Casey Demons v Geelong VFL Qualifying Final
Itās a risk vs reward set up. Viney is our captain, sure we could have played him but the fact that he could possibly have gone out and injured himself is not worth it? Plus he only just got out of the ārehab groupā yesterday. I honestly donāt see how anyone would realistically see the benefit of him playing 2-3 quarters in a match. I think we were lucky to be able to put enough scoreboard damage and rest players who may be in contention for a spot. If the game came down to the wire no way Hannan and co would have been on the bench.

Casey Demons v Geelong VFL Qualifying Final
If they played last week in the AFL they arenāt allowed to play this VFL game, Iām 90% on that. I heard it, havenāt checked to 100% it but would make sense

Farewell Jesse Hogan
But how we have played and Hogan missing is independent data. Setting up 6-6-6 has meant more 1 v 1 contests, which is a situation Hogan will thrive in. Weāve been lowering our eyes and hitting targets, which would help Hogan. We are are not playing better due to not having Hogan in the side, but rather structural changes made up the ground. We have also also played without Viney, so really we shouldnāt bring him in because the spirit is only due to 22 players on the field, not at all anything structural at all

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Iād argue it does not improve our list. Midfield depth is not our issue, based on talent I think we have the most stacked midfield in the competition. Sacrificing a key forward for a developing midfielder and an already proven midfielder is not what we need. there is nothing reasonable about the suggestion of trading Hogan, there is no logic to it unless he has asked for a trade. Itās honestly one of the most ridiculous list management suggestions since, well ever.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
The trade Hogan debate is much like a trade Oliver debate. Itās ridiculous, but if a team (like Richmond) would give us Cotchin, Dusty and draft picks, weād take it. People saying Wiedemans form proves the possibility that Hogan isnāt first selection, flat ridiculous. We have a 50+ goal forward vs at best a 20 odd goal forward. Has wiedeman held his own, yes, but that isnāt the question, plus Iād suggest all 3 of our keys can fit. Also Hogan in the backline is a silly suggestion, it removes most of his natural talents in my opinion, plus why would we bother when Lever (the best intercept marker in the competition) will come back.

Key tactical issues v Geelong
Iām still shocked that people done realise the majority of the second half Frost was on Hawkins last game. That said I genuinely donāt think we match up poorly against them in any area of the field. If we are able to change lanes consistently and use it well/convert inside 50 we will win. Dangerfiel and Selwood putting the team on their back is somewhat of a worry, it I donāt think our midfield is outmatched by any in the comp.

Petracca in a rut?
Iām not sure which moment this was, but there was one where he missed it by a bees willy coming back for the intercept or spoil. From this Iād suggest (as most players on the first line often are) is to leave a space that encourages the kick but can most likely close it down, trying to create the turnover. His strength would not be playing back shoulder in a zone but pushing back or forward to intercept. When it doesnāt come off it opens, but it happened once with Clayton Oliver as well and Iām sure by going through actual footage multiple options are given like this, but the turnovers created are often dangerous.

Frosty comes in from the cold!
I think Frost has been very good, since coming up from the VFL. I initially thought we couldnāt feature a backline with 3 talls. But I think he could successfully play in the backline with Lever and OMac next year. He offers a significant point of difference and is much improved at picking the time to leave his player. Franklin playing up the ground suited Frost but he also played a much less attacking role this week.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I will preface by saying I did want to keep Watts and think that he would have been able to help hitting up targets inside 50 this year, but also think that Fritsch was an acceptable trade off. But, I never stated anything about wanting to trade Oliver, I said almost, Hogan is top 5 in our untradeables, and would be close to top 3. Gawn and Oliver are 1/2. I think you are flat out wrong, heās nearly been our most important player this year. His early year form was at all Australian level. I will agree that his pressure on the ground could improve, but will put that down to efforts in the air and km covered. Its ridiculous for people to call for him to be traded. But sure, if we get the right compensation he is tradeable. As with anyone. If we got Grundy and Sidebottom for Gawn Iād trade Gawn, but itās unrealistic. To trade Hogan for draft picks is ridiculous

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Not stirring at all, people who call for the trade of Hogan have the footy acumen of a sponge. He is close to the most untradable player on our list, his efforts this year have been far superior to whatās is portrayed by the gooses that suggest his trade. Trading Hogan, puts us back 4-5 years. There is no legitimate reason to trade him and suggestions from anyone to do it is just stupid. The further calls of playing him in VFL and playing Pederson as a forward are stupid. While Iām at it suggestion of trading Petracca is stupid also. So yep

Frosty comes in from the cold!
Frost tried manfully, we lucked out buddy didnāt kick well. 100% if same game had of been OMac everyone would have lambasted his effort allowing Buddy to have so many shots on goals. The demonland story

When will they take Hunt and Hogan off the banner?
Go to bed mate

Harmes post game interview.
Interviews of players should only be conducted of the players with nooses around their necks after games where the fans arenāt happy. Harmes was a Melbourne supporter growing up. The game was a loss sure, but at the end of the day he is enjoying his footy as he is playing well, for the most part the team is playing well and at the end of yhexday to suggest players donāt care is out right ridiculous

Farewell Jesse Hogan
People on demonland reveal their lack of knowledge about football quite often. They are done through: trade hogan trade petracca play pederson to name a few

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 21
Itās not like heās wrong, heās a great bloke and playing good football at VFL but with a Sydney side have 2 key forward (counting mccarten is almost a big of a joke) and one ruckman. For us to play 3 tall defenders is ridiculous. the Selection was always one that was going to make it easier for Sydney to score That doesnāt excuse Nathan Jones, Jayden Hunt, Alex Neal-Bullen, JKH, Spargo for having absolute stinkers
-
POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 21
Lost the game at selection, we picked a side that was too tall/too slow, they made the ground large and their smalls were always dangerous. Also, is any one else frustrated that we have the slowest and least agile smalls in ever. Gartlett and Hannan have speed and lateral movement but Spargo, JKH, Neal-Bullen(who can run) are slowish and very easily turned.

GAMEDAY - Round 21
Lucky for us Sydney have 2 on the bench, because our mistake at the selection table is already hurting us. They get out the back far too quickly with our top heavy slow backline. Midfield is getting beaten as well, but will be punished on every turn over based on how we have selected the team.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 21
Itās a bit of an exaggeration, but offensively and defensively last year Hunts speed was a weapon. This year he didnāt find the balance, often caught out of position especially defensively early in the year. Vince is slow, but by reading the play well for the most part he was able to influence more contests whilst both were playing. Hunt is clearly the quicker player, but putting yourself out of position kind of negates that, no?
-
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 21
I am not disagreeing with that, heās played well at VFL level and on form deserves to be picked. But team balance is a consideration. The whole āknow better than the coachesā is counter intuitive to any discussion and you have provided little in the way of helping me understand he reason he is selected. Cheers

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 21
Iād like to be proved wrong and see Pederson blistering pace and sure hands influence multiple contests in the air, I just donāt think heās got it in him. If Gawn is not up to play, I would not play him. Then I can see why weād bring Pederson in to compete in the ruck. If Pederson is playing as a key position defender, as he has been in the vfl, I think itās not a good fit for him. McCarten and Franklin both far too mobile for him, take him on a lead up the ground, change directions and theyāll have lost him as heās got an arc bigger than an 18 wheeler. I just canāt see the logic in selection unless Gawn is out of the side? How can you see the logic of him playing anywhere else but ruck?
