Jake Lever injury - Confirmed ACL
monoccular replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
IF one player’s absence means we can’t win then we aren’t ready yet. -

Not so simple. I seem to recall when a relative did his ACL his ortho deliberately waited a few day for swelling to subside to make a better MRI diagnosis. -

Hope he returns like Jake Lever, not like Dale Morris ? -

If he needs a MRI then almost certainly not until Monday but the 2 day delay wouldn’t effect recovery from whatever it turns out to be. -

It will be what it is. Please remind me who is / are playing any similar type of rôle at Casey? Keilty? How is he coming along? Same question for Petty? It would be a backward step though could become necessary to more Tommy back? -
Sure, in hindsight. But had neither Lever or Milkshake gone down, not sure how the great Ped would fit into rotations quite frankly.

Ken. Are you a street walker?

Just caught the end of someone on ABC in rooms interview. Maybe Tommy McD? Either he or commentator said ACL was mentioned somewhere. All a bit vague, but IF a full ACL the man involved would surely know it. -
Thanks, TMD, for compiling and sharing that. What an absolutely freakish footy talent .... he gave us so much joy ... then so much heartbreak. One can only speculate how he could have done now, with a functional forward system, and mids and half backs who can actually deliver on a fairly regular basis.

He was apparently going to be a real gun ...... until his (now ex) girlfriend Delilah gave him a trim. Never the same again.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 11

Stats obviously don’t mean a lot: maybe they didn’t go where they should have. Maybe he didn’t do other things like defensive pressure, shepherding, making space. I don’t think that the emergency list tells us a lot. Joel hasn’t seemed to be anything near what he was since Nick Riewoldt dislocated Joel’s shoulder round 1 last year. Does anyone in the know have info re his physical recovery and has he regained his confidence? -
Unfair ✅. Unreasonable ✅ underserved ✅ illconsidered ✅ unbelievable sadly not. $$$ for somewhere Visy bags?

Brenno You are contradicting yourself We do not need any soft players, regardless of their upside. We showed that last trade period.

Another way of thinking: nice dry and warm but not hot and humid in Alice (by day anyway), bloody freezing in Melbourne. Who doesn't feel better after a mid winter break somewhere warm? Except of course those stereotypical MFC fans who prefer snow ;-) -

You forgot possibly the best two, the only two really of much value from the Druggies (Gary Moorcraft and Michael Heffernan didn’t set the world on fire, Michael Hibberd Jake Melksham Also Jeff Farmer did ok ! 4 of our current best 26 Hibberd, Melksham, Lewis, Vince is pretty decent pickings. And Pedo, though not currently in those ranks, has turned out to be a dedicated hard working and reliable back up. -

All things are not even re Bugg vs Spartacus as Bugg’s disposal unfortunately remains a huge problem. Is he too old to learn new tricks? -
Does Fitzpatrick still hold a position at AFL HQ? If not Carlton may get what they deserve next year, being Sunday twilights at Doglands.

The demotion of those with poor delivery skills has made a huge difference. There have been very few unforced errors in recent weeks. -

Mutual trust means each player doesn’t have to think they have to go it alone This results in far better positioning for shots at goal Running and spreading giving options for the guy with the ball The return of JV and TMcD, and of Gus in career best form The emergence and gain in poise of Fritsch, Hannan, Spartacus, ANB and Harmes The gelling of the defence again allowing trust to leave the direct opponent -
Just watching the full first half Brooooose is just appalling - practically orgasmic every time Eddie goes anywhere near the ball and so cringeworthy deferential to the woman glasser. And I never thought that Clarrie’s hands could get quicker .... but they have. Truly amazing Could have been better - actually stuffed up about 4 opportunities in Q2 in possession in deep F50 - should have won by 120+ ( I know I am getting hard to satisfy)
