Freo: Atrocious tall forwards and forward-entry system. Pearce lacks captain/leadership influence Bottom 6 bog ordinary

Bronx cheers. His hands have half held about 10 marks tonight, and one finally stuck. If he ever gets to the stage where he marks most of what he gets to, he will be an unstoppable player. Until then, he remains in the 'potential' category with patches of brilliance.

13 scoring shots to 4. An absolute thrashing in everything except the scoring. Freo look either 9/10 or 2/10 with nothing in between. Make that 14 scoring shots.

Kane Cornes
At last a journalist who can read, spell, think, critique, analyse, and write clearly, while remembering his place in the landscape. Like many, I watch little AFL media. Most of it is simply insufferable. I turn Kayo on 10 minutes before the game starts to avoid the torrent of glitz, glamour, ill-informed opinion, and stupidity. I occasionally try to watch "The Round So Far" or "Access All Areas" but I turn it off 3 minutes in. Kane Cornes is an intelligent, well-presented ex-player but has become the epitome of a social media shock jock, like the protest leader with the megaphone yelling from the back, while the real protestors are confronted by police.

Collingwood forward Ash Johnson
Looks like a very natural footballer, in my opinion the most important characteristic when recruiting. His basic skill set is very, very good and he can impact a game at critical moments. Unsure if the Dees will pursue him and it doesn't bother me if they don't. JVR looks a great prospect, and Jefferson is impressing at VFL level.

Kane Cornes
I am not a fan of booing individual, but understand why it happens. JHF has done exactly the same thing Buckley did to Brisbane, and he was booed for about 2 seasons straight. Fans don't like high draft picks giving 1 begrudging season o their draft club, only to not give their all and fling off to their preferred favourite at the earliest possibility. I like straight shooters like Lloyd (who I loathed as a player) but Kane Cornes likes the spotlight too much for my liking.

Horrendous flop from Cotchin. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

Watching this game late in the 4th quarter, you would have to think the Suns have a fitness issue in the midfield.

10 years on: From Melbourne’s darkest days to dynasty building
Yep, I was there too. We were so, so poor.

Welcome to Demonland: James Jordon
I rate JJ higher than others, and simply believe our 22 is better with him in it. Although I also rate Sparrow who probably has more of an upside than JJ, at the moment I would drop Sparrow before Jordon. JJ gives me a strong Brett Lovett vibe - looks like a plodder, is going faster than expected, while remaining steady, unflustered and focused. I see him as a 200 game player, and hope that it is with the Dees.

I lived in Mt Barker SA for 3 years - great place. The Adelaide Hills is a tourism magnet with heaps to do and see. I am glad they get 1 game, but I cannot for the life of me think why they chose that location for an AFL match. If it is wet (and it is highly possible it will be), Mt Barker can be as cold, grey and foggy as the Dandenongs.

Trent Rivers Re-Signs until 2027
Reads the game, run-and-carry type player, courageous, with a hint of leadership. Up until this year, I didn't like his long bomb ill-directed kicks (ala Brent Moloney or Clarry early in his career) but he is much more discerning with ball in hand now and is an absolute ripper. Our club is so different now. We recruit, trade, AND develop our players so well.

What they are saying at the Hangar
Bummers were irrelevant to me until year 2000. They won the grand final pumped on steroids (I will always maintain this, with their "weights program" and/or "physique development" looking impossible and dodgy) They bashed a group of brilliant young Dees players out of the game My despising of them went instantly to 11 on the dial, and has never abated. Leapfrogged Carlton and Collingwood. And then the jaw-dropping hubris during the drugs scandal headed by the most arrogant coach to ever grace our game - James Hird - moved my dial to 12. I love seeing them struggling. I would prefer them finish position 13-15 each year so they are never wooden spooners so can't get the best young players, and therefore remain mediocre and irrelevant.

Best Melbourne 22 Seen In Your Time
Because of this thread, I have been asking myself the same question. Oliver is the best player of the 6, followed closely by Flower (I hate relegating Robbie to no. 2 but Oliver is now the best Dees player I have seen). Alves and Wells are a cut above Langdon and Hunter. They were both very very accomplished players.
