Brilliant pressure inside forward 50 in the second half of that quarter. All of our goals came directly from that. Well done.

FFS our lack of defensive spread is absolutely [censored] woeful. We look horrid.

Aren't your borders still close to everyone? Or did I miss something?

I loath that woman, however she is absolutely right to milk this for all it's worth. Without QLD we have no season and she knows it.

Jesus Christ you gotta give credit to Paul Roos for winning any games with this group of plodders. I forgot how horrendous our list was when he took over. Day and night to the list Goodwin has now. -
Everyone plays everyone once this year. While it would be nice to have a few 'soft' games in a row to get momentum, all this means is that our second half of the draw will be easier leading into finals. My guess is that NSW is on the verge of a second wave and the AFL is hightailing out of there ASAP. Brisbane in Brisbane is probably the hardest game you could get at the moment. Good test for us to see where we really are at.

There is no doubt that if ever Melbourne was going to win a flag again, it would be the one year where none of us long suffering paid up members can attend. And the world would probably end the next day because a meteoroid would hit it #MFCSSxCOVID19

Completely agree. If given the choice to delist, there are 6-7 players who I would delist ahead of Jones at season's end. Jones can cover multiple roles, and he still brings experience and leadership. I rather him play HB in a final than say Lockhart. We are so quick to forget the sacrifices this guy made in his career for this club. He deserves to get to 300 games, and more than that, I think our club would benefit from us making it happen for him. It shows loyalty and appreciation for those who gave so much to the club for such a long period of time. Sometimes having a winning culture isn't just about winning games.

He is a much better player than so many on here give him credit for. A good solid one on one defender, and a very good user of the footy, when he does use it. I assume Day was his opponent most of the game. Day had 7 touches and 2 marks for 0 goals. Oscar had 9 touches, 3 marks and 4 tackles. More than did his job!- 213 replies

Racial Vilification of Harley Bennell

Americans are, for the most part, as dumb as the day is long. They are ignorant and small minded. Their behavior during this pandemic shows you how selfish and narrow thinking they truly are. The British have a long history of oppression and a superiority complex they haven’t quite worked out they are no longer entitled to. Both countries voted on important matters (presidential elections and Brexit) with a strong racist undertone. Trump won a lot of fans with his stance on Mexicans and immigration as a whole, and many people voted for Brexit “to stop those foreigners taking our jobs”... jobs they don’t want to do, but let’s not worry about that. -
For someone who hasn’t played for a very long time at senior level and given our generally woeful delivery forward, he did as well as can be expected. He attacks the contests and he rarely gets out marked which means he nullifies the constant stream of slow high bombs that go into our forward 50 which at least created a ground level contest and allows us to lock the ball in. We were so much better at keeping the contest in our front half yesterday simply for this reason. We had repeated entries and while they didn’t always work like in previous weeks, yesterday the ball didn’t just bounce in and then straight out again. He did his job, and injuries aside, should be given every game for the rest of this season. Would love to see a full game of him and Tmac as our two talls. Both would benefit greatly from not taking multiple tall defenders individually, and there is no doubt our structure would look much better too.

I don’t know what makes me more emotional about this video. That we were winning finals, or that we may never get to enjoy a fully packed MCG celebrating with other fans again #covidnormal

Sure. The issue wasn’t last night because it worked. But it doesn’t always work because most of the time teams have players who can cover Gawn. You can’t be so predictable and we’ve been doing the bomb it long down the skinny side to Gawn for 3 years now. Sometimes it works but when it doesn’t we appear to have no other options.

If this pandemic has taught me one thing for sure is that people are selfish ignorant trash. Exhibit A. -
It was so frustrating and lucky Gawn was having a good marking day. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that perhaps Tmac going down meant Gawn was our only marking option down the line as clearly they were playing Weid deep to isolate his opponent. My issue is that for 10 years we have had the same simplistic repetitive kick out strategy. Surely someone can come up with some different options to move the ball out of full back.
-
The only change for me is out Melksham and in Hunt or Jones. Of course if Tmac is still blind then Brown in to replace him.
-
Gus is a much better user of the footy going forward than the rest of our inside mids. At our best in 2018 he was winning clearances and the delivering the ball forward. He’s creative and he good at spreading to receive the ball wide which makes him a lot less predictable than Oliver and Viney. The issue is he isn’t getting enough inside mid minutes at the moment. I would like to see him played at half back instead of on the wing.
-
He played on the wing a lot tonight. I would want to know what role he was doing before we jump the gun. To me he is an inside mid and playing him anywhere else is robbing him of his real talent. It’s like playing Oliver on a wing and wondering why his effectiveness is down.
-
Hannan and Viney were superb today. Vanders excellent in the last quarter. There is no doubt we are a lot better set up with Oscar down back and it even allowed us to throw May forward when he was stinking it up. Extremely disappointing to see our ball use was again horrific. Petracca and May nowhere near good enough. Weideman did ok. He needs a bit more time. Also a real shame we lost TMac because it looked good to have two talls in the first quarter. Our wastefulness with the ball is so frustrating and against a better more mature side we would have lost. It was nice to have less chaos ball and playing on at all costs. Our decision making was better but our execution is still just rubbish at times.

The umpiring ??

Get [censored]. He can’t kick a simple 20m pass but he kicks this goal ?♀️?
-
Our entire back 50 exist strategy is kick to Gawn ?
-
Our ball use is PATHETIC.

Hannan again. Well done!
