Reading the ped discussion, it is nice to see we actually have a smart coach on match day. Makes a pleasant change that we can actually observe some smart coaching results on field.

How will the gameplan evolve with a forward line?
mdemonski2 replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure about fitzy and skill but yes to height and speed. Agree watts has all three, he now has to use these assets effectively. -

With a name like Dwayne, what can you expect? I mean who looks at a baby and thinks "Lets call this little baby Dwayne". He was always going to struggle in whatever he did in life. -

Thanks for enlightening me. My world is now a better place thanks to your lesson on the possessive apostrophe. Now can you please go and write a book or alternatively let's talk footy on here. Ps oh my, did I get let's right. Or is it lets? I wouldn't dream of inserting an apostrophe incorrectly. There I go again is it wouldn't or wouldnt? Will I ever be able to post again without fear of another grammatical reprimand! -

Far too many posters in demonland are grammar nazi's. I suggest go and write a book and get it out of the system. No place for spelling lessons on a footy fan forum! -
Neeld made a lot of mistakes, but this wasn't one of them
mdemonski2 replied to TGR's topic in Melbourne Demons
I never heard bailey in a pre game speech but I still cringe when I think of neeld's televised one. Now I know that is one small element of coaching but it was appalling. If it was symptomatic of the way he coached in other aspects it is no wonder we got smashed each week. -
I don't know if these supporters actually exist. There is no snow all winter at Hotham or any other mountain in Oz for that matter!
-
Wonder if his pre game speech will be taped again? Might be a good come down after popping a few disco biscuits.

Kent looked really good at training Monday. Over his pre-season niggles. He was kicking really nicely, I didn't know his foot skills were actually that good and hope he can dispose of the ball that efficiently come the real stuff. Watts kicking was sublime by the way. He hit blokes up perfectly even when he looked to be slightly over ambitious. Again hope this continues when the season starts but signs much better on the skill levels of the team overall. When I have watched in previous season, skills did not seem as sharp and nor were they performed under simulated match conditions (which seems to be happening more often this year).

I was there but hard to focus on drills and training report as I had both kids running amock. Some random observations: Some competitive one on one marking/spoiling near me was really impressive. Dunn a stand out, rarely beaten and uses voice to instruct younger guys. Despite his light frame Hunt actually did ok in the same drill. Michie, Cross, Tyson etc. means we can actually work the ball through in the full length match drills. Lots if game simulation today. Players really intense and involved with lots of discussions/analysis when they were rotating through the drill. Watch Watts this year. I think he is set for a real bolter. Blease and tapy might also surprise a few. Skills pretty good for most of the session. And it was nearly all skills (although we did get there 40 min late) Saw Hogan and Clark do a run through but not much else. Viney not sighted. Howey a great bloke with the kids. My little one asked how many speccies he would take this year. He said how many do you want. She said just 30! Not asking much are we!

Let's merge with essendon. We can call the new team, the Melbourne Demons and use a red and blue strip. Sounds only fair.

Target acquired, conversion in progress...

I've converted an Irish mate, wasn't too hard with him enjoying the game from his Gaelic background and the story of our Jimmy. He is now a member and rusted on supporter! -

Name 3 players you are keen to see in 2014 and why

You are not allowed to disagree with BH. He is always right. Just ask him. Rather than BH he should be known as FIGJAM. -

Ben Hur is always right. Just ask him. I am just glad us mere mortals get to read his posts on demonland. Agree with you Sat. After all the afl draft writer picked the top 13 all in order, so top 5 consensus is pretty easy to pick. -

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAYDEN HUNT

Robert shaw is a brilliant coach of young footballers. He is churning them out at BGS. Must be something in the sea air for sure. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN SALEM

Ben Hur is going to have a full melt down. His shoulder chip re BGS is as wide as the Grand Canyon now! -
Don't tell Ben Hur that. He has a massive chip on his shoulder re BGS (one of them stole his girl and beat him up apparently). He would much prefer they went to an eastern suburbs private school and might cry again. What makes it worse for the poor boy is that Salem is also a BGS lad.

Herald sun has freeman sliding down to 15 as he needs to tidy up his kicking. Has us taking Salem at 9. I think (unless someone slides) we will go Salem. God knows we need some great kicks in the midfield esp now Aaron has hung up the boots. Don't mind the thought of Viney, cross, michie and jones feeding watts, toump and Salem and kicking it down the throat of our big boys.
