  1. I find so much of what he does worrying. He is completely unhinged.

S-town was quite amazing i thought - it made me happy, sad, smile, cringe and angry at any given minute. John McLemore was the most complex person I think I have heard of.

Okay - I am late to arrive on the podcast scene but have now been listening to some great stuff over the last couple of months. A must listen is "serial" - especially the first one and from the same people "S-town". The other podcast which i have been enjoying is "those conspiracy guys" - this podcast does not reveal too much new stuff but it is 3 Irish dudes talking a bit of fact and whole lot of really amusing nonsense. I only have to hear an Irish accent and i get the giggles.

For locals - at Memo Music Hall, they have a night, once a month hosted by Brian Nankervis where people bring in their favourite vinyl that has some story attached to it. Brian walks around prior to commencement of the show and talks to the audience and picks the best people to bring up - 3-4 people. He also has a couple of guests come in and they have a chat and talk about their favourite influences and play a couple of songs acoustically . The night I went they had Steve Kilby in who i love and is as quirky as all get up and he didn't disappoint. The next one is on this Wednesday but i cant make it.
  7. I am enjoying it but boy is it dark and heavy...
  8. My Dad had cancer and the doctors gave him 1 year to live. They were totally wrong - he lasted a year and half.
  9. Whilst it hasn't happened yet (to my recollection) - if he walks into the draft it is not a lock that we will get him. The likes of Collingwood and Bulldogs will get first crack at him. No-one needs to trade for him - the clubs lower than us just have to convince him that their club is a good fit and they can meet his financial demands.

Went to old school Elton John last night ( some artists I can' t move on from) - First time i saw him was 1971 at South Melbourne footy ground - he dressed up like a chicken. His voice is passed its prime - he doesn't hit the high notes anymore. Boy oh boy does he still give good concert - he went a tick over two hours - played a couple from his new album and then went through his hits ( which some were missing as you cant fit everything in). He has slowed but is still the showman and gives everything. A really great gig.

Two of the biggest [censored] jockeys that the good lord ( if i was a believer) put breath into - however they made some great music.
  12. I didn't think that was the case. I thought that players contract's expired after the trade period ended so you had a chance to trade players who were coming out of contract but before the national/preseason draft.

Arya rocks my world. When Nev Jetta retires she would be the perfect replacement in the back pocket.
  14. me too. It was a Tuesday and it was raining.....
  15. As predicted, Donald Trump has redefined the new normal. We can't even get outraged enough about his continuing outrageous behaviour to be bothered posting. Meh - is just more of the same from Donald.

Queen Dani - please book your dragons in for some training with Aaron Davey. They have got to learn to zig and zag a bit and not go for the straight in approach.
  19. You see..this is where you really do become unstuck, you overreach and then show how "rusted on" you are. So ..I make post of an article on which i did read the executive summary. - but I never said I read all of it. My only comment was that I found it interesting. You said you didn't have the energy to read and dissect it it but go on in your next post to say to say it is an "Alarmist article". So for all your intelligence and open minded approach to this issue I'll pose a simple question. If you admit that you didn't read it how do you know it is alarmist ? You want my argument ? Here is my argument - people way smarter than me and probably you, with lots of fancy degrees in the specific area of climate have written a report to be handed to the highest power in the USA. It makes predictions ( that are rated ) and makes suggestions. This is another report that points to in a direction on the climate change debate that i find truly scary. Am a 100% certain that they are right ? Nope. But I on the balance of probabilities I think they are. There you go. I think there is extreme commentary on both sides of the debate but my main problem discussing this with you is your mind is made up as evidenced. I do read this thread but rarely post anymore for this exact reason.
  20. On that, we are in agreement.....
  21. Ha ! hilarious. You have constantly called out climate scientists for duplicitous and overstated prediction and then you post this. So in this little article you linked - you state that the CSIRO was warning by 2020 we may no longer have snow. Please point me to the part in the article that states that ? I read the article and the closest I could come to your statement is CSIRO said that in 2003 that by 2020 resorts could lose 25% of their snow. Adjusting figures to suit are we ?
  22. makes interesting reading https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/08/07/climate/document-Draft-of-the-Climate-Science-Special-Report.html
  23. What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
  24. meet him briefly twice - top bloke. The first time was watching my daughters basketball game ( open age competition but low level) - sitting on the bench we were commenting that the ref looked exactly like Ben Brown (or sideshow Bob) but it couldn't be - why would he waste Sunday night ref'ing really poor standard basketball. A girl was sitting at the end of the bench confirmed it was him ( it was his girlfriend). I asked why he did it - she said he loved basketball and he found it relaxing ref'ing the lower levels.
