Farewell Sam Weideman
It's a win win deal. I wonder if we trade pick 37 for Hunter.

Grundy is a totally different situation. Pies didn’t pay us a top 10 pick to take him. We did a trade. Yes it was unders but it was still a proper trade where Pies got pick 27 and we go a player and we are sharing his salary. This deal is basically paying for top end draft picks. It’s stupid.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Thought his statement was very lovely and spoke of a player deeply hurt by what went on at Collingwood. No different to Treloar, he will have a point to prove and might finally help us beat Collingwood.

Of course if Melbourne got that deal I would be over the moon, but the reality is that this is a one sided trade and makes a mockery of the draft, trade week and list management practices. You can't just throw away top 10 draft picks because you overcooked your books and need to get rid of contracted players. I am the first person to get annoyed at players holding clubs over a barrel, but likewise you can't commit to players for long term on big dollars, then go "oh noes" and then do a stupid deal to dump them. It's akin to Melbourne going "soz Oliver we can't honour your 7 year deal... please go to Geelong and we will give Geelong pick 7 as well". WTF?!

Farewell Luke Jackson
If you want to see what real class is, have a look at Jayden Hunt's Instagram. A player we essentially didn't try too hard to keep, being gracious and thankful, versus a player we spent pick 3 on, who won a flag with us, and who ran home at the first chance he got.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
He was always too hipster for the Collingwood Football Club

Welcome to Demonland Josh Schache
Just there for the free booze perhaps? I don't have an issue with Sache as cheap back filler. Essentially a Mitch Brown replacement. I just don't know why you'd trade Weideman for peanuts only to end up with an equally underwhelming option. Unless we think Weideman will leave next year and we will get even less than third round pick for him perhaps?

Farewell Brodie Grundy
We lost on the Jackson trade, but at least we won big time on this one. Absolute bargain for a top 5 AFL ruckman.

Yes but why replace Weideman with someone 10 times less capable? It's not like Weideman is taking up a heap of cap space.

Farewell Luke Jackson
The fact he met with Freo mid season only further supports my thinking that he knew last year too that he was going back to WA and had he been honest we could have traded him last year for a lot more. Including Cerra. Was obviously hoping for another flag.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I wasn’t happy with how he or his manager handled themselves and the last 24 hours have not changed my mind. The only reason more supporters aren’t angry about this charade is because we won a flag last year with Jackson playing a big part. But guess what, we would have won it even without him. Would he have been a RS, a premiership player or gotten a $7,000,000 contract without Melbourne? No he wouldn’t have. Seems ungrateful. Don’t wish him ill of course, but don’t wish him luck either. The grass isn’t always greener Jackson. Enjoy the WA bubble. You’ll sure as hell want to perform now!

Farewell Luke Jackson
Didn’t watch it. Assume he didn’t say thanks to our club for making him the player he is?

Let’s see if Jackson returns the same courtesy to us with a nice thank you.

Except that clubs that need points already have then, and this is meant to be a shallow draft. Besides we can't trade pick 27, how do we get the Grundy deal done without it?
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
How do we get the Grundy deal done then? And who would take picks 13 and 27 for pick 6?

Farewell Luke Jackson
I really hope you are right. Mahoney was the king of this period. Not sure if we've lost our edge since he left.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I am so disappointed that the club has come out and said we want 2 top 10 picks for Jackson and more than pick 44 for Bedford, and somehow we agreed to both deals that we didn't want. I am all for getting deals done, but this has really been a bad outcome unless something magical happens and we turn the Jackson picks into gold.

Farewell Sam Weideman
Well now the Jackson deal is done, we have nothing to gain by trading Weideman unless Essendon offer us something decent. Perhaps their second round pick to on trade for Grundy, or a third round to sweeten the Grundy deal or bundle up with our second round to move up? We gotta get value for this deal. I know Weideman is a bits player, but we are so short on ruck and forward depth, and we have invested so many years into him. To lose him for a pick we won't even use, is just silly.
