Who do we realistically target for a trade?
mdemonski2 replied to Dee1987's topic in Melbourne Demons
And to offer himself up as a coach in a package deal. -
I’m surprised Barry P didn’t recruit him during his golden recruiting era.
-
Interesting. I am a bit of a basket case as well. anything single handed I am right (dominant side) so writing, bowling in crickey, kicking etc. but anything double handed such as batting, hand balling etc I am left. dancing to the beat of a different drum I like to call it!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
mdemonski2 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seen both brayshaw and petracca play this year (against each other). Very evenly matched and hard to split as both clearance machines with good skills that go forward and kick goals. I slightly preferred brayshaw with his excellent dual sided disposal myself. Time will tell as to who will be the better player but I do wonder how many on here take Damien Barrett approach of having a preference, despite never seeing either play? -
What makes you say brayshaw is a lesser quality player? Have you actually seen either play? I have and both are high quality, a level above the other kids on field and with different strengths. Don't worry whoever gets brayshaw will be very happy with his quality. I found it hard to split them. So interested to know what makes petracca so much better?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
mdemonski2 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry disagree. Haven't watched the clip but have seen brayshaw and petracca live last weekend. I actually found it hard to determine which is a better player but they were a step up from all other players out there, both skills wise and with physical size. Both ready to go round 1 2015 for whomever selects them and a significant upgrade on a number of players we currently have in our best 22 (not that this is all that hard!). -
Have you seen Tyler play? I did last week. Would have to be a rookie I would think. Has some potential bit not sure he ha she tools to make it.
-
Fair question but they both have skills to back it up. Brayshaw kicked three goals and Petracca two and both were real barometers for their team (sandy beaten early when brayshaw quieter and on top as he lifted and he same for Eastern with Petracca). So I would say they are the best players out there regardless of size but with their size they should he able to play senio footy round one next year. Hope that makes sense. Clearly I was impressed with both of their talents and personally would be wrapt to get them at pick 2 and 3. But i ain't no recruiter nor even profess to watching any footy at u 18 level so nothing to compare with really.
-
From what I saw at sandy yesterday, both brayshaw and petracca built like men already. All players need role models and we have failed badly on this front over a number of years. But neither of these boys will need protection on the ground, the other u18s they were tackling could do with some though. Both hit mighty hard.
-
No Paul Roos sighted by moi. Tyler goes ok on field. Good luck to him.

Ok so I had a look at dragons v ranges at sandy today. Now u don't profess to be an expert in talent spotting and with my two little guys in tow I was not 100 per cent focused. However, all I can say is please let's pick brayshaw and petracca with two and three. They would set up our midfield for a decade or more. Both a cut above and wherever they play next year, both will be ready round one next year. I was super impressed with brayshaw. Started slowly, took a big hit in q2 had a spell and then changed the game for the dragons (26 points down at that stage and won by a goal). Tackles hard, disposal excellent on both sides (not sure he would fit in at the dees as a result!) and reads the ball brilliantly at stoppages. Polished and highly professional. Yes please. Petracca. Probably the opposite in terms of started like a house on fire and then )while good all game), slowed down in the second half as did ranges. Both were barometers for their respective teams . The ball just seems to follow petracca and he was always in the action whether back or forward. Would not say he is 'explosive' but he attacks the ball hard, disposes efficiently. Both kicked multiple goals, maybe three each and looked a level above all others on the ground. Would be hard to split. Petracca probably stronger overhead but brayshaw actually looks cleaner with the ball. Pleas mfc don't trade 2 and frawley 3. These two would give us all hope for the future. And they are ready to go, not skinny u 18s like most of the other players out there.
-
Lads I'm heading to sandy to watch u 18s ranges v dragons. Petracca and brayshaw playing so will give my thoughts on here
-
What about 13 and zeibell. North have a lot of good inside midfielders and may be prepared to trade one. Mind you I might just be dreaming as I like their inside ball winners.

Where are all the demonland experts calling for watts head on a platter now? Yes he needs more consistency but he is an important player for us going forward
-
Pauline says 'please explain'
-
Ps don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out and I don't know why I have defended you in the past....I feel violated!
-
So what is a fair trade for watts. Just when he starts to deliver he makes it pretty clear on footy show tonight he already he has one foot out the door. What is a fair trade, player or pick? For me it has to be a top 10 pick or a decent starting mid.

So there is a 25 page thread on a first year player in the most crapola side I have seen. Do you really think this kid is our biggest problem? Now I'm not a smart man but maybe we should be looking elsewhere in identifying the real problems in this chronically underperforming side that each year serves up the same dribble
-
If we trade for caddy with pick 13, we must also get an agreement from gc not to bid on viney. I would not mind if we also agree pick 4 for md pick 2 for gws with the same agreement. Could end up: - pick 3 (toumpas/orourke/kennedy for speed outside) - pick 4 hogan (kpf) - pick 13 + pettard - caddy + toy - 2nd round viney - some fta eg: byrnes, russell etc Would be happy with this.
-
Add in a word on the side to not bid for Viney. GWS tanking for Whitfield anyway.
-
He is well worth 13 in my view (especially as it allows us viney in round 2). Good point re an onfield midfield leader. I think jonesy would be just as good as boak in that respect. Grimes and trenners another year under the belt. I reckon we are ok but would be ok if we decided on an older free agent for a couple of years eg: a chappy to bring some outside expereince froma successful club into the mix.
-
I like getting caDdy with 13. Throw in pettard as well if they want him (a gc boy who we will likely delist anyway). And get gc to agrEe not to nominate viney with pick 2. Gws tanking to get whitfield at 1 anyway. Happy with 3, 4, caddy and viney.

I can't see the footy club doing it either. Thank god they are far too smart for that.
