  1. Windsor as sub does not surprise me. He is my 2nd favourite current player but his move to defence has shown his defensive limitations. I hope he burns it up when he comes on. I am surprised by Kolt being selected on form, but the coaching and footy department love him and are backing him in.
  2. I can't say I feel confident but I do feel eager. If we put our best from season '25 against Pies best season '25, they win by 10-20 points. So we must deny them their best game, and we must kick straight. Big games from Sparrow and Bowey will help negate their best. Their only forward in genuine form is Elliot, most of their other goals coming from midfielders. Let' go boys.
  3. They often travel to these suburbs in daylight hours to do recon for their "extra-curricular nocturnal activities". Also, some of their dentists live there.
  4. I come from a long line of Dees supporters, it runs deep and wide in my blood. Our hatred of all things black and white come from generations of loathing, but in particular the 58 grand final. My dear Mum's heart almost gave out when we recruited a Weideman!! I was born just after this 64 GF game and it was part of the family's story telling. I will enjoy finding a quiet spot tonight and watch the entire game through. Interesting insights into skills etc... Footy really was tough and hard, get the ball and move it towards your goal immediately. No fuss, no other real game plan except for go wide when defending. Tackling these days is so far advanced. When I got to open age footy, the old reserves players who were 35-40 yo were still doing drop kicks and I was wearing the old nail in stops with hard toe boot which came up over the ankle. Dixon, Barassi, Hassa-Mann, Tuddenham - all these blokes could transfer their game into this era and still excel. Thanks for sharing - always great to go down memory lane.
  5. I watched the Casey v Pies VFL game last night, and have been watching the North v Eagles game since quarter time. Very similar game styles, similar pressure, similar (poor) skills. Absolute snooze fest. So much of our great game has devolved into a defensive network to strangle opposition, followed by fast break turnover, and finished off by exhausted players who can't kick due to exhaustion. I loathe the Hawks and Pies but their kicking skills (and the Crows) make them at the least very watchable.
  6. Incredible goal to Billings in the rain. Set shot n the boundary from 45 metres out.
  7. Total brain fade as Casey defenders all stand back to watch the ball land an easy goal to the Pies.
  8. Great passage of handball transition by Casey sees a goal. The last kick in the chain would only have gone 10 metres, but young Ireland gets his first.
  9. The game is a bit of a slog, fairly physical, but players forward of centre need to settle. Pies half backs doing OK but everywhere else I feel we are killing them. I feel for Laurie, looks a skill level above everyone else o the ground. Actually, many of our ground ball players look really good.
  10. May Gawn Turner McVee Petracca Chandler
  11. Yep, it is now a case of we, the supporters, not trusting the Dees to win. I go to games or turn on the TV and I know that players are going to repeatedly stuff up great transition play by poor skills in kicking for goal. I hate to admit this, but I just don't trust us to win games. I know we will be competitive in most games, but our kicking cannot be trusted. And I am really sick of it.
  12. We are giving them possession by atrocious decision making when kicking inside F50, or just poor skills. I am so enraged I keep getting up walking away from the TV for 2 minutes, ranting to myself only to return to the TV because I can't &*%$ing help myself. Can't we just play the game well?
  13. Too many dumb decisions, too many missed goals, too often. Agonising to watch our defence do so much right, only to have our forward play be so poor. Sparrow's kick just then - case in point.
  14. The Saints are getting their goals from quick transition, or a "joe-the-goose" over the back. Small structural changes from the Dees in the 2nd half should clog this up. Lindsay onto Butler and Windsor onto the wing. May and Lever getting better as the game continues, Turner is in our best 3 or 4 players, Bowey and Rivers to lift. AJ 3 weeks.
  15. We are outplaying them now, followed by stupid mistakes and continually allowing ourselves to be outnumbered over the back. We need run and carry. And accuracy.
  16. How many misses from inside 30m, and how many posters can we do in a single game? Grrrrr
  17. If I could have written a negative look ahead at this game I would have noted 3 things: 1) Inaccuracy in front of goal, 2) Saints getting over the back for easy goals 3) Getting outmarked Frustrating.
  18. My brother-in-law is a mad Tiges supporter, and I have been telling him all year the Tiges will rise quickly. Yze's game plan is quick, and within that game plan the players' pressure is strong and some of their young talent is top notch. They won't win too many this year because their young players will get physically monstered and will also struggle to run out 4 quarters. Bu they are good to watch for the most part.
  19. If you want a reason why LJ is such a highly rate player, watch his game today vs Gold Coast. In the air, on the ground, 2nd efforts, effective ruck work, aerobic capacity. Epic game.
  20. Freo's defence and 2nd efforts in the wet have been really good. They are getting an extra player to most contests.
  21. Very difficult to watch Pies v Hawks when both are so unlikeable. Both play a game style that is good to watch but they both have so many players who just give me the "jimmy brits".
  22. As much as I hate to say it, this is impressive from the Bummers. Half their 22 have less than 20 games or are VFL players at best, but their pressure is challenging the Hollywood Bears. And all the Bears front runners - Lohman, Rayner, etc... - are being shown up.
  23. Looking very likely 5 minutes in.
  24. I genuinely feel sorry for Laura Kane. The old saying 'leaders rise to the level of their incompetence' is again proving itself true. She was good in her last role, so they sling her into a position with more demands and greater responsibilities to find she is out of her depth. She should not have been put in this position by people above her who know her skill set, but maybe they had an inflated idea of her ability? Sport at an elite level has a spiritual quality about it. Supporters like us engage at more levels than mere support. We are invested. Part of our identity is attached to club history and colours. We gloat when we win, get grumpy and fatalist when we lose. The AFL board and their appointed chief executive Dillon have little understanding of, and less interest in, the soul of our game and will continue to make decisions based on numbers - revenue and supporter numbers.
  25. Farmer well out in front of this list. But Kozzie is rapidly catching him. I'm glad Whelan and Jetta get the love they deserve. Being defenders their skill and talent often gets rated lower for some reason. Sean Charles could have been anything. He had patches of games where he looked disinterested and detached, but when he came to play it was breathtaking. Steven May is the best fullback I have seen at the Dees and deserves his high position on this list.
