As a young fella with Essendon supporting relos I remember being excited and happy for them when they won the flag in '84, was a huge party that night. Those same relos and essendon supporters in general then proceeded to rub their success in my face for the next 30yrs solidifying my hatred for the club. These days I work with a couple essendon supporters in their early 20s who don't remember being successful at all and I love to listen to the disappointment in their club. Showed me where their next generation of supporters are psychologically. Fair to say I bathe in their miserable tears.

Fork Essendon. Long may they wallow at the bottom of the ladder.

I saw an interview with Goodwin before the season and he was asked again about our culture. He replied with a steely eye something like our culture is 2nd to none and when the season starts we plan to "Show 'em what this footy club is about." Was wondering at the time if it was abit of false bravado especially after having our pants pulled down by the swans in Rd1. But here he is. Got all the guns on the ground, sitting at 4-1 and looking like they're on a mission.

It was still a good game. And I'll tip it'll be a good game next time too. Just reckon their little mids got tired of running into our fleet of bulls all night. They really could've used HF at stoppages. BOG tonight I hear.

I like the one in the 3rd qtr when Ben Brown gives a well timed Tom Hawkins type push in the back to take a mark and kick our 3rd goal in quick succession putting us back in the game.

The kid is just what we need. Lightning quick line breaker who can kick. A couple of people have questioned his defensive efforts. I've been impressed with what I've seen. He's relentless, must have a huge tank, be interesting to know his kms covered. There's a reason Goodwin's playing him and I'll tip the pressure he puts on defensively is a big one. Loves his defence does Goody.

Similar to the Daniher years? When we were watching Port win a flag while wondering what it'd be like. Which we wondered for another 17years.

I can relate. Pre-2021 was rough mentally. Been sketchy again the last coupe years but I'm feeing good again.

Half the problem is that there's 4 of them making decisions. Was listening to the radio the other day and there was some sketchy decision paid early. Commentators declared it'd be ok if they umpired the rest of the game the same way. Well that aint gonna happen when the umpire up the other end of the ground decides his "interpretation" of holding the ball is a 360deg spin instead of a 720 (which is what I saw a carton player allowed to do on the weekend against North.)

5points the diff at qtr time. Scores level at half time. 4pts the diff at 3qtr time. Any talk or reports of us stealing that game is ....

And deservedly so. The umpiring these days as a whole is a disgrace. Doesn't matter what game you're watching.
