  1. After years of botched list management and dead set busted [censored] recruiting, it’s nice to now have a team in charge that knows what they’re doing. Will be interesting to see how much our trade period dynamic changes now without Josh Mahoney. He was always very good at getting stuff done.
  2. I hope the boys got up this morning and saw that we are not 1st on the ladder anymore and decided this level of mediocrity just won’t do anymore.
  3. Dogs midfield is a class above the competition. Their backline is very suspect. Their forwardline is meh although they do have Josh “kicks goals against Melbourne specialist” Bruce. Port were disappointing for mine. Dogs were very good. Their midfield is next level. Edit: didn’t watch the Richmond GWS game. But given the injuries to Richmond it seems like GWS blew a good chance. Or did they choke under the pressure?
  4. Gees imagine getting The Bont. Dreaming I know.
  5. Hate Thursday footy. So hard to get there in time from work. Massively late night by the time you get home. I’m too old for that [censored].
  6. Come talk to me when you have to play down in f&$/& Geelong every year!
  7. We have enough talls who can pinch hit. Gawn will take 90% of the Centre bounces. Weid the other 10%. Brown and Tmac will alternate up forward. Gawn will take the defensive ball ups, perhaps with Tmac helping out if he’s pushing up the ground. I am really interested to see how Brown, Tmac and Weideman plus Fritsch who plays tall can work. Can they work? Will we just look immobile? Tmac is quite good defensively. Weideman is not. Nor is Fritsch. Brown is mediocre at best. It will be fascinating. If it’s very wet we might struggle.
  8. This is not really a question. Weideman will come in. We’ve waited all year for an opportunity to slot him in. Given Jackson is only 1-2 weeks away, he, Tmac and BB will all wanna play at their best. Someone will lose their position in two weeks. Not a bad thing really.
  9. I’m not sure anyone is taking this casually. But in the grand scheme of things Jackson getting a week or two off with a minor injury is hardly a disaster. Losing Tomlinson for a year is a disaster. Jackson getting a rest and recovering from a minor injury is a hiccup. Carlton don’t have a great ruck division. Gawn has gone it mostly alone in the past. It’ll be ok. We need to get our Centre clearances working again. If we can’t do that with Gawn we are stuffed regardless.
  10. Makes getting our Centre clearances back on track even more crucial this week, as I feel Jackson has been pivotal in turning things around for us in the center the last two weeks.
  11. The only footy podcast I listen to is the Gus and Gawny show. I save it for Monday morning when the drive to work is especially depressing. It’s such lighthearted rubbish and as an avid #positivelingers fan I keep hoping one day they’ll get the great man on.
  12. Out : Jacko In: Weid
  13. Yep my reserved seat ticket is already in my wallet app. What a smooth process this week! Love it!
  14. Do we know if Weideman broke his finger? ?
  15. Weideman plays. Brown rucks forward.
  16. While I understand how 'nice' it would be to be close to the MCG, the land around there is in short supply. Also maybe 1% of our members live in and around the Richmond area, lets be honest. Most members live in the inner suburbs of Melbourne, as do our players. I would rather have a state of the art facility, MCG sized training ground and a social club / offices in one somewhere away from the MCG precinct, than wait another decade in the faint hope we will get this going in the perfect location. To be honest I am not sure why we can't use Casey and just grow it. I don't live too far from here, and there are loads of Melbourne supporters in this area, and the entire city of Casey and Cardinia are being developed and re-developed at an insane rate. Wouldn't you rather get these local governments to chip in, maybe build an extra train station near the ground, some more parking etc and grow this as our hub? I feel like we are 1st home buyers. Naively waiting to buy a mansion in Toorak, but with a budget to buy a flat in Frankston. Sometimes you gotta be realistic and just get into the market. Having something is better than having nothing!
  17. I catch either the Frankston or Pakenham trains to the footy (the only time I ever catch public transport each week mind you), and hardly nobody wears masks. I would have expected at least Melbourne supporters, being generally smart, educated and aware of how likely they are to be caught up in tragedy, would be wearing them. Sadly, that is not the case. Put a mask on. Even without Covid, people are disgusting, winter and flu season is almost here, and the trains are filled with loud spitting folks. Don't you want to avoid getting sick? Especially during a pandemic, being sick with anything flu-like is just a pain.
  18. I really wish people would wear masks on the packed trains to and from the football like the LAW says you should. Less than 10% of people are wearing masks, and I just don't get why. It is always crowded on those trains, how hard is it to slap a mask on? FFS the complacency of so many is going to really screw us. And I don't know why nobody is monitoring it either. We should have people on trains, especially footy trains, ensuring mask compliance. At the moment with 0 new cases beyond this one returned traveller, it seems unlikely the crowds will be cancelled. We know the risk of being outdoors is super minimal.
  19. I’m old now so no idea these days, but back in the day when I was going out to clubs, there were places known for their “footy players”. The promoters would pay players to attend to draw a crowd. It was generally a mix of different players from different clubs. They were often very drunk as everyone would buy them drinks. I’ve lost a lot of respect for lots of Hawthorn players as they were overall the worst behaved. I would hope in 2021, and with an 8-0 start that our players can make a commitment to themselves not to be out and partying during the season. I also think we are lucky that many of our players, even the younger ones, seem to be in serious long term relationships. Some are even parents.
  20. Why round 10 and not round 9? Like how much notice do you need to give clubs? As if they don’t know by Thursday who they are picking. FFS.
  21. How many weeks you reckon he gets now for doing that? 10?
  22. Look, I could have just said Sydney, Geelong, Hawthorn or GWS.... but it was quicker just to type Love Child instead. I apologise.
  23. I think if you are fringe 22, you don't. If you are Gawn, or Trac, or Oliver and you are beaten up and sore, I don't think you are worried about having a rest and not getting back into the side. However I think it is just as important to win the 'winnable' games right now, as it is to be beating Port or the Dogs or Brisbane. For as long as we have minimal injuries, and a good run of games we need to secure as many wins as possible, to ensure that if/when injuries hit or our form drops, it is not a disaster.
  24. The more likely scenario is we go undefeated the entire year and Covid strikes and the season is cancelled before to the grand final #MFCSS
  25. I think Geelong should get one too if they finish outside the top 4, just because of their aging list.
