Beams signs for 3 ... Cloke edges closer to Dees?
cowboy_from_hell replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Exactly. I'm sure the club had a look at the draft prospects and viney and realized we could actually win some games with cloke Clarke and a good midfield -
Forget Goddard ... Get Lenny Hayes
cowboy_from_hell replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree. But it would never ever happen. -
Goddard is a no for me. I don't want to pay that much for a floating half back. Key position players are a lot harder to find and therefore are more expensive. I don't think a older version of watts is worth squillions.
-
Definitely not a Tippett fan. A lot of demonlanders believe cloke isn't worth the coin I don't agree but can understand the argument. Tippett is demanding close to 700k a year! If cloke isn't worth it then Tippett definitely ain't worth it

Yep he deserves to be cited but so does that [censored] Lindsay Thomas and plenty of others

If the money was equal for Cloke or two quality mids I would take the mids any day of the week.Sewell just signed with the hawks and I'm not sure about Montagna but at least you are having a crack. Most would just type mids, mids, mids. -

Fair point i'll take that. If there were two good mids available I would take the mids over Cloke no doubt. When Beams and Sidebottom were both un signed I wanted us to offer them 500k a year each for 5 years. But it doesn't look like apart from Boak that there are many mids available. -
Lance Franklin a late withdrawal ... again
cowboy_from_hell replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surely robbo's Herald sun could run a double page spread and use stats on Buddy's "Hamstring" injury and late withdrawls and then quote a anonymous source that says he has received his third strike. Robbo could then promote it on 360 as a major article backed up by rock solid evidence. Or do they just make up [censored] for articles on our club? -
Can't agree on Cook developing and Gawn will take a long time to get going. Evans has to stay and I believe he will. With no training for most of the year he has an impact in the games he has played for Casey.
-
Yeah agree. He has played well after his knee reco and is still young and in experienced but that one bad game should be his last. Especially for big guys who should play well from their first game till their last. Mark Jamar comes to mind. He was hailed as the best damn thing from his first game. So was Mumford too, that's why I'm sure Geelong are rapped that Sydney took him off their hands. We should draft a young ruckman and throw him in their with gorilla's as opponents and if he doesn't set the world on fire then he is fired too as well as Mark Neeld cause that's his fault too!

It's hard enough to wait for Lucas Cook to play. I couldn't handle having to wait 5 years for Gumbleton to be declared injury free.

Lance Franklin a late withdrawal ... again
cowboy_from_hell replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
In all seriousness if there has been 3 strikes shouldn't it be an immediate suspension? Would for arguments sake Matthew Bate (Sorry Bater) get the same treatment with 3 strikes as one of the games superstars? Or am I in dreamland where everyone is equal. -

This doesn't look good maybe they have put buddy on ice till finals or buddy took it upon himself to do it -

Do remember Clo He is also the bloke who nearly won the grand final on his own last year kicking goals from 60 metres out. -

I don't get the "he isn't worth the money" point of view. The contract would be Heavily front ended to the point when Cloke is 30 he would be on bugger all. Right now we don't have many players who command high salaries and Jones,Howe and Trengove are all signed up so no one will be pushed out by Cloke's wage. The aim of front ending the contract means if we are any good in 5 years time we will still have cap room to pay our good players. It's all gravy baby! -
Why are the Roos doing so well at the moment?
cowboy_from_hell replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Remember when North were getting belted by anyone in the top 8? They had 100 point losses and everyone was going after boomer to retire and Wells to be traded. They stuck together and 3 years on they are what they are. It's amazing what happens when you give people a chance. -

The term has been used a fair bit recently so i'll have a crack. Blind Freddy can see when we win the midfield battle on the day we have no forward structure. I say get cloke+ viney+caddy+toumpas/boak and we are good as gold. -
The Misson experiment as you call it is very new and fitness to an elite level takes a long time 2-3 years for some and longer for others. As you push your body to the extreme you are going to get hurt along the way.
-
His fitness is my biggest issue he seems to be a carbon copy of gysberts lots of talent with no tank. I'm sure Casey would be happy to have him but his impact at senior level is 2 years away.

Totally agree and people need to understand that if a elite mid was available we would and should go after them but there isn't many out there who are out of contract and willing to leave. -

Pretty sure 25 isn't old. There is plenty of upside when a out of form forward is still the number one contested marking player in the league. If anyone is happy with our forward line at the moment then they must be happy eating cat sh!t for dinner too. -
Good luck Liam. As for us the fans, the turd sandwich we have received this year just had sprinkles added to it.

Yeah that's not bad at all. My dream draft would be Cloke + Viney + Boak + Caddy + Toumpass. It all depends on Viney at a later pick and a trade for Boak and Caddy but I can dream.
