  1. Hang on Saty. Jeff Beck? Eric Clapton? Hendrix? Page? Berry?
  2. I'd love to grab these off you Franky, already have a few from the 70's and trying to build a bit of a collection!
  3. Hunt and Saad are the two to watch from Coburg. Was really hoping to see Salem or Kennedy-Harris in the seniors this weekend, but I'm looking forward to Weideman bouncing back from a quiet couple of games.
  4. Haven't had a chance to have a look at Preacher but did get to meet Craig Rosenberg recently, who is a writer on the show. Great guy and doing very well over in the US (worked on Lost for a long time), as are many other Australian film/TV people at the moment! I just re-watched the original The Office and the brilliance of this show just blows me away every time. Still Gervais' best work by a mile, and craps all over the American version.
  5. I'm just gonna ride my scooter right out of this thread.
  6. No it won't, but practicing at training and under simulated conditions will improve your chances of kicking a goal in a real match. And don't you think there are skills or ways of training for goal kicking that AFL players might be exposed to, that juniors weren't?
  7. And how do they plan on getting Hogan for nothing? The whole 'we'll snare him in the pre-season draft' scenario never really happens, and if he were to actually leave, Jesse isn't the kind of player that would pull a move like that and shaft the MFC. I'm more confident that he is staying in Melbourne with every week that passes.
  8. Whoever is potting Kent's performance on the weekend has no idea. He was great, and gained a lot of ground for us in conditions where metres gained are so important.
  9. That's often how an autobiography goes...
  10. Definitely worth a first rounder at least. A top ten pick would be a decent result, but losing Tom will set us back a way, unless we can replace him with a similar player... which isn't likely.
  11. He's not too small, he has played very well in a number of games this year. The issue is consistency, which I hope he can find.
  12. Jones' longevity is phenomenal - he's missed something like 3 games since he was drafted. He'll play until 32/33 I think, which gives him another 4 years approximately. After that, it'll be up to the generation of Jetta, Viney, Watts, Gawn, McDonald to provide that senior leadership. Admittedly it's still a bit of a gap (again, atrocious drafting), but they'll be more numerous and good leaders. Until then we are still in for a bit of a rollercoaster, unless we draft in players to fill that gap, which I can definitely see us doing.
  13. He's only 23 bb. I think Tom has plenty of improvement in him (one facet in particular). If you look at players like Rance or Grundy (and other talls in general), they really hit their straps at about 26/27. Rance was rubbish when he was younger, especially with his decision making. Tom's career could even follow a similar trajectory.
  14. It goes back to that extremely poor period of drafting which has left us with the generation gap that went unfilled. Now we finally have a couple of quality players around that 30 mark in Jones and Vince, but the damage has been done already. It'll take time but the gap is closing.
  15. Hogan did not look interested at all yesterday. Rubbish conditions for a key forward but Watts provided far more competitiveness. Jones and Tyson were fantastic and Petracca showed some salivating signs.
  16. Lets wring our hands at the thought of every other team trying to poach him while we're at it!
  17. Definitely more than what we should be paying him. But not above what I think some teams would offer, so therein lies the problem.
  18. Jeff Farmer's 9 goals in a half against Collingwood, 2000.
  19. Definitely overstated but there is something to internal culture. A group of talented kids who are good mates will play better footy than a group of talented kids who are not. That internal culture has always been said to be strong at the Swans, with players passionate about supporting and standing up for each other. It's something we haven't had much of until arguably this year. And yes, the iceberg is enormous. They'll keep it hidden though, they've become good at it.
  20. Spot on. Youth often means fadeouts, loss of concentration and inconsistency. Bloody frustrating but understandable. Something that has really stuck with me was what Nathan Jones said last year about the importance of the youngsters understanding momentum shifts and how critical that becomes at crucial parts of a game. Pity he wasn't able to effect any kind of fight back either on Sunday.
  21. Going by the MRP form, I wouldn't be surprised if Hogan got a week for that elbow. Aside from that, who knows. Hard to identify the real strugglers when there are 19 of them on show on the same day.
  22. As much as I'm looking forward to seeing Goodwin in action, it would be fantastic if Roos announced that he simply couldn't accept a winning percentage of 25% at the MFC and stayed on as head coach for another 3 years.
  23. Talking about Hibberd, who I think is virtually already a lock. Don't mind this scenario Stuie. ANB is continually tearing it up in the VFL and seemingly can't get a game in the firsts. But, is he what GC are looking for?
  24. Lets not get too carried away. Dangerfield is currently the best player in the competition and Hunt has played a handful of games. That speed is breathtaking and his courage and dare are great to see, but lets not put too much expectation on the kids shoulders just yet.
