Harsh No doubt with Jesse not being the required target the team balance has changed and we’ve become more threatening probably because we’re less predictable. Jesse had been going up the ground more to become a more versatile player prior to his injury and when you consider his better application to chasing and tackling this year, the signs are there that he will be a real contributor next year. Long Live Jesse !

Having been in Geelong these past two days I’ve had the benefit of exposure to the Geelong Advertiser and its reporting of community affairs. The one particular story (among many worthy entrants) that caught my eye was about the local lad who required the paper to publish a formal correction after he was caught unlicensed and doing wheelies with an unfortunate rabbit tied to his rear bumper. Anyways, the Advertiser reported (incorrectly) that he had been arrested on the spot and charged and he required a retraction - namely that he had merely been charged and not arrested (facts not in dispute) Advertiser’s mistake publicly acknowledged. Anyways, I recommend this journal as an indicator of where the current state of society sits - it never ever disappoints. But back to the matter in hand - with its back page lead of how Gazza was gunna show them and with so many fulsome articles on how Melbourne would be overawed what with their almost total lack of finals experience and with the astonishing talent of Dangerfield, Tommy Boy, Selwood etc it would appear that the possibility of Melbourne winning the game was almost unthinkable. What a thrill to see that pressure and energy from a great group playing for each other and the team - beats the individualists and having watched Nathan Jones through the dark years as our only quality player at times, it’s been a joy to see his faithful service to our club return a dividend in his second final appearance. Thanks so much Nate -

Son camping on Fraser Island (laptop but no tv) asks if there’s a website to log into? 7 whatever is showing rugby -
Please excuse me stating that is a bone ignorant incorrect statement If that’s what your expert witness is going to say find a new defence strategy asap

Is that the one where he ran past a first game Melbourne player who never played again? If so pot kettle black

From the looks of this photo, the mouth guard has done its job and the lower jaw which is not covered by the mouth guard has been broken. Teeth involved in the fracture line (apparently) have been removed. It’s a shocking injury and I think that’s why some people (but not others) become slightly emotional

Sorry to say this is not your finest work. (a) At what point will bone be added to replace post extraction/traumatic bone loss so that implanted teeth can be placed? (I’m guessing Dec 2018) (b) Could there be spiral root cracks that might take years to manifest? See (a) (c) What on earth would happen if a similar blow - accidental or not - was delivered in the future to this sophisticated repair work?

Discount of 50% for being an interstate team with a large membership 4 weeks Totally agree with your initial assessment but. This kind of action needs to be eliminated from the game

So sad They played so well
-
Just remember Geelong starts with a five goal umpire advantage which consists of two dubious frees in front for the Cats and three not awarded to us. It’s a rabid atmosphere there
-
Sorry someone gots to say it Isn’t it amazing how a team full of players who don’t deserve a game because they are VFL standard are now completely in control Maybe they’ve all had what BC had at half time in that GF

Last week the Mutts were competitive until half time and then completely and utterly destroyed by Hawthorn in the second half put your money on Melb 40+ (?)

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 15
Crompton's the man replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
What a strange game we had it won inside 15 minutes in the first. so we relaxed and let them back into it. The umpires seemed to me initially to be on a mission not to allow the brand not to be embarrassed, but then unashamedly pursued a reversal of the natural order agenda as a brand-enhancing upset became a possibility. You do seriously have to question whether there is any accountability for the absurd decisions that seem to be being served up to us weekly because our club is regarded as polite and therefore accepting of whatever shisen is dealt out to us.This sadly just won’t happen to a power club and I suggest this more out of sorrow than anger. Was there any examination of that Melksham free last week? (I don’t know - I’m asking) I understand that the game is a difficult one to umpire but there have been so many examples of umpires bending to the will of crowd pressure (not saying that was today but) and making crucial mistakes that surely it’s time for this to be front and centre for public discussion I actually was disgusted today at the frees ignored, overlooked and not awarded to MFC but awarded each and every time to St Kilda Back to the first point, the killer instinct that we displayed against Adelaide seems to have evaporated into the ether -

Sorry BB we didn’t go there and he wasn’t giving free advice to the peasants - possibly would have if asked. He might also have said that we had had a bad day -

Going home on the tram after the game on Saturday, my wife and I started chatting with a guy about my age, with his brother. Friendly bloke, interested in the game and like us, a bit subdued about the day. I commented to him that the game reminded me of one in the Peter Daicos era, early nineties , one to which we had dragged all five of our children and with the same thing happening outplayed, outscored and the icing on the cake as we walked up the aisle afterwards was to have Collingwood supporters looking down on us yelling ‘it’s like having all your worst nightmares come true innit ?’ This chap in the tram said ‘ I remember that game I was the coach ‘ He offered me a selfie and a Kleenex Thanks John Northey - a real gentleman and a pleasure to talk to. Just wish we could have met under different circumstances ....... -
What we need is a third umpire review system for general run of play decisions

Hate it when Brisbane give up cheap goals late in the game -
Totally relaxed Nothing could go wrong
-
We need to start thinking outside the box the Rules of The Game Committee has already come up with numerous interesting changes to the game and it’s time they considered 19 players on the field to make the spectacle better
-
To all at Bomberblitz. It it really hurts to say this but your team is a hopeless rabble
-
Goodwin is coaching better since half time
