Apologies if this has already been discussed at length, I haven't had a chance to read through this thread, but I just saw Rivers got a fine for a sling tackle. Am I the only one (apart from Tom McDonald) who thought Rozee threw himself on the deck trying to milk the free?
You are not alone. Thought Rivers tackle was basically around the waist. Rozee is a cunning customer. Along with the natural momentum felt he added to the result and eventual free kick awarded to him. Think Tommy Mac said a few words to him.

Hate to see a list like that shortly before the season starts. Suggests we are behind the eight ball before the commencement of proceedings after a five month layoff.
TBC is such a crumby term. How about some indication for supporters when these boys will or are likely to be available for selection.

Now without Brayshaw and Smith, Ben Brown and T Mac on semi retired list and so many injured . Getting a bit jumpy on our list preparedness for the season opening.

Quintessential Goodwin footballer.
Wish we had a couple more of the type, maybe a couple of real big bars teds up forward.

Tony Sullivan. 191 games in the number 4. 👏👏 His son Chris Sullivan was given the number 4 to follow in his fathers footsteps.
Also the number l believe worn by your good self Norm. Quite an important number in Melbourne terms.

Bit ridiculous rating trade week in isolation of the upcoming kids draft.

Initially we all got excited and were a chance for Reid, then Dursma, then Mc Cercher., then Sanders and now thanks to the AFL the 5’2 Watson and what next.
Hawthorn worked this [censored] out years ago.
Let those who want to play the untried draft game do so and they will pick off the ripe fruit.- 1

A safe decision but not one I’d have made unless the cost of moving him on or of picking anyone else half decent up was entirely prohibitive.
He plays a soft and shaky brand of football without any spirit, flair or joy.
Seems to be mates with Gawn and letting Max make list management decisions has consistently proven to be a disaster.
Current whipping boy by some, but not by me. Drafted 9 in his draft year, has generally been more than adequate when needed, is a good kick and a good big body match up.
Ok decision l reckon.

1. Get Matt Flynn in as a free agent.
2. Draft Duursma/McKercher and O'Sullivan as first round picks.
3. Get Blake Howes fit and firing for 2024. Can replace Hunter whose lack of kicking depth is a problem.
4. Use second round picks to poach a 195cm + pack busting key forward and/or a tall hard running mid that is an elite kick.
5. Examine Chocco's role as goal kicking coach. Abject failure this year.
6. Two new assistant coaches. Get on the phone to the likes of hated former players like Joel Selwood or Trent Cotchin.
7. Prune the dead wood if possible. Pay out contracts of BBB and TMac, free agents Jordon, Tomlinson and Harmes. Delist Dunstan and maybe Melksham.
8. Scour the VFL for the best mature players with upside.
Not a bad start.👏👏

Embrace it. Make their life like hell for the next 3 hrs. Make them wish they regret the decision.
M Bay 38 in MCC overwhelmingly Carlton.
Think there might be more Carlton supporters than Melbourne supporters.
Never experienced this before.
Stamp out visitors passes at the G😀

Talk is GC will put 10 on the table and get way overs when they on trade it. There is a fairly good chance of a highly rated player being there. Our 2023 1st rounder not so attractive.
We are still in with a chance for pick 4 but we may have to throw in our future 1st with some of our 2023 picks. We will also get picks for Grundy and anyone else who bails.
I think the AFL will have to restrict the discount to one player per draft per club.
We have or will have a good hand in a draft that goes deep. Why bet the bank?
Hope we don’t get sucked.

Rule Change (not sure how the AFL have managed to not have such a rule already considering the NRL’s position)
”If a player leaves the ground while moving toward another player the onus is on him to ensure he avoids any high contact.”
I wish the AFL would just be quiet and not try attempt to support/ justify the tribunal’s decision.
The AFL’s response has done nothing to earn the respect of the MFC or a decent number of the wider football community, including parents.
I agree a suspension of Maynard wouldn’t have achieved much but a suspension of Maynard and a couple of rule changes might have.

What a 4 hour circus for expected outcome.
Nice theatre AFL.
Had the chance but sadly didn’t convince anyone on head contact in AFL

Who's sadly out of form and regularly gets held to less than 10 possessions. If he could get 15-20 a game he'd play every game of the year. I was hoping he'd work his way back in and remain hopeful he can find his mojo in 24.
And neither do the other small forwards if we’re brutally honest and that’s part of our coward line malaise.

Wonderful team player. Tough ,focused and a Goodwin contested footy beast.

Tom Green pick 10 in that seriously good 2019 draft.

something for us all to look forward to especially if the 1948 replay was our first taste of footy.
We all look at things differently l suppose, but some people who were around at the time, suggested that the 1939/40/41 run may have been extended if not for the Second World War where we were well represented.
All in the eye of the beholder.

Not sure l agree on rest for anyone.
(Yes l know I’m a hard a..e)
There is a weeks rest after the last home and away game and we are still in the hunt for 2nd Spot.
Dont think I’d be leaving the door ajar to anyone to knock us off.

Watson does all the things right but in recent drafts both north and hawks have collected high pick mids. I can’t see Watson getting passed the hawks who still rely heavily on Breust. Watson a sneaky chance for rising star. Has all the flashy talents to get a nomination early and then kick 30+ for the year.
Probably right . We already have Pickett who is very high quality and can terrorise the opposition. Watson good player no doubt but do we have more pressing needs elsewhere. I kind of like the idea of Dursma on one flank and Petracca and Picket up there as well.
