We've got some big gaps to fill and not much to work with here. Hopefully we'll be able to make the best of it.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
Dees_In_October replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can't remember if we knew this already, but Bartlett mentioned in his B&F speech that this had been 2 or 3 years in the planning so far. -
To be honest, I never really thought of Max as necessarily leadership group material. Definitely an on-field or spiritual leader in the way he goes about it but not as a motivator or serious role model. His speech at the B&F made me see him in a new light. I was hanging off his every word, not just laughing at his jokes, and was about ready to take myself off to the dietitian he was so convincing. Certainly, I got the impression that the other players look up to him in more ways than one in recent times.

Caroline Wilson banned from Demon function

If you're going to do something like this, that is, uninvite someone whose absence will be noticed and will likely report or their un-invitation, you need to be upfront about why you're doing so. Otherwise, speculation just runs rife about each side and everyone comes out of it looking worse. Either make a stand or don't, but pick one. -
Another AFL integrity fail
Dees_In_October replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is minor in the scheme of things but that makes it even more mind-boggling that it's even happened. It makes them look lazy and unprofessional for no good reason. -
It didn't end well, but he did bring a much-needed edge and aggression that some of our other players have since refined and built on (and maybe learned from what happened to him).

An excellent role model to our young players - wherever you are told to play on the field or at whichever level, give it your all and you'll end up much loved and well-respected. All the best, Cam.

Well done to Angus and Max. Having said all that, if you had to take one player out of any team this season and have the most impact, it would be Max. To some extent, that's the nature of the ruck role, but that's no reason why his influence shouldn't be rewarded! The lack of votes in the St Kilda game in particular is just jaw-dropping. Anyway... congrats to Jetta for the Community Award (he's an even better human than he is a footballer, and that's saying something!)
