Vice captain
The playing group clearly don't agree, as they vote on the leadership each year. This is not a Goodwin and co decision.

What they are saying at Moore Park
My hope is that the Gawn injury is a blessing in disguise as it’ll sort of force our hand to play JVR who might just be the star we need to change our attack. It also gives the rest of our leaders a good opportunity to standup. I was very disappointed with how the group reacted when Gawn went down. Other than Lever, the rest of the leaders did not deliver. Viney especially needs to have a good game this week after a poor showing last week. I want to believe last week was a one off. If we beat the Swans we are 2-1 and head into a stretch of “softer” games in a great position even without Max. Lose and you’d want to make sure you win all of the next 6 games.

Rising Star Drought at the Dees
It’s fine JVR will debut this week and kick 10 and go on to win the rising star, the Coleman and a flag.

Christian Salem Knee Injury
Tell me you can't catch a break without telling me you can't catch a break. Poor Salo.

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Sydney
Salem out for a half a season. It will be a miracle if he is back to his best this season. That's 2 seasons down the drain for him. Such a shame. Looks like Petty has avoided serious injury to his knee, which I think sort of got lost in all the Gawn injury drama. That is very good news. May will surely be right to go, that's a full 3 weeks since calf strain. Should be cherry ripe. I was sure JVR was going to debut in round 4 vs West Coast at his home state anyway, and that one of BB or TMac (or even Gawn) was going to be rested and excused from that long flight. So one week earlier isn't that much of a concern. When one door closes and all that... bring him in and lets see how he goes. Also WTF is a pelvis injury? Sounds very painful. P.S.- I knew last week's injury list was a bad omen.

Cry me a river hawks supporters!!!
They’ll do it all on their own. We don’t need to help them.

I really have to repeat my earlier question but pose it to GWS. Why are we sticking with this experiment?

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Sydney
Don’t get me wrong, Sydney and Pies are two teams I have no confidence of beating no matter how good or bad either side is. I’m not confident at all that we can win and I have no idea how a 1-2 start to the season will go down for us. But just as we can’t get overly excited that Essendon are 2-0 because they beat Hawks and CG, we also can’t applaud Sydney for beating the same two sides, coming off a GF appearance.
