Correct JCB but this one is in a AFL club where the rules have been given a very large amount of publicity.

Issue is Port have been getting away with flaunting the injury rules for years. The AFL needs to cop most of the blame for letting them get away with it for too long.

    Dr Edelsten I presume

I worked with a highly respected neurologist for several decades who was regarded by many in the medical profession  including myself to be a genius. His management of brain injury and epilepsy was second to none. He saved and improved many lives. He turned out to be a pedophile.

It beggars belief, in 2023 how can any doctors act like this?

Not all doctors belong on a pedestal. They are human like the rest of us and the profession has its fair share of dodgy types. I worked in the medical and health care industry for 3 decades and know doctors spanning all ranges from criminals, junkies, [censored], incompetents, nut cases to well balanced and even saints. Any profession that always craps on about its integrity means there’s always something to hide.

Port wouldn't have done it if they had been properly punished after the Butters/Jonas head clash. The fact neither of them performed a concussion test was a farce, and the AFL swept it under the rug rather than receiving some bad press.

Add Rozee when cleaned up by Hunter as posted previously. As I have said before Port were the biggest abusers of the injury sub rule when it was in place. They have nothing but contempt for health and well being rules and were allowed to get away with their mockery of the concussion protocols for far too long. The AFL have really messed up by not pulling Port into line earlier.

If the AFL wants to protect itself from future litigation it has to show it is serious about the concussion issue.  Given the possibility of clubs' priorities overriding medical decisions, they must appoint and pay for independent doctors at matches.

All this just at the time when they have started halting matches when someone looks slightly injured without (to my knowledge) even announcing it is a new policy.  Why has it not been announced?  I suspect that they know it won't be enforced consistently and if it is a formal policy, teams will use it to halt momentum.

It will turn out like soccer with players feigning injury for tactical reasons. On another note I am happy it appears we have consistently and scrupulously adhered to injury protocols to the letter. Even going back to the 2021 GF when we didn’t use our injury substitute when it was so tempting to get Jordon on.

It is selfish and I was thinking the very same thing.

PS: selfish is always ok if it helps Dees.

PPS: what a great player, he was a Dees fan as I recall. Well done Buddy.

I would say ‘self interest’ is more appropriate than ‘selfish’. Selfish is more like personally gaining something to the detriment and/or denial to others. Morally questionable.  Self interest is like expressing desire for preferred advantage and/or outcome. Like it’s not selfish to want a horse to win a race or conversely to want it to lose. Anyway Buddy is without doubt the greatest superstar so far of this century.

Jones has been subbed because of a migraine? His eyes look like he’s smoked 5 bongs.

Port appear to not take injury protocols seriously and are openly mocking them. When there was the Injury Sub rule they flouted it just about every game.

2020 wasn’t a fail, initially i thought it was. The team that year was trained the Burgo way, to run over teams as the game went on.
Covid put an end to that.

We just missed out on finals in 2020. We finished the season strongly and if it wasn’t truncated to 17 rounds we could easily have made the finals and been a flag chance given the disruptions to all clubs.

  9. Last two weeks we have managed to overcome the two most potent scoring teams with our makeshift forward line despite our defence not up to usual miserly standards. Very impressive has been our ball movement and ability to play a different style of game.

We can’t overtake the pies so I hope they beat the snot out of freo next weekend.

If Collingwood finish top and we finish fourth it’s the same as the other way around. Maintain our position and avoid an interstate first final. Up to us to stay there. No benefit for us in finishing higher. Just hope Port stumble a bit and Collingwood keep cruising.

Great result for us, and Jackson had minimal impact for the Dockers. Carlton looked pretty slick though and we still have to face them in what could be a key game for both teams.

With Tasmania looming, the next draft could be crucial, so getting three picks inside the top 30 of a so-called super-draft would see us coming out on the credit side of the Jackson deal if our recruiters get it right (as they mostly have done in recent years).

Jackson was very dominant in the last two minutes of the game

I’m overseas so Kayo won’t play ball. The game day thread sounded like we lost by 10 goals. Apparently we won according to the AFL app! Jeez the negativity on here is epic.

Currently in a Langkawi. Signed for a month subscription with WatchAFL and watched tonight’s game. Works very well and great image quality.

  13. Darren Bennett’s goal kicking was a wonder for most of his career but like all footballers he had his wobbles. Towards the end of his career with us his general field and goal kicking deteriorated markedly. Lost a lot of confidence due to persistent injuries. If he could have managed his fitness he would have become our all time best goal kicker I believe. He made the right choice going to the NFL where he would only be relying on his prodigious kicking talent with minimal game time and less punishment on his body.

Really? Rarely sighted? He's averaging 30 touches a game. Had 41 against the Lions and 33 and 3 goals against Freo.

To be fair no one notices GWS players unless playing against their side. The exception is when Toby Green creates another outrage.

  16. I would like to see our players a little more an adventurous going forward like when approaching i50and taking longer shots at goal. Too many times plonking it 20 metres out with both Gawn and Brown flying for the same ball or hitting up players wide where accuracy is difficult. Opposition defenders know where to congregate. 73 i50’s and no bothered to have a decent long shot. Gotta encourage a little more dare towards goal and break the mold.

Tiges having their [censored] handed to them here. My preference was a tiges win but now that doesn't look possible i hope they get belted by 100 points.

We don’t want Brisbane to close in our our percentage. Third spot is still up for grabs.
