As predicted, Donald Trump has redefined the new normal. We can't even get outraged enough about his continuing outrageous behaviour to be bothered posting. Meh - is just more of the same from Donald.

And how about the party heading north of the wall - sort of a medieval dirty dozen.... ( also I want a dragon for Christmas)

or is he the new Jayden Hunt who couldn't get on the ground for two seasons ? (so many calling for his delisting) The problem is none of us know.... ( the difference is that I think we can imagine VDB's best where none of us really had an inkling that JH would be quite as good as he is. I laugh now when I think back to some posters who questioned JH's speed when he had his first few games at Casey)

seriously - rickon - serpentine, serpentine !!!!!

Queen Dani - please book your dragons in for some training with Aaron Davey. They have got to learn to zig and zag a bit and not go for the straight in approach.

You see..this is where you really do become unstuck, you overreach and then show how "rusted on" you are. So ..I make post of an article on which i did read the executive summary. - but I never said I read all of it. My only comment was that I found it interesting. You said you didn't have the energy to read and dissect it it but go on in your next post to say to say it is an "Alarmist article". So for all your intelligence and open minded approach to this issue I'll pose a simple question. If you admit that you didn't read it how do you know it is alarmist ? You want my argument ? Here is my argument - people way smarter than me and probably you, with lots of fancy degrees in the specific area of climate have written a report to be handed to the highest power in the USA. It makes predictions ( that are rated ) and makes suggestions. This is another report that points to in a direction on the climate change debate that i find truly scary. Am a 100% certain that they are right ? Nope. But I on the balance of probabilities I think they are. There you go. I think there is extreme commentary on both sides of the debate but my main problem discussing this with you is your mind is made up as evidenced. I do read this thread but rarely post anymore for this exact reason.

On that, we are in agreement.....

Ha ! hilarious. You have constantly called out climate scientists for duplicitous and overstated prediction and then you post this. So in this little article you linked - you state that the CSIRO was warning by 2020 we may no longer have snow. Please point me to the part in the article that states that ? I read the article and the closest I could come to your statement is CSIRO said that in 2003 that by 2020 resorts could lose 25% of their snow. Adjusting figures to suit are we ?

What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

I was in Eaton Mall last night and most areas were non smoking - Vanilla had big plastic screens up to allow a smoking area. I detest having people smoke near me whilst eating but I am not so sensitive to it to suggest that people that are two restaurants down from me will impact. But the test will come in the warmer months were the place is packed and the air is still. Simple for me - I want to be able to eat outside without smelling smoke. The idea of allowing it before a certain time is a nonsense - I eat breakfast in Eaton and a lot of the time am gasping from the ciggie fumes. Not sure what the answer is - besides a complete ban in eating precincts. I am sure that second hand smoke is bad for the health - but for me, I just find the smell repugnant.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
nutbean replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
meet him briefly twice - top bloke. The first time was watching my daughters basketball game ( open age competition but low level) - sitting on the bench we were commenting that the ref looked exactly like Ben Brown (or sideshow Bob) but it couldn't be - why would he waste Sunday night ref'ing really poor standard basketball. A girl was sitting at the end of the bench confirmed it was him ( it was his girlfriend). I asked why he did it - she said he loved basketball and he found it relaxing ref'ing the lower levels. -
Went to the gig last Saturday night. Just Jeff, his guitars and his gizmo's ! He was freakin' amazing. If there is a better guitarist in Australia I would like to know his name.

I love the hound.

Peter Foley spent big money getting the sound just right and the artists love him because he looks after them ( apparently most venues don't). I know he is actively out looking for a new venue but it is a real shame to me as there is something really special about the room - it just works.
-
Double devastated - Not only Chester from LP died this week, The Caravan Music Club is shutting its doors from 2018. It is highly successful, the sound is great and the room is great however it is in the hall out back of the Oakleigh RSL and the Caravan Club proprietor wants to invest money to make it better but they are not interested and he also wants to take over the running of the bar ( which is diabolically slow and inefficient) - whilst giving the RSL the profits from the bar, Again they weren't interested. I respect returned servicemen but geez the board of this RSL are crusty old farts.

me too. I got a "like" on it.

I think he is being found out by us as well. We are finding out that he is as hard at the man and ball as player on our list (well - maybe Viney aside). We are finding out that he is an exceptional reader of the play - knowing when to man up and when to peel off. We are finding out that he knows when to play on (which is often) and when to hold up. We are finding out that he can hit a target 40m-50m down the field and is a very good decision maker.

I'm with reek - an alive coward rather than dead hero.....

Gotta say I was a little underwhelmed with the first episode.

I don't get this at all. You push and shove ( and the incident with Johnson was an open hand shove) and you want Rance suspended ? Or are you are saying that because Rance started by pushed Johnson over, Greene should be able to punch Rance in the chin ? How about players just don't punch ? Isn't that simpler ? Johnson had been awarded the free, with a shot on goal, which was appropriate. Greene got the free kick reversed and reported for punching Rance on the chin. And you want Rance dealt with ? hmmmm
-
All the incidents you point out about Rance are on the money. However the issue is not whether Rance deserves to cop a whack because he serially hands out the same to others but whether he was staging or not. I don't like the way he gives the sly ones either and the one to Watts in the back of the head was shameful.
-
I take the contrary view. Unless there is solid evidence that no contact is made, how can you judge how it impacts a person. I have been tapped when not really braced, prepared or expecting it and gone down from what was minimal impact. I don't believe Oliver intentionally went down from his chin tap and I don't think we can judge the reaction on someone who cops a whack no matter how incidental it looks. Rance copped a smack in the chops - why is the victim being blamed. The goose here is Toby Greene.

Said it before and will say it again, Tyson does turn it over by foot too much. However his other attributes more than compensate for this. He is strong in the contest and is at the bottom of every pack - he links well and is efficient by hand. His biggest asset is he is a ball magnet. He just attracts the ball. It was only three season ago when we were scratching our heads to find any midfielders ( other than Jones) who got plenty of the pill. Now when we can find more on-ballers that can find the ball as much as Tyson but dispose of it better then he will not be in the first 4 onballers picked (Viney, Jones and Oliver). Until that time I focus on the positives that he brings to the team. A question - do you think he is an asset to the team or a liability ? Does his good outweigh his bad ? If the answer is liability/bad - who would you replace him with ?

Not to say we are strict in our household but Mrs Bean does have a habit of asking questions in the middle of episodes. We have now made a rule - we give her a pen and paper and we address all written questions after the episode. Harsh but fair.
