  1. Jetta body positioning is sublime. Whether a high ball or ground ball he always has better positioning than his opponent
  2. I'm a Tyson fan and the good news is, he gets to good positions and attracts the ball but yes, prolific but wasteful.
  3. Oscar- what is with that. Thought he was quite steady and although no damage done, what is with spoiling into the most dangerous spot possible ?
  4. Devastated at Chester Bennington's death at age 41 ( apparently suicide). I am a huge Linkin Park fan - especially their early work - nothing quite matches up to Hybrid Theory. RIP Chester
  5. The actual date is August 1 - it will be interesting to see if it is policed and if there is a drop off in patronage. I, for one, will be happy that i can eat El Fresco without having smoke wafting over me. It is not the second hand smoke health problems that worry me ( something's gotta kill you). I don't like eating wand having to smell the smoke.
  6. I play the downtrodden.
  7. alas, both.....
  8. I will get celebratory Offty McGoffty from Mrs Bean. (if we lose I get sympathy Offty McGoffty from Mrs Bean - either way I don't really lose). Too much information ?
  9. I always thought everyone found me hysterically funny. I have subsequently found that I am in the minority.
  10. Your reputation precedes you......
  11. go sit in the naughty corner and think about what you said. Have you lost your mind. I am not an avid TV watcher but there are two shows I don't miss - GOT and Last week tonight.
  12. Said it before and I'll say it again. I think. in isolation, every one of our suspensions has just about been right, including Bernie's. However when you then stack them up against other penalties ( or non penalties) on reported players from other clubs you scratch your head and say WTF????
  13. I read the article and thought the opposite. I thought Jones showed great leadership. To me leadership is supporting the team but in equal measure - not shying away from the obvious and show displeasure when necessary. But hey..what would i know. I just drive a bus.
  14. you are dead to me, Tim.
  15. Left for dead - nekk minut - he pops up in a religious cult chopping wood and then found by Beric Dondarrion. Glad he is still in the series - my second favourite for the amusing quip behind Tyrion.
  16. In the general forum, (besides the odd quip that amuses no one but myself) I now only post in the music thread - that's it. I gave up posting as there is far too much "rusted on" views.
  17. May his reign be "prolific yet wasteful"
  18. His last play - The huge spoil that sent him to the ground made me groan as he didn't get enough on the ball but his tenacity to immediately jump up and get back in the contest with Simpson and then beat him was insanely good.
  19. I have been critical of TMac on his few decision making, kicking errors, brain fades - as a backman. I have maintained on balance he is a very good defender but those errors was what was holding him back going to that next level. As a forward it plays to his strong suite. He has become a lead and mark forward and can take a pack mark. Whilst his kicking on the run may be average, his set shots at goal have been very good. I like him as the ultimate swingman - can go to both ends of the ground. I do have preference for him as a forward with Omac and Frost as the backs.
  20. To me it is simple - the rules are the rules and the club or leadership group handle it when there are transgressions. I would think there are circumstances and back stories to any indiscretion that we may not be aware of but as long as it is handled I don't have a problem. I do have a problem to those who say - "whats wrong with the boys having a drink or two - they are normal kids". This doesn't cut it for me. They are professional athletes whose salaries are to an large extent subsidised by us, the members. We pay for the show. If you want to go outside the team rules because they are too rigid then that's fine - go and play park footy with your mates where team rules don't apply.
  21. It is always refreshing when a sportsman tells the truth. He was not castigated for telling the truth - he was castigated for what his truth is. Tomic ( like many "rock stars") know that their talent has put them in a position that has them very well paid for what they do. They sometimes forget where that money is coming from. It comes from us the public. People pay to see Tomic and his opponent perform and for him to act in the manner he does disrespects these people who have paid that money. If you don't really care then go play local tennis where people are forking over good money to see you play. It is the same with AFL footballers. When a football breaks team rules by drinking or turning up unfit to preseason and they are cut slack on here. I don't get that. Our memberships, our buying of team merchandise, our sponsorship, our viewership of TV meaning huge TV rights payments pays for these blokes to play. If a player cannot be professional then that's ok - go play park footy with your mates where you are not taking good coin from us. (rant over)
  22. I was thinking about this when Cloke took some time out. Yes - I understand that these guys have chosen a very well paid profession that includes them being in the public limelight. Their chosen profession is playing in front of a lot of very passionate ( and often irrational supporters and media who don't mind going for the jugular if it will "sell more papers". I do believe that some of the vitriol thrown at footballers is completely unwarranted and beyond the pale and am not surprised that it affects their mental health. Matt Jones in an articles said that he received tweets that talked about his butchering the ball and the happiness it would give one supporter if he never played again. That Jack Watts has stood up under what i consider the harshest barrage of criticism over the 5-10 years is a testament to his resilience and the support he obviously receives from those close to him.
  23. Agreed and that is why the MRP is a laughing stock. I agree that protecting the head is the bigger issue but it does not mean that penalty inconsistencies is not an issue as well.
  24. It does matter to me because whilst it may not matter in this instance, what if it was Jones, Oliver or Gawn and we were playing finals and it meant the difference between being available for a Grand Final or not ( I wish !!!). You call out major inconsistencies where you see them as there will be times when these inconsistencies do matter.
