Demonland Crystal Ball 2017: Your predictions for next season
P-man replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
So this was a thing. After scanning through some admittedly slim pickings, I've landed on a winner: Congratulations to @ding the 2017 Demonland Crystal Ball winner. I think you should treat yourself to a membership renewal to celebrate (). Stay tuned for the 2018 version and your chance to win this auspicious title. -
Seems likely mate. At least up until reports of houses coming down on the training track.
-
I'll be renewing but they can bloody well wait. Couldn't muster up a win against a hopeless North from two attempts. Couldn't muster up the prunes to beat a second string Collingwood to give the supporters one measly finals appearance. Meanwhile Richmond, [censored] RICHMOND, plodded their way to a flag on the back of household names like Nathan Broad - a bloke I had not heard of until he snapchatted a stranger with his premiership medallion between her jugs. Yeah, last season still stings.

Where did I say I believed him?
-
Is that documented re Motlop? Chris Scott was very up front when asked about his desire to keep him. Pretty much the opposite of Goodwin re Watts.

Any Chance Jake Spencer back to MFC as Rookie?

You're a classy fella. -
Thread needs a poll.
-
Not disputing that.
-
Was Woey that shocking a Brownlow choice that he can't even find a spot on the bench in these teams? Not saying it's right or wrong but it's certainly interesting.
-
No slight on him at all and I wish him the best of luck, but using the word "star" to describe Joel Macdonald absolutely confirms to me that the word has lost all meaning in the mainstream.
-
Another vote for Nev from me.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC
P-man replied to ignition.'s topic in Melbourne Demons
If he's half as good as Freo fans on BF claim he is then we've got ourselves a bargain. -
Are we seriously paying some of his salary as well? lol Wow.
-
If you don't think some posters blindly support anything the club does, you don't spend enough time on Demonland. How "dumb" you think that observation is means very little.
-
Early second round I thought was fair value. It's a little unders but nothing dramatic. Again I would question these repeated references to "9 years". It's not relevant and feels petty in the extreme. What this thread has re-enforced to me is that some will back the club on literally anything. Goodwin could release a video of himself strangling a puppy, and there'd be posters on here here saying, "well, the puppy clearly had it coming.." I understand why that is. Blind optimism is an attractive default position. Personally I think it's better to think for yourself than always bow to club decisions. But each to their own. I wish Watts well in the land of shitty tap water. He's frustrated over the journey but he's Melbourne through and through and always will be. It's a sad end no matter where your allegiances lie.
-
Not sure why those happy to see him traded are fixating on the nine years. Surely what's relevant is the player he is now (based on the past 2-3 years), and the estimated number of years he has left in his career. Everyone knows his first 5-6 years were underwhelming at best, but in the scheme of things that is irrelevant to the discussion. It's what he's producing now and into the future that is of importance.
-
It's extremely cynical to reduce the dire need at that time for a quality senior player as protecting Roos' reputation. The club was desperate to pick itself up off the canvass in 14-16. It did so, and Vince was pivotal in being able to do that. He was essentially a straight swap for Sylvia. He was needed to provide a competitive balance on the field and stem the flow of constant embarrassment. Outside of "what about Matt Crouch?" (who I'm yet to hear that we would've recruited anyway), I can't fathom anyone calling Vince, a best and fairest winner, a failure for a second round pick.

Oscar's foot skills will exceed those of his brother. He looks a lot neater.
-
DS you're one of my favourite posters. But mate. Vince was overs? Put the crack pipe down.
-
I'm not thrilled with giving up two first round picks for, talented or not, an intercept marking defender. But I'm also not unhappy. He's a known commodity and he makes us a better side. Welcome aboard Jakey boy. May you bring us lots of money. Um, I mean success.
-
Shout out to the mod who added "Walker" after Tex to my post. I would hate that people thought I was talking about Tex Perkins.
-
I'm doing everything I can to ignore the alarm bell clanging in my ears about Goodwin. Someone get me that musical duo from the BnF. That should drown it out.
-
He's prone to throwing the toys out of the cot. I recall he used to get very short with interviewers when asked about Dangerfield, and his post match speech at the GF was surely one of the most pathetic that stage has seen. It's fine to be disappointed but show some leadership for god's sake.

Trade Radio played audio of Tex Walker teeing off on Lever on Triple M Adelaide. Did not hold any punches. Said he has chosen "money over success". Had some respect for Adelaide as a club but they are not handling this situation with much dignity,
