  1. Is "sugar daddy disorder" a thing?
  2. Watson should give back the physical medal. But in the overall scheme of things, it's not really that important. The physical medal is just a symbol of the award itself. Cotchin and Mitchell are the worthy winners of the award and whether they had been presented with a physical medal or not will be referred to as such in all the record books and in their personal resumes. Conversely, just because Watson is still in possession of the physical medal, does anyone here think that means he's still a Brownlow medallist?
  3. Interesting discussion about whether clubs prefer to improve the non-preferred or work on making the preferred side even better. Ignoring the obvious point that clubs could actually do both, I would have thought the sheer amount of improvement available by working on the non-preferred would mean that there is more to be gained by doing this. To use a cliche, it's low hanging fruit. I also hadn't thought about but respect DeeSpencer's point that improving the non-preferred is likely to keep the physiology of the body in better balance. (If you want to see the true effect of being one-sided, look at the relative size of the arms of tennis players such as Federer and Nadal. It's amazing they don't fall sideways.)
  4. Here's an update on the new business of Joel MacDonald, James Strauss and Rohan Bail. They've successfully floated their company on the ASX. It's great to see ex-players making a success of their post-football lives.
  5. Keep in mind that a player saying "he was embarrassed" might actually be overly harsh on himself because of impossibly high standards he sets. If Gary Ablett were to say he has been embarrassed by his time at the Gold Coast, would you consider that Gold Coast had made a mistake?
  6. Rather, it's pretty clear what you think Mitchell thinks. It's possible that Mitchell detests Jobe; that Mitchell likes Jobe and feels any discussion is unhelpful; that Mitchell has decided that private conversations should remain private; that Mitchell had always intended speaking to Jobe after the awards ceremony; that Mitchell had spoken to Jobe and made a promise not to speak to the media; that Mitchell was sorry and embarrassed for his 'syringe mime' and therefore didn't want to be reminded of that should any comment he make result in him being asked about it. I could go on.
  7. Not sure I like your idea of an omen given how rarely you win things. On the other hand, as we like to say when it happens, we don't mind if we win ugly as long as we win.
  8. Thanks Drunkn167. Here's a link to the same story online which some people with older eyes (like me) might find easier to read.
  9. Maybe. Or maybe Chris Dawes changed training standards, improved communication within the team and encouraged a new level of professionalism which has subsequently encouraged players like Hogan to stay and Lewis to join us. I haven't the faintest idea. But for posters to keep saying his recruitment was a failure may not be in possession of all the facts.
  10. Just on this point, is there a father-daughter rule similar to the father-son rule in the men's competition? And, hopefully, a mother-daughter and a mother-son rule might eventually take hold.
  11. And, I think, Hogan (or, at least, the right to draft him).
  12. Not sure if it was deliberate, but it made me laugh.
  13. I'm trying to work out which is more likely: they were allowed to compete because Stephen Dank provided compelling evidence to show how the Russian athletes did nothing wrong; or they were allowed to compete because the Russians were able to prove they had no association with Stephen Dank.
  14. These announcements would suggest you're both right. Here's the RSN announcement and here's the one from 3AW (it's toward the bottom).
  15. I wonder if Collingwood supporters feel the same way? Who have they got from us? Shane Woewodin, Simon Buckley, Jeremy Howe and now Lynden Dunn. Who else?
  16. If the value of the Bentleigh Club is in its pokies business (and it might not be - the land might be more valuable), the club will be waiting on a State Government decision as to the future of those pokies. The club (along with all other pokies venues) owns the rights to those pokies only up until 2022. Until the Government decides what to do post-2022, those pokies may have a very limited value and therefore the Bentleigh Club's value may be temporarily depressed.
  17. I'm still none the wiser on the details. Did he blow above zero but below 0.05%, which is an offence for a P-plater but is not driving drunk? Or was he over 0.05%? While the law is clear for a P-Plater, I think the penalty imposed by the club should reflect the specific situation. So, if he was driving with a blood alcohol level above zero but below 0.05%, the penalty seems about right. If he was over 0.05%, then I suspect the penalty should have been tougher.
  18. Did we choose them or were they allocated to us? The difference being that if we chose them I assume we have some specific interest in them.
  19. I realise from the number of "likes" you have a lot of support. But there's a lot of supposition in your post.
  20. I think you'll find it relates primarily to concerns about giving away sensitive information, such as player injuries. It will also be linked to integrity concerns. Remember when Nick Maxwell told a family member that he would be playing in the forward line? That family member, or perhaps a friend of that family member, then placed a bet on Maxwell to be the first goal scorer of the match. While there's a big difference between specific information being disclosed and a general comment on how a player is finding the jump between grades, it is much easier for the club to issue a single instruction not to share any information rather than explaining to players what's allowed to be discussed and what isn't.
  21. Actually, I think his biggest weakness is his lack of a "right foot". I'm pleased to see from recent training reports that there seems to be an effort to improve kicking for all players on their "wrong" side.
  22. Help me out here, Stretch. I've already wasted too much time trying to work out who's who. These words are said by Marc Anthony about Brutus, one of Julius Caesar's assassins. Are you saying Hutchy is Brutus...because that would make James Brayshaw Julius Caesar. And it would also make Hutchy noble. That doesn't seem right.
  23. His schtick comes straight from 1984. Not the book - the year.
  24. New Category B Japanese rookie. Although I might be wrong.
