  1. He’s also a lot younger and had an ACL in his first season with us and ongoing foot issues this year.
  2. And was part of the best defense recorded by the AFL in a premiership winning season. Did we overpay for May who is almost 30?
  3. You’re right. It’s not like we signed every single one of our best players and locked away the two best mids in the competition for 7 years.
  4. Yep soz Luke but I give precisely 0 [censored] about your desire to land at Fremantle. Should have stayed put. Now you can go to a bottom 2 side.
  5. This can’t be a real offer. Peter Bell is a moron.
  6. Maybe our culture and environment has come so far that we think we can get him right. Who knows. It’s a big risk so I hope we don’t overpay.
  7. How is this a comparable situation? McDonald was captain and pushed out into early retirement when he wasn’t ready. Harmes is IN CONTRACT and exploring his options. I haven’t heard a peep from Melbourne saying we want him to go.
  8. I get where you’re coming from, but this is footy. He’s contracted yet he’s choosing to explore his options. If he was that much a heart and soul player who loved his teammates so much, he’d understand that he can’t be ahead of Trac, Clarry and Viney and get on with it and do what the team needs him to do. Like when Gus played 3 different roles this year because this is what the team required of him. I would be happy for Harmes to stay. He got a big long contract from us after we pulled him off the rookie list. He won a flag with us. He is a regular in the 22. We’ve done absolutely nothing wrong by him, so if he’s choosing to explore his options then so be it. Clearly he isn’t that fussed about his teammates missing him and I’m sure they’ll get over it too. He’s not dying he’s maybe moving to a different team. They can still all be friends and love each other.
  9. I think Jayden is someone we all universally want to see do well. I hope he’s leaving with no hard feelings and I certainly would love nothing more than to see him do really well at West Coast (although I despise that club).
  10. Brayshaw > Harmes + Hunt Brayshaw is a proven A grader in not one but three field positions. Harmes is barely a proven A grader in one.
  11. I’m very positive that this would be driven by the club. He’s contracted so we won’t do anything unless it suits us.
  12. I believe so would the club, but Jayden has the right to secure a better deal for himself and we clearly didn’t want to give him 3 years. At 27 he knows he’s always going to be a fringe player at Melbourne. His time is running out. I’m happy for him and wish him all the success.
  13. All the best Jayden. Pick 52. Ouch.
  14. He also played off in a flag... all be it in a losing side.
  15. Would have been nice for him to add "and he will sign a long term deal soon". We have got to secure his services for the future ASAP. These damn SA and WA kids really love their home states...
  16. We have a very good trading partnership with GWS. Hopefully they will agree to this deal, but it seems too good to be true.
  17. Why are these two deals linked? We are not going to give Collingwood a top 10 pick for Grundy, which is what we are asking for Jackson. I reckon the two deals are separate.
  18. They dropped him because he breached team rules and his form was bad. Welcome to the big league little boy. The world does not revolve around you and it won’t be any easier at Port These 18 year olds make more money than most of us can ever dream of, yet they can’t handle the smallest hurdle.
  19. How did they treat him poorly? He was arguing with senior players on the field. He breached team rules and buggered off home without telling them. They invested pick one in him and he’s shown not an ounce of respect for them. Yes they are a hot mess. Guess what, so are 99% of clubs who hold pick one each year.
  20. Absolutely [censored] poor. These kids all want to be pick one but play for successful club. Well that’s not how the system works. Where is the resilience? This guy won’t make it unless he grows up.
  21. Why would we table 3 years then? Unlike Hunt who I believe we pushed, I think we wanted to keep Toby but it came down to lack of opportunities. We couldn’t promise him a regular game at senior level and that’s obviously what he wants.
  22. It’s a disappointing result for mine, but one I completely understand. You can’t continue to not reward players. He’s certainly good enough to play senior footy and yet we gave him a 7 week run as a sub with 10 active minutes on the field. Deserves better. I would rather keep him than Melksham for another year, but I understand these aren’t really the choices we make.
  23. I can’t see how Baker survives a list cull
