  1. This is a key issue! We need to turn the 10,000 plus MCC members who barrack for Melbourne into full members, or at the very least make them pay more for a duel membership. If scaring them is the way to go, than so be it. After all, they pay their MCC membership to go to games and watch Melbourne play. If Melbourne relocated, folded or moved their home games to TD or Casey, a great deal of their membership money would be wasted. I find it difficult to stomach the fact that people will pay hundreds of dollars for an MCC membership, but won't fork out $120 odd for a full membership of their club. The MCC also needs to realise that they're likely to lose a lot of long time members if the MFC ceased to exist in its current form. If you choose to give your money to a rich organisation that has all but turned its back on our club, but you won't give your money to our club, than what sort of supporters are you? I understand that MCC memberships give you various benefits that an MFC membership never will, but it does NOT support our club and at the end of the day why do you go the football? To sit at the MCG or to watch the Melbourne Football Club! We need to turn MCC members into MFC members. That should be the number one priority of the new administration going forward.
  2. One more time for dramatic affect. P.S.- if your signature gets any longer Yze_Magic, it'll need a forum all to itself.
  3. It's a great idea. As a full-time student my finances are bordering on hobo-status, but even I can afford $18.58 a month. Alternatively, 50% less pairs of shoes a year, and our club will be debt free in roughly 2 years
  4. I doubt very much my comment will get published. The good people of Adelaide will surely censor my thoughts on the fact that old Cornes gets a public arena to discuss the insane dribbles of his mind, with absolutely no reason or fact
  5. And is lazy with attitude problems. His performance in Round 1 was the worst display of attitude I have ever seen from a 19 year old. Leadership and the work ethic of Miller he'll never have, and we all know how far natural ability alone gets you. When Newton strings together a whole season, putting his body on the line, taking contested marks and kicking goals consistently, he'll start to interest me. Until then, I'd take a hard-working Miller anyday of the week. Dean Bailey seems to agree.
  6. Soon we'll have more forums than members. We already have one more forum than wins on the board. :D
  7. That is exactly right, but the thing is that the players who often go missing are our senior players. In that second quarter, they needed to stand up and stem the tide, and with the exception of Green, none of them did. As you've said, young players are inconsistent. They probably thought the game was going to be easy after we dominated in the first quarter, and the Tigers caught them off guard. That's a poor outcome, and it shows a lack of maturity, but at the same time that we can't rely on our senior players (whoever is left standing) to lead the way is a real worry. Junior, Bruce, White and Yze were all extremely poor in the second quarter and that's a big reason why once the Tigers got on a role, we couldn't stop them. The kids went into shock, and our senior players did what they always do, go back into their shell. That's also why we've been so inconsistent in general for the past 10 years. One year up, one year down. One good game, one bad game. One good quarter, one bad quarter. It's been happening for a long time, well before we fielded a daycare group.
  8. Will never be a star, but can be a solid contributer to the side for many years to come. He is important to our structure because he straightens us up, and even when he doesn't take the mark, he makes a good competitive effort out of it. And he has well and truly busted the myth that he can't kick (especially goals). As I said in another thread, had Newton played the game Miller did yesterday, people would be blowing their load over it. I just hope Miller can keep contributing on the scoreboard, and that will only happen if Bate pushes up the ground and allows Miller to stay inside 50. His goal from the boundary after he forced a holding the ball decision, was all class.
  9. If Juice played the game Miller did, people would be all over it calling him the next Wayne Carey. Miller had a very good, productive game yesterday. His kicking was spot on, and he took some good grabs. His form this year has been much improved and he deserves a lot of recognition for turning his fortunes around, as does Bailey.
  10. After his pathetic attempts at tackling yesterday, Yze is well and truly done. Valenti out for Yze sounds about right.
  11. Anyone know whether this waste of space has a contact address? Wouldn't mind giving this [censored] a history lesson. The only one who is irrelevant is him and his opinions. Divert the attention away from the fact that one SA club lost the Grand Final by 100 points, while the other has failed miserably to capitalize on their ladder position in the last few seasons. Pathetic.
