  1. Nah I heard from a reliable source that it's because he doesn't want Petty to play as a forward.
  2. Straight swap for Trac or they won't even entertain it
  3. At least it's never boring being a Melbourne supporter!
  4. Exclusive vision of our ruck plans once Gawn reaches 35
  5. To be fair that mob manages like 50% of the industry. It's why everyone knows everything.
  6. Oh yes, Chris from Camberwell is definitely someone I suggest you listen to. He is not at all unhinged.
  7. I’ll have Nick Daicos and their future first, since they’ll be bottom 6 next year. Thanks McRae you self indulgent pr!ck
  8. There are two separate truths here tho That Trac is unhappy with the direction of the club, and that Trac wants to leave. I think the first is correct, and frankly what senior player should be happy from going from 4th to bottom 6th? The second however, is a very big stretch.
  9. Supporters would be ok to get rid of Clarry, but happy to bring party boy Smith in? How is Smith going to be better for our culture?
  10. Trac is a very emotional guy. I think (hope) that in time he will regret how this has played out. He is obviously being driven by the trauma that he's experienced and it's obviously clouding his judgement. You also need to remember that his brother works for his management group. There are a lot of conflicted interests here. If he really wanted out, he would come out and say he wants out (not let some rumours filter thru), and force the club's hand to do a trade. The club has come out and said he is categorically going nowhere, therefore there is nothing for him to say right now. One would assume that Trac read or was privy to the media release before it was sent out. This is not news to the club, just because Morris reported it as 'news' doesn't make it so. The timing of the leak could also show that Trac did not want any distractions while the club was still in finals contention, because he does actually care about the club.
  11. And Houston, who has been playing for like 10 seasons, has never in his life encountered internal conflict and is not well aware that these thing are common place in football clubs? He plays for Port for goodness sake, Hinkley has been getting the sack there every year for 5 years now. I reckon other clubs smelled blood and are pouncing like vultures. If a trade has been sorted with Port already, then not only will other clubs have to satisfy Houston, they would also have to trump our deal.
  12. My apologies, you suggested that Viney was demoted because he demanded high standards. That suggested to me that Gawn was then made captain because he didn't have the same demands. Viney is still VC and has been for many many years, probably because he demands high standards. I don't think Viney was demoted because of what he was demanding, but because of how he was demanding it. That's just my take, but of course I wouldn't know for sure.
  13. I think it's very harsh to suggest that Gawn doesn't demand high standards, considering the player he is and that he led us to a flag. I think Gawn just goes about demanding standards in a manner that appeals to more players than Viney did.
  14. I wonder if the players' frustration with Trac going to Noosa, is not that he went there to recover, but that while he was away from the club he continued to be annoyed at the standards on display, despite not being inside the 4 walls. It's one thing to demand better when you are leading by example, another when you are removed from the situation. I think Gawn would be entitled to be annoyed if his standards are being questioned, when he's also battling injuries and playing as well as he possibly can, or take it personally as an attack on his captaincy. I am not saying it's right or wrong, I am just trying to see it from both points of view. Either way, it doesn't seem like anything that can't be resolved with a chat and a good pre-season. If standards are slipping, and I have no doubt they are, then the only way to fix it, is to be honest and admit that changes need to be made.
  15. Inconsistent? He is elite for goals per game! Compare him to say Charlie Cameron, he’s kicked more goals from two less games, while also playing midfield minutes, in a team that hasn’t performed as well. He is also 7 years younger and played like 200 less games. It was a [censored] take from Cornes.
  16. I think you and I are listening to a different Kane. He has done everything but call Clarry a cultural cancer. Suggesting we let him go for nothing (or give away our first round pick too!) just to be rid of him, while at the same time saying Collingwood were too quick to give up on Ginnivan. The man is an [censored].
  17. You’re right, it is a gross generalization. So is suggesting that someone who’s been incredibly successful in an environment for 6+ years, suddenly needs to leave that environment. As fans we can only judge a player on their on field output. Many are equating Clarry’s on field “failure” this season, with an off field failure. But you don’t need to take my word for it, just listen to Goody yesterday on how well Clarry is doing off the field. This is not in spite of, but because of the club and the support it put around Clarry. If Clarry had a brilliant season on the field, and we know why he didn’t, would anyone suggest he needs a change of environment? Geelong is undoubtedly a brilliantly run club. But even this brilliantly managed club had a player, who they just re-signed mind you, get taken away in an ambulance from a nightclub a few weeks ago. Given the intense media attention Clarry has received over the last 12 months, I can’t see how the fishbowl environment of Geelong would be a better fit. Not to mention that Geelong has nothing to give us.
  18. Fair enough. Agree to disagree. I am sticking to what I know to be true, just as I’ve said all year that Clarry was battling fitness and injuries and got abused for making excuses for him. As a side note, anyone who has or knows someone with ADHD knows that a change of routine or scenery, would actually not be in any way beneficial. Routine and structure is very important, it’s a big part of why Clarry has played all year. The club is his family, and despite what the media says about us, the club has done an amazing job helping him with his mental health struggles. If they didn’t want him to stay they wouldn’t have bothered, they would have traded him last year when his value was much higher. Instead they chose to rehabilitate him. Anyway, I would be truly shocked if he was elsewhere next year. In fact, if he left I would donate $100 to a charity if your choice. Win win.
  19. Most in the media have NFI what they’re talking about. They literally flip and flop on a weekly basis. They had Carlton as premiers, they told me Bevo was getting sacked. They get paid for clicks, not for truths.
  20. Ok so what is the point? It’s very clear that we hold the power given both of their contracts. If Goodwin is saying they’re staying, it’s because as senior coach he knows we will not trade them regardless of what offers come our way for them. I don’t know how many more ways the club can say they’re not leaving.
  21. If you think the Hogan situation is the same as the Trac and Clarry situations, then I can’t help you.
  22. Why would Goodwin sit in a press conference and categorically state both Clarry and Trac will be playing at Melbourne next year, if there was even a shred of doubt about it? It is not up to either Clarry or Trac. Both signed long term deals and both won’t be let out of those deals after one bad season. Besides, Clarry is not going to throw the support the club has given him back in their face. If anyone suggests otherwise, they don’t know Clarry at all. Finals can’t come quick enough so the media can talk about something else… like Port and Brisbane inevitably sh!!ting the bed.
  23. Who said it didn’t happen? Goodwin literally said today that conversations are being had. Nobody has once denied that talks are ongoing in an effort to improve performance. And if Houston has decided this doesn’t suit him, then frankly he can bugger off. Coming from a club that has done SFA despite finishing top 4 for the last decade, he might not be aware that improvement is possible 🙄
