  1. Davey suspended by Leadership Group

MELBOURNEfc's Aaron Davey has been suspended for a week of AFL football for unprofessional preparation in the lead-up to his Round 14 match against Brisbane.

Davey, was in Darwin during the week leading into Round 14, attending a close friend's mother's funeral.

Davey volunteered his lack of preparation and unprofessionalism during his time in Darwin to the Leadership Group once he returned to Melbourne. The group recommended to the Match Committee that Aaron play a week at Sandringham as a sanction.

Davey is now unavailable to play for MELBOURNEfc this Sunday against the Western Bulldogs and will line-up for Sandringham against Williamstown on Saturday.

No further comment will be made.

    Just read this on bigfooty!

Surely it's a [censored] weak to suspend sumone when they just attended someone's funeral?

If he did the wrong thing funeral or not we are trying to build a professional culture/organisation and rules are rules. No point empowering the leadership group to come up with rules to follow and then picking and choosing when they want to follow them.

I am comfortable they have all the facts and have made the right call whatever it is he has done.

  2. OMG..

Your really tsting my nerve champ..

I have no idea what im talking bout huh.. well wats ur big idea for our list??

Just because u dont agree, which is fine, u dont have to shoot everything down..

FOR THE 6th TIME< THESE TRADES ARE AN INDICATION OF WHAT WE NEED< NOT AN EXACT EXAMPLE!!

I did think them through, but if i posted all the potential trades, we'd be here forever..

    To make it even simpler..

Im basically saying, the players i pont out COULD be used as trade bait, and the TARGETS COULD be a rael assistance to our list!

I then made up a few quick MOCK trades to help demonstrate my point, ok!!

    WOW!

This is where you don't get it CHAMP

You want to trade bloke we haven't been able to get on the park for two years due to injury and expect to get gold in return. And then when you get shot down you claim they are only examples.

Seriously mate think about this. If you were the Adelaide recruiters and Melbourne walked up to you at trade time and said we would like to trade for one of your promising key forwards and in return we will give you a bloke who has seriously bad OP so much so that he hasn't been able to play all that often since being at our club. Oh and by the way he has a couple of social problems and really hasn't delivered on his potential.

And then if you haven't stopped laughing in your role as Adelaide recruiter quickly switch hats to become the St Kilda recruiter and imagine wht you would say to the Melbourne recruiter that ambles up to you and says hey have I got a deal for you. A bloke not quite big enough to be CHB that has had crippling OP for at least two years plus a bloke who has never really found a home at either end of the ground but looks just alright as CHF in exchange for one of your alleged better players.

See the point is that it is all well and good to think up trades and I agree some of those players you want in would help our list. Why not go the whole hog though and trade Rivers and Miller for Franklin and Bruce for Ablett Jnr cause you know what both of those trades are as stupid as the ones you have proposed.

What is the point of proposing trades if they are not an exact example ?????

  3. Unless the kid is a first or second rounder then Geelong wont bat for Prisnall and they dont want Bruce... Assessment: Ditto

If Pris wants out the cats will have to deal. He is out of contract at end of year and asked to be traded last year.

  4. See, this is my point, this blokes tryin to say the opposite, that WERE bein' hard done by!!

Not 1 person is understanding my point, its the CONCEPT!!

These trades are to be treated as an example!!

So many r to narrow minded!

I know its hard to realise, but WERE CRAP!! WE need some change, DONT ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY!!

We cant get better with NO CHANGE!!

im not saying, trade 4 players!!

Just 1 of them is progress, trading sylvia for a DEVELOPING FORWARD!! not JUST Tippett!!

I hope u can begin to see where im comin from!

I don't think were being hard done by. I just think you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Why for instance would Adelaide trade Tippett for Col Sylvia a bloke who has done nothing to live up to a pick 5.

Again whay would Saints who seem to be in love with Kosi trade him for a bloke who can't get on the park for the last two years.

Thirdly what value would Bruce (who wont be even offered for trade as he is captain - this is my point) offer to the Cats at his age.

My point is if you really want to put up these types of trades then at least have a small think about what you are saying before you put them up and think about whether the other club would even be remotely interested in picking up the player you are proposing. I was not thinking we were getting ripped off just pointing out to you that clubs don't trade captains

  5. As for Bruce 4 Prismall, it would need to be more complex, like us adding a kid or a pick..

oh now we have to give up a captain and a kid or pick to get a bloke that struggles to get a game. Why not just give Geelong pick 1 for him and be done with it.

Get it through your head about Pris (as I know his family) the kid will leave at years end. Is out of contract and will hold all of the cards. Cats will do what they can to get something for him, but a captain and a pick or a kid is waaaayy over the odds.

  6. You do realise Bruce is currently the captain don't you. Why on earth would we trade him for a bloke that has struggled to get a game for the last couple of years, and will want out at the end of the year unless he stays in for the remainder of the year. Geelong will realise then have to trade for what they can get. Aint going to be the captain mate.

Additionally why would we trade for Kosi. Injured, no awareness, not really that good. What makes you reckon we could improve him.

As G Lyon said until I hear the rumour that Sylvia wants to go to Adelaide from his own mouth then I will treat it as rubbish. Kid is from Ballarat why would he want to be traded to Adelaide.

