  1. Andrew hasn't been mates with him for years, so I don't have the pic, unfortunately. It should be on the web somewhere though.....it was a pretty famous mark. I do remember seeing it on one of the Youtube clips, one that was all about Melbourne marks....I'll have a quick search for it. sorry to go off topic, but personally I think Steven Stretch's marking abilities is a more interesting topic than BT any day!!
  2. Lyrics wise, does anyone else think the song "How far We've Come" by Matchbox Twenty is an odd choice of song to play at the ground? Singing about the end of the world tends to pessimistic thinking in my books.....
  3. was he there yesterday? I didn't notice him at all, unless he was on while I was still in the Redlegs room. also, did anyone hear the bagpipe player down towards the Punt Road oval? I'd parked at the Richmond Social Club, realised when I got to my car that I'd left my jacket in the Redlegs area, walked all the way back again, stayed for the raffle and then walked back to my car. All this would have taken over half an hour, and the entire time that bagpipe player was still going...
  4. it started before then, actually, as the ball was come down to that pocket, Glass was all over Petterd and was clearly holding him, preventing him from getting to the ball. That should have been a free then and there. And then after the ball went back to the centre, Glass was still on Petterd, pushing him to the ground, then, as the umpire was running towards them, Glass picked Petterd up by the shoulder and slammed his head into the ground about 3 times, treading on him as he was going. The umpire should have given Petterd the free and reported Glass, but did neither. Absolutely appalling.
  5. yeh, he swore at the umpire. I hope Glass goes on a video charge for his rough play, that was a disgrace. I distinctly remember yelling "Report him!" and then the idiot umpire took Petterd's number!

    Ruckmen

Yeh, i would agree. Last year I was really worried about Jamar and wondered if we let Jeff White go too early before Jamar could develop, but he's certainly developed into a classy ruckman - he slaughtered his opponent yesterday, great to see. Meesen has been hit by the back luck stick with his injury, Spencer seems to be developing nicely but both should prove to be a good back up in the future to Jamar.
  7. I like Petterd up forward, yesterday he proved himself quite capable. And of course putting Davey there would provide some of his goal-kicking magic I miss when he's further upfield!!! Watts needs to develop a fair bit before he'd be considered for full-forward, I'd have thought.....
  8. No, it wasn't a finals match, it was during hte year, I remember Collingwood beat us by about 10 goals that day. I reckon it was about 1988 or 89, I remember we were in the Redlegs section in the Northern stand and I was with my brother and his mate, who brought along his fancy SLR camera and flukishly took a photo of Stretch's mark, as it was right in front of us. Actually, I'm sure it was May 1989, Dad wasn't there because he was in America on holiday with my mum - I remember talking to him on the phone that evening.
  9. Yze_Magic, did you just say "spot on" to one of your own comments?
  10. Don McLardy will do a fine job, he would not be Jim's Vice President if he didn't have the same philosophy and passion for the club. Jim has handpicked some fantastic people for the board and for the management and we as members need to have faith in Jim's choosings. More than anything we as a club need to work together to ensure the work the current board's efforts are not in vain, ie, keep buying memberships, keep going to games and keep supporting the board. Cam Schwab coming back after the appalling way he was treated by Gutnick was a massive feat, and between him and McLardy, I have full confidence that the club will continue going in the right direction. Please don't look at Jim's illness to be defeatist and chuck in the towel, the club is too important than that and that would be the last think Jim would want happen. The board certainly aren't defeatist atm so neither should the members. Don actually spoke at half time in the Redlegs Room yesterday and it was incredible the amount of support the Redlegs members were giving him. I hope it's across the board!
  11. 6. Grimes 5. Jamar 4. Silvia 3. McLean 2. Bruce 1. Petterd
  12. I was at Punt Road end of Southern Stand in the Redlegs area, it was barely audible from there...
  13. Martin's still quite young, too, he'll develop more bulk and strength as his career goes on. It'll be exciting to see him grow as a forward.
  14. I'd agree, the free kick count is actually pretty evenly matched, although in quite low numbers. There were some damn good tackles yesterday that were just not rewarded.
  15. Can I just comment on these ones..... Bennell did a fair bit, I thought he did more than Jetta, actually, I saw him do some great disposals Frawley - I thought made some stupid mistakes early in defense, he was the cause of those two free kicks in front of WC goals bringing their score up above Melbourne's. Same with Rivers in the last quarter, although I put that down to fatique! I was surprised Bailey didn't take him off for a rest at that stage
  16. Apparently for striking, i wasn't aware of that report till I heard it on the radio in the car going home. I just couldn't believe how blatant the Petterd one was, at one stage, when he was on the ground, Glass picked him up by the shoulders and repeatedly slammed his head into the ground. And the ump wondered why he swore!
  17. he did very well yesterday on Matthew Spangher, who proved himself to be in need of self control and anger management session, what a goose he made of himself yesterday, even before the first bounce!
  18. That was when Petterd was reported for swearing at the umpire. Glass should have been reported for his conduct, it was appalling. It should have been a free for holding the man, shepparding, whatever, Glass was way out of line. If I was Petterd I'd be swearing too!
  19. I agree, it was so darn quiet yesterday!
  20. Hi everyone I've just joined the forum, so I hope you'll be gentle! I've been a Dees supporter all my life, and have been a member of the club since I was 8 years old, so 30 years now. I've been a Redlegs member for a few years now, but it's not the same as the Redlegs were back in the late 80s/early 90s, when it was in the old Northern stand. As a teacher I constantly have to put up with students laughing at me when I say I'm a Melbourne supporter, usually Collingwood kids! Doesn't worry me though