  12. He didn't blow my socks off, but he worked hard and went hard and that's all you can really ask from someone who hasn't played senior footy consistently... well ever. Daniher never showed enough faith in him to play him consistently. And yes I know he hasn't shown a lot in 5 years, but neither did Godfrey The point is, he deserves to play out the season and gain some confidence. We're already on our way to a spoon, so we've got nothing to lose. Once and for all can we find out whether he's worth anything, or whether he was a waste of a F/S pick? Otherwise he might spend another couple of years clogging our list, or worse we'll let him go and he'll turn into a gun (highly unlikely, but we are the Melbourne Football Club, so nothing would surprise me). The one thing he has, is a bit of dash. In a team of slow plodders (who I love dearly), that's an excellent trait to have.
  13. I admire Richo. He is a freak on the field, and a very loyal servant to a crap club off the field. He reminds me a lot of Neita in that respect. If only Neita was till running around making the impact Richo is at his age
  14. Wonder if Richmond supporters think that Tuck was good, except he let McLean run wild...? At the end of the day McLean is not a tagger, and his main role is not to stop his direct opponent. Of course he has to chase and man-up when the ball is going the other way (which he does, and he lays as many tackles as anyone), but if you play him on a damaging player, expect both players to get the ball equally. It's a case of, would you rather the opposition tag McLean out of the game, or would you rather let McLean and his direct opponent do as they please?
  15. It's working ok this year, with the exception of Bruce being one of the co-captains. And it worked in Brisbane and it certainly worked in Sydney. I think it's the best way of getting McLean into the job he rightfully deserves, without putting all the pressure on him straight away. Still, if Green is captain and McLean is vice captain, the end result is still the same... our leadership group is not a joke!
  16. Only Miller deserves to stay from the current group. McLean, Green, possibly Jones are all definite inclusions. In fact, why do we need 7 leaders? Green and McLean as co-captains will do nicely.
  17. God only knows. He was shocking! 6- McLean 5- Garland 4- Green 3- Bruce 2- Wheatley 1- Miller
  18. Thank you! Glad someone else saw his errors today. Yes he had some good pick ups and his pace was especially important on the wing, but he just bombs the ball with no purpose and turns it over. Was costly today. Green and McLean are the standout leaders of this club. Both put their bodies on the line and lead from the front. I just wish they'd leave Green in one position and let him dominate. Being thrown all around the ground must be frustrating.
  19. Not that it gives me any pleasure to bring this thread up again, but what were you saying tarzan16? :D Another great game from the Brock. Disposal was spot on, quick handballs in close were terrific. Not only that but he showed some fantastic leadership out there. Sought out Morton and told him to keep his head up after he fluffed yet another kick. Oh and a player who doesn't care doesn't get his nose broken twice in 3 weeks because he is constantly on the bottom of packs.
  20. Spot on. So he fluffed his kicks, but how many times did he find miles of space? run to the right position? If there is one thing you can't teach a player, it's being able to read and understand the play. He constantly runs to the right position and he has pace, and I could snap him like a twig. If he turned it over 19 times a game this year, I'd still be happy to have him out there learning. You don't drop a kid because he's had a few bad kicks. You retain him because he finds the ball, and he knows where to run and he has a football brain. Thank god he has a football brain!
  21. Come on now, just admit you were wrong about him and that he's going to be a great player Nasher, Wheatley turned nearly every possession over. Sure he gets a lot of ball, too bad he can't use it. Garland hit every disposal that I can remember, and was fantastic both down back and up on the wing. His pace keeps surprising me.
  22. Thanks! Newton with 4 on return and Petterd in the best. Excellent news. Hope to see them both in Sandy seniors next week. For people who watched the game, can we get a review of that list of 'best' players, as usually reality varies greatly from the match report. Cheers.
  23. Final scores for those of us who spent the whole day studying for exams....??
  24. Equal 9th according to Pro Stats (on 281): http://www.pro-stats.com.au/psw/web/player_rankings?rt=LT. Can't believe you actually bothered bringing this up and looking at comparative stats. Does it really make a difference to my argument if he's on 276 and 10th or on 281 and 9th? And a player who doesn't care does not find himself on the bottom of packs every week. That assertion was probably the most idiotic thing written in this thread, and that says a lot.
