CHANGES: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Congratulations a voice of reason has emerged from the wilderness. Easily missed amongst the sheer deluge of comment post ‘The Titanic’ striking an iceberg off Sydney Harbour. Accompanied by a crescendo of gnashing of teeth, hand wringing, wrist slashing and lemmings jumping off a cliff complete with a matching band. It’s not about messianic deliverance by inclusion of player ‘X’ or of player ‘Y’ returning from injury or protocols. Its a team game, the talent and determination are there in spades. As the man says KISS applies.

6 Max Gawn 5 Angus Brayshaw 4 Jack Viney 3 Clayton Oliver 2 Christian Salem 1 Bayley Fritsch Honourable mentions; Harrison Petty Adjudication Helter skelter. Opposition hyperbole watch; Tom Papley; shameless self promoting skite on steroids. Save it for the bathroom mirror son. Get a real job as a sideshow spruiker. Honestly. Broadcast; Channel 7 have an unsavory fetish for frequent throws to John Longmire in the coaches box. It’s supposedly a sport broadcast. Absurd. Best they could do of Simon was an out of focus boundary shot. Reflected the team performance. Overall Performance; Like Icarus we Demons have flown to close to the Sun. Only to find our wings clipped and the team fabric unwaxed. Need to pull out of this dive quickly or the plummet could be painful.

Forward craft in last quarter abysmal, repeatedly turning over ball ain’t going to win Jack.

Actually getting sympathetic to Toby Greene, Stevic and co need to earn respect not just be given it because AFL say so. Exhibit 1 Papley clearly shoved Hunt in the back wins unfair advantage, kicks goal and 'behaves' accordingly. Throw the rule book out. Give the people unbridled momentum and a spectacle at any cost. $$$$$$$$$$

Brown and Brown purveyors of fine ale. Trust the batch will be hatched during tonight’s match. Otherwise it will be down to Young (&) Jackson(‘s).

Reserves footy is back! Dan Turner a neat composed player, appears to know when to defend and when to attack .

With the exception of the Covid round against Hawks that’s quite a shake up. Almost a selection coup by recent MFC standards. May put a few others on notice too, perform or your spot is in jeopardy. Plus gives some of the young guys playing for Casey, some real incentive for promotion to the senior side.

Mark Of the Year Nominees: Spargo and Weideman
Both terrific ‘grabs’ but the subsequent unconverted attempts at scoring goals, left one with the glass half empty feel. Goes with the loss we had to have apparently.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
Happy to leave it to others to examine the intestines of this defeat and make predictions about the portents for the season's future. Viewing from here the most impressionable moment of this match, with the opposition running rampant in the 3rd quarter, was of young Jake Bowey home alone at centre-half-back. With the ball headed that way from another Freo forward foray. His opponent was that giant of a ruckman Darcy, who hovered nearby like some monster apparition from ghostbusters. It was not an ideal match up, but the expression on Jake's face was priceless. As if some sense of seismic shift was about to take place. It was a scary micro-moment, which fortunately passed with JB still intact.

Broadcast; La frénésie médiatique sur le point de se décharger. Overall comment; In retrospect ripe for the picking. Well done over by Freo. Quelques pistes de réflexion.

Demonland early birds or late night insomniacs? Caught the last rites of last evening’s SCG clash on AFL online. Back on home soil to get the big picture. Maintain the rage Demons let the winning run continue.

Goes with the territory? Would certainly not applaud that action borders on potential GBH. Aussie rules is a great game not to be confused with some craven caged ‘contest’.

6 Clayton Oliver 5 Christian Petracca 4 Tom Sparrow 3 Jake Lever 2 Steven May 1 Bayley Fritsch Honourable mentions; Max Gawn Luke Jackson Alex Neal-Bullen Trent Rivers Tom McDonald Kysaiah Pickett Adjudication; Couldn’t complain those who made the play got rewarded. TV broadcast; Jason Dunstall and Nick Riewoldt tend to make sense. Whoever was responsible for gratuitous comment about Ed Langdon tackle being ‘acceptable’ go to straight to dunce’s corner with the appropriate hat. Overall comment; Opponents provided a contest with plenty of old fashioned physicality. Demons challenged but too classy in the wash up.
