  1. Can i ask the question ? is this being organised ? Are we being put into leagues ? Last year was just a mad scramble to get into leagues. total score 43566 - av 1815 (i blame substance abuse) Pleae put me in the Brent Grgic League - promised plenty delivered zip
  2. I have mentioned this in the Voldemort thread. Whilst I understand we are brought up on a game that demands player loyalty - it is not the same game it was 20 years ago. With free agency here there will be more players poached mid season and we still have one more year of GWS signings I advocate a move to the NRL system of players announcing they are moving to another club when they have signed. I believe that some coaches at clubs unable to make the finals may not play the departing individual but I dont think that Collingwood wouldnt play Pendlebury if he announced he was going to GWS and a possible premiership was on the line. This also alleviates this nonsense of players having to lie about what they are doing and allows us all to get on and play football. If a football in a team not paticipating in the finals feels he wants to "preserve his body" for the new team then he will quickly end up in the 2nds. It does fly in the face of what we have grown up with but is the sport not professional enough now that we can endure this change ?
  3. My insides still simmer as he chose a completely different path to Ablett. Ablett gave and said zip zero nil nadda through the year. Scully to my mind answered every question put him at his press conference. He looked us in the eye and answered about no contact being made or of a signing taken place. He answered how he could say no to big money and he stated that he wants to be a one club player and thats what he anticipated happening. As far as I am concerned that once those statements were made - hen there were no backing away from them. This year, I anticpate that both Deledio and Goddard ( and whoever else is in the gun) will have learned from the Scully departure and will give nothing to the media about their intentions ( unless it is to say they have re-signed with their clubs) They will stay or they will go but I dont think we will see another March press conference from a GWS target ( or a free agency target) with pronouncements made of the Scully ilk. Time for the AFL and the clubs to grow up and move to the NRL system of players being 100% professional and let players speak up when they have signed with another club. It may take a few years of coaches still saying I wont play a player who is leaving but I suspect quite quickly a club will play a leaving player because it may mean the difference between winning or not winning a premiership ( aka Pendlebury)
  4. truly ordinary footballer was Graham and in celebration of my own unremarkable feats on the footy field I celebrate him as my favourite demon
  5. And those who trot out the above refuse to acknowledge that is it not an exact science so all recruiters can do is pick the player that all data points to him being the best pick and Cook was the All Australian CHF so all data pointed to him being the better pick ( not because Darling wasnt a choir boy). Whilst recruiters may punt on later picks there is a fair reliance on data such as all Australian selections and draft camp testing. So I guess what you are saying is recruiters are paid to ignore what is in front of them and "punt" on selections
  6. Not trying to be pedantic but I saw Robbie Flowers career from beginning to end and he played in some horrible sides and he never ever struggled.
  7. I do not what is "real" and what isnt. I dont know who did what and who didnt. What I do believe is that Jimmy was the "catalyst" for change part one and Garry Lyon to a certain extent was "catalyst" for change part two ( the disclaimer is that there had to be change after the 186 point loss anyway) and I thank them both. ( As an aside - I think our Jimmy has been brilliant beyond belief. I believe he can make a contribution as president by just being Jimmy and I would think ( hope) that the board and management are filling in the gaps that he obviously cant perform because of his health - even if his position is purely ceremonial if he is willing to continue in the role then i say hooray)
  8. Gotta love retrospectivity - the one's that got it most wrong is Gold Coast, Richmond and Brisbane - based on today and now only Swallow, Gaff and Heppell had a better or equal season so he should have gone number 4 in the draft. ( I also should have warned Jesus about those pesky Romans)
  9. Im still in. Total score - 43566 ( but in my defense, I'm a moron)
  10. Im in. Played for the first time last year and it took my 5 rounds to figure i was a giant doofus ( many on here realised that way quicker) and i made it to the finals of one league and 9th in the other.
  11. With all the angst and countless posts over Voldemort leaving for the Giants ( and yes I have been a contributor) - I am left to ponder, had Demonland been around in 1964, what the responses would been ( and how many posts !) to the news that RDB was off to Carlton
  12. McLean is a star on the track at Carlton but cant keep from getting injured every time he hits the field proper
  13. agreed - there has been so much of " i have no idea what to believe anymore" that I now tend to take everything with a very tiny grain of salt.
  14. yes..but to what end. If it is hocum and his knee is crock it will show in his performance if he gets to perform at all.
  15. i say bugger successful clubs - what the hell would they know. Best person for the gig irrespective of position
  16. Edited by Demonland - unnecessary language I think there is enough irregularities out in the open to indeed form the strongest of views that Tom has been less than honest. The way it went down in the last days is laughable at best and I dont think many are now trying to defend the view that he signed up the day he announced. As to when it when it went down lots of varying opinions.
  17. now THAT's interesting....
  18. pretty much says it all
  19. I dont believe much of what young Tom says. I think he has been very sparse with the truth and has been in my opinion thoroughly discredited but I still wont go and parade opinion as proven fact. You use the word "proved" - Look up the word proof and then please provide some. If the above is what you believe then fine ( and it well may be the case) but without proof it is opinion.
  20. You are very loose with the word "proof"
  21. Maxwell ? Harley ? Glass ?
  22. Jamar just doesnt seem to me Captain material - no valid reasoning...just leaves me hollow on that front..A bit like I never wanted to go Fiji and had no explanation as to why...I did go there and now i know
  23. Michael Young as captain of Carlton ( and ewww he came to the MFC)
  24. Honest call - love Jones dearly but honest call.
  25. Would not be surprised to see JT get the nod. Is he too young ? Probably. From all reports he has shown leadership qualities from day one and looking at him onfield, he never drops the head, always chases and does the team things. It would be a brave move and quite un-Melbourne like. If we were to be brave my feeling is that JT would not be the wrong choice to be brave about. If Grimes wasnt so fragile ( to date) he would have been a monty.
