  1. Geelong is the side I least fear in finals (except Brisbane), because I truly believe that if you take away their home ground advantage, they would not have made top 4 for the past few seasons. Just as I don't think we win that round 23 game last year if there is a crowd down there. They know how to play that skinny narrow dump like nobody else does. They gave away all their cards by playing us how they thought they could beat us. What else have they got left come finals? How do they stop Gawn when fit and firing? I would far rather meet Geelong in finals at the MCG than Carlton or Freo. Still doesn't make losing to that disgusting bunch of knobs any more palatable. But we will get ours in finals. Of that I am sure.
  2. A lot of players are away/ on a break this weekend given the 9 days break between games. That suggest to me we are tapering off. We haven't had a normal bye like every other side either... which apparently is totally ok for AFL to do to just one club!
  3. Should stick to Burger King
  4. I’m not sure it puts any pressure on him. If he comes in and has a taste then that’s a great motivator for him to keep working on his craft at VFL level. We can always bring in Weideman if he struggles. Against Port with a small crowd, in a bit of a nothing time slot, I reckon is a good chance to give him a taste. If he performs, well that is amazing, if he doesn’t, then so be it. I don’t think he has to perform for us to beat Port or win the flag, so there really is no pressure. He isn’t coming in to cover a role that was being performed to perfection by someone who is no longer performing it. He’s coming it to hopefully cover an already NQR forwardline.
  5. Bowey debuted about the same time last year with only so so form in the VFL. I understand they play a very different role and that it’s much easier for a small half back to integrate into a side versus a tall KPF. But I am truly starting to warm to the idea of giving JVR a taste against Port. Our forwardline is not great at the moment and while I don’t expect him to be a quick fix, nor do I think the losses this year have come due to the forwards (all loses were due to poor contested work, losing the midfield battle and injuries), I think he could give us a different look.
  6. Can’t be too far off. Our forwardline is more dysfunctional than a guest on Jerry Springer right now.
  7. Ask Clarry. Got like 11 contested possessions after Selwood broke it. The guy is a freak.
  8. When have I ever been anything but club first? I will support and be loyal to our players until the end. But once they’re out I couldn’t give a single [censored] about them. I want what’s best for my club. We are in a premiership window that we waited 57 years for. I’m not about to let a 3rd year player that we spent pick 3 on just walk out for lesser compensation than we deserve and make our direct competitor a better side. I hope the club is a lot less compassionate than some of the supporters here. This is a ruthless business and we need to get the best deal for ourselves. Jackson’s needs are the lowest priority for me if, after giving him everything he could ask for including offering to help move his family across, he still chooses to leave. Of course I want him to stay. But if he doesn’t I move on very quickly to getting us the best deal possible and that won’t happen if Jackson holds us over a barrel and refuses to entertain going to West Coast. I think it’s ludicrous to use home sickness as an excuse but then insist on going to a specific club. That’s not real home sickness.
  9. I would get a lifetime ban if I told you what I really think about this club and their captain.
  10. Get absolutely [censored] Selwood. You are a piece of [censored]!
  11. Of course he’s screwing us if he nominates Freo when he knows full well we will get better compensated if he went to West Coast. Height of arrogance for somebody who has only achieved what he’s achieved because of the club he found himself at and not vice versa Totally different scenario. Firstly Lever had a partner and kid on the way. Secondly Adelaide was a horrible mess of a club. Jackson is 21. Not married. No kids. No problems playing for and winning flags.
  12. Firstly he is on record saying Nic Nat was his favourite player, which is super weird for a Freo fan... but ok. Secondly that was clearly me trying to make people laugh. Nic Nat is overrated and overweight tho... just saying.
  13. I am not saying we do it, I am saying that we threaten to do it and tell Jackson that WA is his home, Freo is not his home. He doesn't get to choose a goddamn club after 3 years in the system where we gave him absolutely everything, including a flag! I do not want us being bent over. I think we need to make it clear that we will facilitate a trade to WA, and will deal with whoever gives us the best deal. If that's West Coast, then tough [censored]. He has no right to screw us, and equally to your question, how many young up and coming stars have screwed over their club recently? Very few. Most will want to facilitate a good outcome for the club that gave them so much and invested a lot in them. Jackson is not leaving on bad terms. He should have no motivation to hurt the club that gave him so much. He can say he wants to get to Freo, but equally understands that the club needs to get back the investment it has made in him and secure a good deal. Doubt he wants to play against a [censored] off Jack Viney for the next 5 years.
  14. Jackson has not a single goddamn right to nominate a club. Wasn't he a West Coast fan growing up? Wasn't NicNat his hero? How about he goes to West Coast and learns how to be an overweight ruckman from the most overrated player in the game. He can teach him how to have commentators falling over themselves when he has 3 possessions. And he can enjoy the pressure of living in WA and being a highly paid 'messiah'. That never went wrong for anyone.
  15. If North pass on Jackson they might as well just fold. Like seriously they can't be that bad at football!
  16. I highly doubt these contracts are related. Gus will be given what he is worth and what we can afford, regardless of Jackson. If Jackson goes we need to find money to get another ready made ruck to help Gawn, unless we want to send Gawn to an early grave.
  17. This kills me. Freo enquired about Jackson and we rightly said bugger off. If Jackson had said to us look I am probably heading home at the end of this contract, then of course you make that deal happen because it's actually a win win and a fair deal all around. Cerra is a gun and would make us a better side. To do it this year when Freo has bugger all to give us in terms of picks, is just infuriating!
  18. Correct. North won't finish above West Coast, and they also have all the money in the world, so even if Jackson puts a price on his head they can pay it. They certainly have more cap space than Freo!
  19. Another unnecessary distraction. Surely Gus knows what he wants to do by now. Really frustrating, and frankly I am getting fed up with players who have it all, playing for a well run club, with a chance to win more flags, and still stuffing about with contracts. This is what makes Clarry that extra special. He could literally go to any club, get paid a million dollar a year or more (probably 10 million a year at North), but instead he signed a year out to avoid any sort of rubbish conversations about his contract. Get on with it Gus!
  20. If Oliver is out, it will continue the long tradition of Geelong players doing whatever bodily harm they please to our players with zero consequences. I could scream with rage at how much I despise that club!
  21. If Jackson wants to go home, that's WA. I have zero interest in helping him get to Freo, because after 3 years at the club, where we made him a rising star, premiership player and worthy of a million dollar contract, we frankly owe him absolutely nothing. We certainly don't owe making him a premiership player at Freo, who is our direct competitor. We have done nothing but right by him, and if he chooses to screw us on the way out (and yes that is a big if), then I hope we play hardball and make him go to West Coast or he can end up at North. Our club can't afford to stuff around during this premiership window, as it might not come around again for a long long time.
  22. Except that we cannot afford to drop more games, especially against Port which is probably the 'easiest' game we have left for the year. You drop Fritta, you make a statement, but you also don't win the game, because you take away easily our best forward.
  23. If true, I have lost a lot of respect for Jackson.
  24. Yep. I wish him lifelong knee issues. And endless diarrhea
