  1. I saw that info about the intra club match on the roos website - it helpfully included who was playing on each team (white and blue teams) and their numbers. Plus a bunch of other useful info. By the by, it really highlighted how helpful a proper home training base is. They had a practice match followed by the family day at Arden Street, which unlike us means all the infrastructure is there (eg kitchen, fridges to store bbq stuff etc etc) and things can be stored and accessed properly (eg merch, equipment, give away etc). Plus fans get to feel the club vibe - the roos admin is all there and when you walk in their pteniershop cups are in the public entry area.
  2. Well, I hope that's right GW or else I'll well and truly have egg on my face and 58er will have justified cause to lampoon me! Note: I just checked the AFL site and it's still listed as an 11am start.
  3. Update - I found it (note to dees fans - the starting time is wrong. Because of the predicted heat the game is starting at 10am. I know that because i read Demonland. Also note, there is nothing about the Casey practice match):
  4. Indeed. Particularly because the MFC website is useless as an information source. I just went to the MFC website app looking for info on the practice match, thinking the info would likely not include public transport info. Well, after looking for 5 minutes for info about the game I couldn't find ANYTHING. Nada, bubkis, nil. No doubt it's there somewhere, but I couldn't see it. And wasn't going to waste any more time looking. I wonder how many fans will miss the first half of the game given it's starting at 10am to 11am. @58er given you're so hot on only using the MFC website as the source of information about all thing MFC how about you find the info on the app, post a screen shot of it - and let us know how long it took you to find it.
  5. Good lord, the quality of trolling on this site has fallen off a cliff.
  6. Cranky, old mate, take the L and move on. You're losing all your hard earned cranky cred.
  7. One mistake a year - assuming you count the examples given as 'mistakes'. But as you suggest, the implication was the examples given were indisputably mistakes, which is just complete nonsense. It never ceases to amaze me how people make definitive statements about medical stuff when, one they almost never have any relevant qualifications and two, don't have access to the players medical history, rehabilitation plans or any of the relevant data. I mean, it's not unreasonable to have as a starting point that highly paid professional medical and high-performance teams with access to all the relevant info and data are likely to be making informed decisions about the management of players with injuries. Take Spargo - it seems to be accepted as fact that playing him in round one did more damage and was a factor in him being out for the season. Perhaps it was, perhaps it wasn't. The point is we are making guesses either way. Correlation doesn’t imply causation and all that. What we can say with certainty is the medical and high-performance team, based on the information and data available to them at the time (info not available to us) made what they thought was the right decision for Spargs at the time. An interesting parallel to the decision to play Spargs was the almost identical decision to play Tmac in round one just two weeks after ankle surgery. Played, and i don't think missed a game for the whole season?
  8. Sure. I'll give you some terrific games where he has kicked mutiple goals with few possessions. And, sure I'll give you that remarkable thing about his work as a forward is this preseason is only third AFL preseason (by way of contrast jvr has 4 under his belt) - and nly his FIRST where he has trained as a forward all preseason. But Wayne, what did Turner ever do for us?
  9. 11am start. Casey practice match at 2pm - which will be worth watching I reckon as there will be plenty of AFL listed players running around for casey who will want to impress, and push their case to be considered for senior selection.
  10. I've heard the prices to attend their games are going way up.
  11. Well, you've taken on the wrong person to play the pedantry game with. Pandemics are not by definition, world wide. From wiki: A pandemic (/pænˈdɛmɪk/ pan-DEM-ik) is an epidemic of an infectious disease that has a sudden increase in cases and spreads across a large region, for instance multiple continents OR world wide, affecting a substantial number of individuals. From the Oxford dictionary: a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease over a whole country OR the world at a particular time.
  12. I've posted this before, But it's worth posting again given we ate playing at Arden Street next weekend. A terrific flash back to footy in the late 70s (its a shor doco about the roos preparing for their 1979 season) the last third or so is the roos v blues at Arden Street.
  13. Indeed. And as omens go, not great - a month later a world wide pandemic hit our shores.
  14. Really? Asking for a friend.
  15. Unfortunately this forum is a microcosm of the broader community, albeit skewed male in terms of demographics. What we see out there, we see in here- positive and negative. And the sad reality is there are plenty of people who enjoy upsetting and winding up other people.
  16. Could describe Stev May as well.
  17. Do your mates often sweat profusely for 30 hours a week and share showers and change rooms with 43 other similarly sweaty men?
  18. Our biggest issue in a nutshell.
  19. Yes, as given in Victoria we are running out of companies who can build new houses we will have to rebuild it ourselves - so we can train it down again.
  20. That's how bad we were - there were mutiple tides to turn!
  21. 2018-2013? Luxury. Sheer luxury. Try 1975 to 1987. Now that's football wilderness.
  22. I thought about it, as cornes didn't mention that likely improvement either. Oliver is covered under the better preseason and less injuries catch all - but you're right, if clarry gets back to anywhere near his best that alone would make us significantly better than last season. I mean, bloke is one of the best players I have seen play, one of tge best of the modern era.
