Hard to see the powers-that-be disrupting a very solid defensive unit by “experimenting” with Sam as a defender, especially if Tomlinson is fit and ready at the start of preseason. I feel that Sam needs to continue to work on his marking confidence, which was good prior to 2019. Something went wrong: was it just mental, just physical or a combination? I trust our club to help him through this. Petty has in my mind secured his place this year,to the surprise of many, in our defensive unit, and is heir apparent to Steve May as FB. Smith, if he ever regains and retains physical fitness, could be a Jack of all trades.
