I will be watching the womens curling at the Olympics instead.

Think about it. Would they bring in Motlop and Rockliffe on big enough dollars to push one of their leaders, and best players, out of the club?
-
Never heard of front/backloading contracts? You are questioning experts in their field, all while using media reports as part of your weaponry. Truly amazing.
-
In the compensation formula, how much does a player's contract have to be worth to be deemed a 1st round compo pick? Let's not forget we got a 1st round pick for Frawley - his contract was around the $450k mark. The avg AFL salary is $371k - not exactly "poo-change" either. With the cap at some $12m+, $500k a season isn't a lot for a middle tier player. We have no idea how much each player is on, and by "we", I mean the media too. But sure, use their "reports" to help your argument if you wish, I just won't give your side any credit if you do.

I would be horribly surprised if they paid overs for any of the three they brought in. Geelong (Motlop) and Brisbane (Rockliffe) wanted both players gone, and we were the same, so much so that we are still paying part of his contract. You've allowed yourself to believe what you read in the many articles about the Power's recruiting/trade "bonanza" at the end of last season. They picked up 3 players that weren't wanted by their original club because of a range of issues, and if you want to add Trengove (who I sincerely hope gets to play senior footy), it was a cheap risk that hasn't made them any better.

And you don't think our purse will be tight when Oliver, Trac, Gawn and Hogan are next our of contract? Let's not forget they paid SFA for Watts, which was made even less given we are paying part of his contract.

The qualities in your last paragraph is what makes him a dominant ruck, but he's not the dominant forward option some are talking about on here. Joe Danihar (200+ cm) is a good example of someone that has the same qualities (except the ruck part) as Max, but is a dominant forward. He's not dominant when he goes in the ruck. Ben Brown (200+ cm) is the same. I'd be very surprised if Max kicks more than 10 goals this season. And he'll kick more when playing ruck than he will when resting forward. Take it to the bank. -

If Max is so dominant at ground level playing forward, and creates such a mismatch for the opposition, why don't we have Pedo playing 1st ruck and Man playing one out in the square? You only have to look at our opponents in Round 1 to see how this will play out. If Max is there (deep forward), they will have either Harry Taylor or Lachie Henderson zoning off him all day long. In my view, that's why we need to play Pederson, as well as Hogan and McDonald. -

So nothing to do with my questioning of his agility/mobility/pressure acts when resting forward? Thought as much. -

Well done, in one post you've managed to not addrss my original point, managed to support my original point, theb also misinterpret my original point totally, all in a matter of two paragraphs. That's quite an art. -

Difference with Roos at Sydney and Roos at Melbourne, he had the players around the likes of LRT that could be relied on. He had also been there for 3 years or so before that flag, so he had that time to train/teach those other players. There was SFA that Roos could do in his first year with us, in terms of finding an average role player (similar to LRT), then moulding the rest of the team around that. OMc is a great comparison to LRT in many ways, and we saw how well (at times) he performed last year, mainly because Goodwin had the cattle around him to help succeed (Jetta, Hibberd, Hunt). -

The mobility and forward pressure of Tmc won't help our forward line when he is pinch-hitting in the ruck. Why do you think Pedo has trimmed down and worked a lot on his tank? Will be the same when/if Weed can come on (TMc will become the relief ruck). You've said it yourself, we have 2 quality KPFs in Hogan and McDonald. Our entire forward line structure, and a lot of our game plan, would be built around the way those 2 work together. You take one of them out to give Gawn a chop out, and your structure is impacted. One solution is to rest Gawn forward, but as you said, mobility/forward pressure will be a KPI, something that will let Gawn down. -

I will ignore it, thanks. Time will prove who is the better judge, and at this stage, regardless of what structure the Bulldogs and Richmond had, I'm very confident time will prove me right. -

2 keys + a ruck relief is the answer, and ask more of our wingers to help lock it in. Richmond flukes a premiership with a makeshift forward line. Their's is an exception to the rule, and I sincerely hope we don't follow them. -
There's some at Albert Park looking for a job, Biff. Can your Aunt drive a bus? If so, tell her to do a quick lap of the lake, pick up any of them that are filling out Centrelink forms, and drop them off at AAMI Park.
-
Shame your NIMBY aunt didn't take a trip up to NIMBIN! Chill Aunt Biff. Chill.
-
Depending on which corner you are in, either Tom will kick 100 this year, or Oscar will have 100 kicked on him.
-
Armstrong will just sit back and polish his premiership medallion while all this reminiscing is happening...

You've admitted in the past that Jones tells you SFA at the very least. In response to the OP, I think Jones is still a very important cog in our midfield. Without him, we have a young, confident (bordering on cocky) group of mids. They will make some teams look silly, but will still get shown up against some of the hardened mids like Geelong, Sydney, etc. I can also see Jones doing a "Lewis", by playing back rather than forward. Just not yet.

You complain about Joel's skills, then whinge because we didn't pick up Dylan Grimes instead? Wow.

It does make sense, given I didn't say Collingwood have a store in the CBD. They, like a few other clubs, have merchandise available in many places. The greater presence of their merch will naturally lead to more sales. Also leads to greater exposure of the individual club. Potentially rent free, but how much does this reduce our sales by? If we had to pay (more) rent for a more accessible store in the CBD, you would like to think that this would increase our sales. We may not make any more from it, but the exposure of our brand would increase, which has the chance to increase potential sponsor exposure. Wasn't that at all. He liked the shirt, it was accessible, so he bought it. Also, a magpie looks a bloody lot different to a kiwi.