And as someone else said CJ will not be delisted at the end of the year, and I doubt Bode will be either. Whelan, Buckley, Newton and Miller will al be there as well. Newton is the only question mark in my opinion if his rumoured attitude is still giving the club problems.

  7. Prismal would have been great, but now he has a spot on the geelong team and got 32 possies last year. he would cost WAY too much to trade for.

Targeted players should be those NOT getting opportunities at other clubs.

If we could convince Mitch Thorp that he will never get into the Hawks line up (Buddylove, Roughead, Boyle, Dowler, Williams etc), then that would be the smartest thing the demons have done in the last 20 years. He is a future superstar, pick 1 PSD would be lovely.

Otherwize, Robbie Warnock looks a certainty for the PSD, we'll probalbyl only have to offer pick 32 coz freo can't do [censored] if he threatens to walk

why would it cost too much for Pris. He holds all the cards remember as he is out of contract. If Geelong want to get something for him then they will trade for whatever they can get for him even a third round pick or it is off to PSD he goes.

  8. What do these clubs get for their $30k. I suspect that is what has stopped us participating. But really what guarantees do the clubs have for spending this money that another club may not just draft the irish player they are looking at.

If we have the no 1 pick and an Irish kid identified through this thing is good enough to be number one what stops us from selecting him. Or is Ricky Nixon trying to tamper with the draft ???

  9. what about a good old fashioned tin rattle at games. Ideas like sticking money in a box and sending it to the club are good, but the reality is most of us will never really get around to sending it. Rattling tins at the ground (bit like what Tigs did for Save Our Skins) would get all that loose change being handed to the club.

  10. I can't believe that we have that high a number with the problems we face. The ex members should be ashamed of themselves there is no excuse not to be a member.

There was a thread about the call around the Demonology members did to lapsed members over the last couple of weeks, and the resounding response was purely financial as the reason people were not renewing.

I guess footy membership V the mortgage is one where unfortunately for the MFC the mortgage will win more often than not.

So I guess there is no reason for them to be ashamed, and sometimes there is a valid reason.

Just so you know I am not one of the lapsed members. Am a chairmans members and have my wife and two kids joined up.

  11. Please..again I draw no conclusion and no aspersion meant ( probably none taken ..just in case :) ) just curious. That would indeed be a fair enough reason and, hey his money. All sounds good. Hope all this comes about. Curiosu whom it is. Still s'pose a little time will illumiminate :)

none taken. I would like to tell people,as would dad but seriously we can't and it will happen. Hopefully it is actually a first instalment as well.

To be honest I really doubt his name would mean much to most anyway. He is not what you would consider a household name for many.

  12. I think its bloody marvellous that anyone kicks in some money. Thankyou.

( Do I dare raise the cusiosity of why now ? I know thats pandoras box.. but curious )

Anything that deals with the crappy interest we're paying and retires debt is brilliant news.

    1-2 M ..golly.. :)

Dad has been on this blokes back for ages to join the 150 club and to kick some of his sizeable fortune into the club. He has had other priorities in his life of late, and just didn't think that in the past they were on the right track. I guess guys like Stynes just have a certain knack at getting money from people who would not otherwise get involved.

  13. there is a thread about the dollars on demonology. Someone RobbieF knows has kicked in $200k and has joined the 150 club after a phone call from Jimmy Stynes.

Is fact as well although names cant be mentioned not just made up like some stuff on the net. RF is my old man and I know who he is talking about. This guy was offered a spot on the ticket but does not want it at this stage.

  14. how come stephen tingay and andy lovell never come to these sorts of things or never get mentioned, i thought they both did a great job for melbourne when they we're playing for us

I am pretty sure I saw both of them. Definitely saw them on Sat night, but pretty sure they were both there for the walk

  15. I say i was there and didn't feel it much from him. Maybe he did feel it, but he didn't exactly express that to the crowd. Maybe he just didn't want to.

First time back at the club since retirement and has been six years too long - D Schwarz. Maybe that is just the way David expresses his feelings. I have no doubt though that he loves the club

  16. great night. Expect some of the speeches were taped and could be on the MFC website.

G Lyon was the best speech of the night. Never ever ever again can anyone question this mans love for our football club. EVER !

  17. It's very, very clear what Demtriou's stance is on the MFC and 10 teams in Melbourne. He seems to be purposely driving the MFC to its death. He isn't helping by branding the club "wothless" and now saying that our most profitable game of the year is in jeopardy. This has nothing to with giving other clubs who are in need of an event a go, but rather slowly taking things away from us and leaving us with nothing.

Do you honestly believe that ? I just listened to him on MMM and what he said is exactly right. We are in a perilous state on and off the field. To think that AD has it in for our club and wants us to die is just ridiculous. He is making a very clear statement to our "supporters" that if you want the club to survive we are going to have to make it survive because we cannot live on AFL handouts for ever.

I would highly doubt that the AFL have any intention of taking QB off the Dees. It is a wake up call to our supporters that it is time they put up their hand and said yes I want this club to survive and I will support them through thick and thin.

It is about time we stopped playing the victim in all of this nonsense with the AFL and tried to look at our own patch and realise just how bad a state we are in, and the only ones that can fix it are us.
