a time without making any serious impact. These are his deficiencies, and they have nothing to do with Bruce as a person or a human being, they are purely football related.

IMO the ability is still there, but the desire is gone. Maybe I'm wrong, but when a player doesn't go in for the tackle, doesn't run those extra few steps and doesn't chase, but basically stands still when the ball is not in close vicinity, they just don't care anymore. That doesn't mean they don't care about the club, it simply means they are tired of playing the game at the highest level and that the motivation to keep going is no longer there. Knowing you have 3 games left (if that) is certainly not helping the situation. As I said, I admire White for everything he has done for the club (through some horrific injuries) and it saddens me to see him leave the game on such a poor note.

Agreed. Since when has it become unacceptable to pass criticism on Bruce? Why is it ok to call Dunn a stupid player, Bell crap, Sylvia lazy, Newton a waste of talent, but if you say one bad thing about Bruce you are automatically a Bruce hater? Get your heads out of the sand, Bruce is in the twilight of what has been a fairly good career. His disposal and decision making is poor, his on-field leadership from the stands is uninspiring (could be a completely different case amongst the playing group), but his endurance and versatility are allowing him to maintain reasonable enough form to stay in the side. He is not however our best player, he is not having a great season and he is NOT above criticism. David Neitz, pre- retirement, was being called rubber-chest by some Melbourne fans. If it's good enough for Neita to cop it, a champion of the MFC, it's good enough for Bruce (winner of 0 B&Fs).

Indeed. Some people may be obsessed with their own thoughts of how a game of football should be played, but we just don't have the cattle to bomb it long. Wheatley does, and turns it over 80% of the time. The way the Cats played last night, with quick handballs was the most effective way of winning in the wet, and has helped them win one (two soon) flags without having a brilliant forward line. Besides, who the hell bombs long to the square against Geelong's backline?? They held us to TWO forward 50 marks the whole match. No idea!

I recognise the fantastic contribution Jeff White has made to the Melbourne Football Club over a long period of time, but last night he just did not care to be out there. Watching it on TV, as I assume you were, you wouldn't have seen what he was doing off the ball, or rather, what he wasn't doing. Didn't bother chasing, didn't go in hard enough, just did the bare minimum required. He knows he's gone in 3 rounds, and so I can kind of understand why he wouldn't have enjoyed being out there in the rain getting smashed. Still would have been nice for him to show a bit more urgency, given this may well have been his last game. He also had just 11 hitouts, 0% to advantage. PJ has 10 hitouts, 50% to advantage. Bring back Jamar!

Whelan can hold his head up high. Junior tries as always, but he is just not that good. Maric and Martin are the only two reasons why I stuck it out till three quarter time despite being extremely sick (wasn't gonna miss two games in a row, despite spending last Friday afternoon in hospital). Carroll is terrible, and White played like he couldn't care less. Bruce's first half was poor as well, but at least he got better in the third.

Well that just saved me 10 seconds of wasting time abusing someone who has absolutely no idea what the hell he's talking about. Thank you Brocky, your passion will go a long way to helping our club survive. What a complete champ!!!

His experience is invaluable, but I hope he only gets a 1 year deal given he is very injury prone. Great news nevertheless.

I would take a 6 goal or less loss as a victory. Seriously, we can't win.
