Precious. Supporters complain about the culture of the club - read this post and take a look in the mirror. Pert and Bartlett are pushing [censored] uphill

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
I get some of the difficulties but Jesus Christ today was a day for the supporters of the club to make a statement. They keep wanting the club and team to make a statement they need to do it themselves. When they showed the 21k figure on scoreboard I was embarrassed. We want the AFL to treat us with respect (eg not shunt us off to Cairns for 2 games in 5 days making us fly up the same day as our game) we need to earn not just by results onfield but by the supporters showing they actually give a damn. No doubt head office would've been looking at that and rueing the dollars gone begging by agreeing not to switch our game with the Hawks/Bombers.

People need to stop watching tv and reading the papers. Life is far less stressful that way.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Quoting this post but have seen it mentioned multiple times in this thread Freo were not injury riddled. They had a couple of key players out, same as us. They still had a top notch midfield in there in Fyfe, Mundy, Brayshaw, Cerra.

Round 1 Crowd
Yep I was there with my son, parents, uncle, brother, sister, cousin and I also scanned in with 6 spare tickets I had in the AFL members to help with the crowd figures. We won, never really looked like being headed and the atmosphere was crap because our "supporters" stayed home instead of going along and supporting the team and club.

Round 1 Crowd
Excuses. Richmond, Carlton, Collingwood and Footscray supporters seemed to be able to figure out the ticketing. First game in 18 months, sunny Saturday arvo at the G. No excuses for people staying away 21k is an embarrassment.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Great to get the win, always a good feeling getting the first 4pts in the bank. Clearances need massive work. 21k is an embarrassment. Pull your fingers out Melbourne supporters. Loved the look of Jackson and Pickett, will get better with experience. Petracca relatively quiet, must nail those simple set shots if you want to be the best. Lever and May incredible in defense and Jetta held up well also. Oliver 30 touches but what did he really do? A couple of nice things but needs to learn to punish Will be much better once Brown and Weideman return. Undid a lot of good work with poor conversion although the Dockers let us off the hook a couple of times as well. Without Fyfe we probably win by another 3 or 4 goals though.

Round 1 Crowd
Not just pathetic, I reckon it's actually a disgusting performance by the MFC supporters. Congrats to all of us who were there, where are the other 30,000 of you?? Disgraceful, how about you actually support your team? No wonder the AFL treats us like the poor relation.

Demonland Podcast Featuring Gary Pert
I agree, anything sub-30k and the AFL would be looking at us and asking serious questions. Somewhere around 40k should be the expectation.

Demonland Podcast Featuring Gary Pert
It's a bit frustrating - of course wins will translate into memberships and bums on seats, but what strategies do they have to capitalise on any success or expand our demographic? What strategies do they have to tap into new markets (ie migrant communities) or strengthening our ties to the Casey area? Players doing sessions at local schools is fine but I don't think it's going to cut the mustard.

Demonland Podcast Featuring Gary Pert
Exactly, he's obviously not gonna give specific details on the base but if he could at least give us a timeline of when to expect further info that would be appreciated. It's extending into years now, if nothing is announced this year people will lose trust in Pert and the board. I'd like to see a couple of questions asked about membership - firstly, how many unique members have MFC had over the last 5 years. And secondly, other than trying to re-sign lapsed members what strategies does the club have in place to increase membership and get us to the 75k target the board have set themselves by 2023?

Exactly though channel 7 wouldn't have liked it.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
We got almost 40k vs GWS r23 2018 and almost 40k vs Port R1 2019. We usually get about 27k vs Freo but with it being the first game many can go to for 18 months and being a sunny 27 degrees I would be disappointed if we didn't get around 35k at least. And stuff Docklands, MCG is our home that's where we play. The Bombers have a problem that's their bad luck for signing up with Docklands 20 years ago.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
AFL Memberships with MFC club support count as an MFC GA Membership and the club receives the equivalent cost of a GA Membership from the AFL.

Mate I'm in the AFL reserve as well and I reckon we'll have a bay each to ourselves - should be plenty of seats around that you can move to
