  1. From dc's post: He said he did not believe there could be any other explanation for the shooting: “I don’t have enemies or debts.” I'm not sure has has a grasp on reality, either.
  2. I like the term "old fashioned". But I'm not sure I know what it means.
  3. According to the published stats, Brayshaw only played 58% game time. If that figure is correct, it's very low, unless he was injured. On the plus side, 20 possessions and 9 tackles is a great output for 58% of game time.
  4. Just thinking about the process the Police will go through to investigate this. One task will be to rule out those people who don't want to hurt or silence him. Usually that list is longer than the one which includes those who want the victim hurt or silenced. In Dank's case, I can only think of one group who want him alive. That's the media.
  5. If I've understood this correctly, Dank was downstairs speaking on the phone at around 2.30 am when he was shot. If that's right, I'll take a wild guess and suggest the gunshot and the phone call were related. Otherwise, how unlucky is Dank to be in a place where he could be shot at that time of night?
  6. If that is indeed the final score I will be both delighted (in the win) and despairing (over the quality of football played).
  7. Perhaps we've misunderstood the term. After Dawes'apparent stint in the coaches' box at Casey last week, has anyone checked whether the door to the box is still on its hinges?
  8. Pity you've had to try to extend that feeling of happiness for over 50 years now
  9. Wasn't sure whether DWOTW meant "DimWit of the The Week" or "Demonland Word of the Week" (or a third option I can't think of). But I'll assume the second part of your sentence is not cynical or satirical and therefore go with the second definition. Acronyms should really be avoided unless their meaning is AOK.
  10. Reminiscing is fine. The enjoyment of supporting a club does not just have to be on the few hours of gameday. It's more fulfilling to be able to digest events and remind oneself of what was enjoyable about games past.
  11. That's a question for Collingwood supporters. They can speak from experience.
  12. Anybody under the age of 25 want to admit what they thought Deeoldfart was talking about here?
  13. It's interesting that there is an automatic assumption that the Essendon 12, should they choose to do so, have a "right" to leave Essendon. As I read the above, all they have a "right" to do is to argue to the AFL Grievance Tribunal that there has been a breach of contract. While they might be successful, I don't see the process as being simple, automatic or guaranteeing that those players could leave. Assuming for the moment that the Swiss appeal fails, I'm not convinced that the "Breach of Contract" argument will necessarily succeed. If nothing else, the Tribunal may ask why the players left it so long to claim such a breach. In other words, the Tribunal might see the argument as a means to an end (to leave the club) rather than meritorious in its own right.
  14. 73 scoring shots. That's entertainment.
  15. I think it's reasonable to call Robert Flower's State games as Demon Highlights. If nothing else, it showed everyone how sublime he really was. When he played State football he regularly dominated because he ran to the right spots and had the ball delivered to him on a platter. In most of his Melbourne games, he ran to the right spots only to see the ball miss him by metres.
  16. Robert Flower in a game against Richmond at the MCG where we put all players other than Flower on one side of the ground for kick ins from Richmond behinds. Flower beat his opponent comprehensively. Someone else will confirm his identity (Francis Bourke, perhaps?) but it was the Richmond coach's last game as coach. Greg Parke taking something like 16 marks against St Kilda in a game at Moorabbin in the days when most marks were contested. That would have been in the 1970s and time has made me believe that he took 16 contested marks that day. (My memory has also probably conveniently forgotten what he did with those kicks. I expect he may have converted them into something like 2 goals, 4 behinds, 3 out on the full and 7 turnovers).
  17. He won't be any taller in the forward line, so he's not going to be a KPF, either. What position would he play? I honestly don't know what his best position is any more.
  18. I'm not sure about that. It's not that he doesn't deserve it, but keeping him on the rookie list provides greater flexibility for recruitment and trading. As I understand it, Wagner has no choice. If the club chooses to offer him a contract as a rookie, he has no option but to accept it or take his chances in the draft which could see him go anywhere (or not be drafted at all, an unlikely scenario I would think.) It's one of the reasons why I support rpfc and agree that the rookie list should be abolished and lists extended by 4-6 spots. It unfairly classifies players chosen as rookies as second-class citizens.
  19. Dunn has the disadvantage of being 'only' 192 cm. That's not really tall enough for a key position defender. If he can't be a key position defender, what's his position going to be? In other words, I don't think he's competing for a position in the backline with either of the McDonald's or Frost. Rather, he's competing with Wagner, Hunt, Lumumba, Garland and White. And if he can't find a spot in the backline, I'm not sure there's anywhere else for him.
  20. Yes,something has been invented. It's called a retractable roof.
  21. I think there's a mistake in this formula. I don't think Peter Jes is his manager.
  22. If it is, with that name you've given yourself you're bound to see some interesting advertisements come your way.
