Jaded No More

I wouldn’t read too much into the number of guys who had managed minutes at Casey last night. We have a 5 day turnaround. We have to keep at least 3 guys fresh to allow for mid week injuries, structural changes as well as the sub.

We had the third youngest team out on the field this week. We are at the very start of our window, and literally not one single supporter thought we would finish top 2 this year, let alone win a flag. We are not where we need to be to win premierships, but we have a very strong foundation to build on. Nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems.

Better to be in a form slump in July than September. No point peaking now. But we need to sort out our issues ASAP so we don’t completely ruin our chances of finishing top 4.

We won’t make 3 unforced changes. At 12-3 you can’t throw the baby out with the bath water. We are playing one defensive mid too many. I would bring in Brown and drop one of Viney, Harmes or Sparrow. Harmes is the most versatile as he can play attacking, or play a shut down role which we may need versus Port. So I suspect it’ll be Sparrow while we continue to wait for Viney to gain fitness and form (which I disagree with but think Goodwin won’t drop the VC).

So I take it Brown is playing Thursday?

How about Mumford pretending he got hit high in the middle? he is a fat piece of [censored]. I am drunk. I’ll see myself out.

I thought their midfield was much better than ours. Their backline defended really well and if we had a poorer backline they would have won by a lot more. To say they were ordinary today is harsh. They are massive chokers and it’s totally our fault for not putting our foot down early on to make them fall apart. But when they get going they are classy footy users and have a lot of good players. They can also kick goals a lot better than we us. Our goal kicking is a disgrace. Has been all year. Regulation shots missed by full time forwards every single week. And Trac!

Gawn was not intimidated by Mumford. He was illegally getting smashed by Mumford while 3 umpires stood by and watched. He has every right to demand half the protection the likes of Selwood and Bont get. He’s as good a player!

I think the bottom line is, we did not deserve to win today. GWS were excellent and we stunk up the joint. We are blessed with a backline to stops us from losing ugly. But without them this would have been an ugly loss.

Yep to throw Hunt forward after a year of playing and training down back and expect him to win the game just says how little faith we had in the rest of the forwards we selected.

We are very midfield heavy with our current selected side. But we have far too many like players who don’t do enough. Trac, Oliver and JJ all provide strong points of difference but Harmes, Sparrow and Viney all so much of the same. Which is not a hell of a lot.

Don’t get the hate for Petty. Played on Himmelberg who is a very good player and kept him to 1 goal. Sometimes supporters can’t see the forest from the trees. He is not an issue. He’s doing as well as can be expected for a kid who played 11 games going into this season. Eleven. He’s holding down CHB. I repeat. Eleven. Move on. Nothing to see here.

I totally agree with you. I’ve been on the “bring Ben Brown” train all week. I’m still stuck in the city loop tho. We did have more inside 50 entries so there’s no doubt we could have won with better forwards up there. But we also won a lot of games this year with the same forward set up. The difference for me today was how badly our midfield was outplayed.

Geelong not doing too badly it seems. And Essendon were up and about and Richmond have 100,000 members. Twice what we have. To blame the fans for today’s loss is legit the single funniest finger pointing I’ve seen since Essendon fans blamed the umpires last week. Absolutely dreaming.

How have attendances been going this year? How many did Richmond get? Geelong? Give me a break. We got 17,000 which is almost as many as came last week to watch two Victorian sides. Maybe if there was something to cheer about we would have got going. We are not a [censored] supporter base that cries and boos all game.

Lol now I’ve seen it all. I was at the game. We made plenty of noise in the last quarter to help the team. You know what we didn’t do? Select a non existent forwardline and struggle to win clearances. Jesus Christ let’s blame us supporters for putting up with a mediocre club for 60 damn years.

GWS may be 10th but they are a good side and they played very very well. Their midfield is absolutely elite and destroyed us inside and on the outside. Absolute credit to them.

When you lose by under two goals of course it can be argued that Ben Brown could have been the difference today. But this loss was on the midfield. They got smashed today. One of the worst games I’ve been from Trac and Oliver. Harmes his usual wasteful self. Viney a non starter.

To blame Hunt for the loss is to put a bandaid on a broken foot.

People will pick on Hunt but FMD there are 18 players out there who did SFA today. At least Hunt tried to do something.

Oh well who wants to finish top 4 anyway. Our midfield should be ashamed of that performance. Viney has to get dropped. He’s a liability. Pickett likewise.
