  1. He always used to be paired with Matthew Bate in despatches. e.g why don't we offer Dunn + Bate for [insert name of champion from another club]?

Dunny turned his career around, and for a few seasons was a really good player. But, as others have said, the game has now passed him by.

And, like others, I wish him the best of luck. Shame that Brisbane has lost interest in him.

  2. I understand his face will be painted orange so he can play the part of an oompa loompa in the next remake of Willy Wonka.

PS. The only reason he's retiring is that there was zero interest in him from other clubs.

It was too cold for the western suburbs boys today in Ballaraty. This would not have happened under Clarkson. For a while I was going to suggest that we chase Beveridge to coach us back to glory, well, he is a long lost Northey trooper but after this DISGRACEFUL EFFORT I think we're better sticking with the reffos from Essendon.

Anyway, no self respecting humanoid should ever go near Ballaratty anyway and now that the by-pass is active there's no need whatsoever.

All of this is Teddy Written in jest, and reminds me that the great man himself once delivered a Budgie to my house in Albion after I'd correctly guessed the correct landing time of a flight from Sydney. That Budgie is the last thing I've ever won.

    Kylie?

The biggest disgrace of the night was when they stopped showing highlights of all the games.

Dees won a game after the siren (gold coast) and they didnt even mention it.

And yet it took 15 hours to do 15 rounds

    Point of order.

Demons were actually ahead when the siren went in that match. GC player had a shot after the siren, but missed.

  5. He was "lucky" to play 60 games. Good on him.

Alistair "Big Jack" Nicholson played over 100!! And was on the list for 11 years!!!!

Making his debut in 1997 in the number 8 guernsey, the large figure of the man known as "Big Jack" was a strong presence in defence for the Demons. Nicholson, a specialist key position defender, was most suited to full-back and was much maligned during his career, described by critics as "old, slow and useless" and "unfashionable".[1] However, Nicholson was shown a lot of faith by coach Neale Daniher, and was signed on until the end of the 2007 season.

Because we played even more ordinary, and at their place.

    Cheers BB.

Mauriesy, with all due respect, pointing to one match/result in isolation is hardly statistically significant. Applying the same logic, MFC is a top 4 side on the evidence of beating GWS!!

The effort against Geelong was deplorable. The Melbourne side was totally cooked by the last round. And played accordingly.

  7. I went to a ladyboy show in Thailand a couple of years ago. (With my then girlfriend.)

It wasn't at all like a strip show. Pretty much just miming and dancing. I'd imagine the Melbourne show would be fairly similar. I can't imagine it attracting much of an audience here. It's pretty much just a tourist thing to do while overseas.

  8. I have followed the Demons since 1968. 48 years. No premierships. And TBH, none likely in the next few years.

    MFC member for years.

AFL set up a brand new club. Concessions + concessions. GWS may well win the flag this year. In their fifth freakin year!! Or if not this year, within the next 2.

Long suffering and loyal supporters of Melbourne, Footscray + St Kilda haven't seen a flag for 60 years +. (Or, depending on age, not at all.)

A manufactured team is likely to win one within 5 - 7 years of its inception/creation. Something about all this doesn't seem quite right.

MCC. Those put down at birth get in as junior members at age 17, restricted members at age 18 and full members at age 30. This has been the same for many years. Cricket is fairly irrelevant as there aren't many matches at MCG these days that anyone is interested in except Boxing Day Test. Junior and Restricted get in to all AFL games except Grand Final for no extra cost over their yearly subscription.

It's got worse than that. My son (born 1993) was offered restricted membership at age 15 or 16.

My thirdborn (born 1998) was just offered that wanky Provisional Membership recently, at age 18. She won't be offered restricted membership until she's 20, or more likely 21. The wait for full membership after restricted membership will be (another) 20 years.

Back in the day, I was on waiting list for about 9 years before becoming a restricted member, and about another 10 or so years for full membership.
