  1. I am not the hugest fan of watching AFLW, but without doubt, Daisy is one of the best things to happen to the MFC in a long time. I actually believe that she is up there with Paul Roos, Simon Goodwin and Peter Jackson as being a significantly influential, club-changing, and culture shifting person. Intelligent, dedicated, articulate, and very very hungry for a flag.

As for her coaching future, if the idea of Nev Jetta in a Collingwood jumper was enough to make me puke, Daisy in Geelong colours invokes the kind of rage I usually leave only for inarticulate public speakers, and people who refuse to use their indicators before they turn.

  2. There is more to Salem's role at half back, than merely being a great kick. He is a whole lot tougher and stronger when tackling or body-to-body than most people realise (Hunt is the same). As well as initiating breath-taking 45 degree angle kicks or delivering into the corridor, he stops a lot of plays.

He goes straight back to his half back role after a 2/3 or 3/4 game at Casey first. Rivers moves out for him.

  3. Swans v Lions is like watching 36 men wrestling in a paddock. It is hardly even football. I like pressure games but this is more like Rugby League with tackle after tackle after tackle. No spectacle at all, and some of the worst field kicking you will see.

So tired of handball (throw) over the head, and so tired of poor goal kicking.

  4. Watching 2 teams having a red hot go, both butchering the ball at every opportunity, both equally clumsy, sloppy and error-riddled, for the Dees to do things 5% cleaner and get the win. So glad we bat deep int our list because that was very close to a loss tonight.

A lot of rusty players, and by the end of the game, tired.

But we won, are still on top, and so far can take on every challenge.

  5. We continue to absorb the very best other teams have, and yet remain in front. The Hawks are playing really well, are well coached, and are giving us trouble both in the air and on the ground. Some of handballing in the backline by our boys has been sloppy, wrong option, and directed at a stationary team mate. Even Bowey has made some kicking errors, missing targets by a long way.

Clean up silly little errors and we win well.

  6. It is always a very pleasing thing to see the Cats beaten at home. Seeing I am not allowed to type "[censored]", I will translate immature felines that are weak, feeble, not fully grown, soft and cuddly".

    Very, very well played Freo.

  7. Switching between the 2 games. I don't know what rocket Leon Cameron put up his players, but they are destroying the Crows. The midfield is playing with the opposition. and the forwards look like they are in the middle of a training drill.

  8. Freo look so similar to us in defence, almost a mirror image. After 20 mins of defensive wrestling, Freo kick 2 and the [censored] looking down the barrel. Seeing Cameron having to wander into defence is such a huge win to Freo. Lucky turnover turns into [censored] goal. Tight game, but in Freo's court I reckon.

  9. Probably even at half time, Dees pull away in the third. I reckon some of our footy could look clumsy and disconnected, and the pressure inside forward 50 will be interesting. ANB & Kozzie out changes our pressure considerably, and neither TMac or Melksham are known for being pressure players.

Stoked to see Bedford getting a full game.

Our midfield should tear the Hawks apart, however their wings might actually be able to match ours, which is rare. I really like young Newcombe - I would love to see him and Viney go head to head!

These new Hawks play the aerial game really well so I can't see Weid, TMac or BBB having a day out. Not sure they can handle Jackson and Fritsch.

  10. WCE - State of the Union address:

    • Tim Kelly trade will cost them for the next 3 years. Absolute bust of a trade.
    • They have a really, really good coach whose calm demeanour hides his fierce competitiveness. He may even get brutal with selection for the rest of this year. At some stage even this year, a certain group of young players will commit to his gameplan and the tide will turn.
    • There appears to be a deep set resignation among the older leaders that this list and this year are done. Some of their efforts demand being dropped to the WAFL. Hurn, Kennedy and McGovern stand out as providing genuine effort and leadership but the rest are putrid.
    • Keep Kennedy for 1 more year to build a new forward line around.
    • Their worship of everything NicNat continues to hold back young developing ruckmen .
    • They will come for Jackson and I reckon he will be very tempted.
  11. Shiel has been average at times, but he is not the reason the Bombers are losing. They only have 2 metre Peter - and he is working hard - but they have a poor half forward line, and look like the Dees circa 2015 kicking inside 50. Their defence is brittle, and the entire squad reacts too slowly on transition.

WCE v Tiges tonight might be a better game than many think - they are both struggling so it might at least be a good contest. Nah, can't keep up the facade - tonight will be rubbish but I will watch it because it is Friday night and the only other option is some of my family are watching Magic Mike. Makes WCE v Tiges look very appealing.

  12. Two sides of the coin here.

With ball in hand we are smarter, fitter and more experienced to take what time we have to make a decision. We also have some great natural decision makers.

However, the amount of times Trac, Clarry, Spargo, TMac, ANB and probably others, try to get around the first tackle, only to get pinged for holding/dropping the ball is really frustrating. We seem to do this for one period in each game and get scored against, usually in the 2nd quarter.
