Agreed, I thought he was on his last legs but he has been fantastic since returning to the side earlier this year.

I think it's because there is no prior opportunity - if a player is tackled without prior opportunity and the ball "spills free" in the tackle and the tackler doesn't let go it is holding the man. Goes against the spirit of the rule when the player just drops it though, should be play on probably.
