Sydney has been getting solid crowds since the mid 90s. Lockett and Barassi set them up. It's no surprise that Gold Coast's membership and crowds became static as soon as Ablett left and they crashed again Brisbane, Sydney, GWS and GC simply can't afford to bottom out. Brisbane was on the brink a few years ago. Sydney has been very solid for going on almost 30 years since 1995. GC is going to be on life support until they win a flag. And you can bet the AFL will help them just as they did Brisbane.

A lot of people writing them off but they have talent and will trouble some sides. We *should* win easily but don't count on it. They're okay.

All of my friends are either Carlton or Collingwood. I'd say the ****talking between mates has been pretty steady vs past years but I'm not as prickish. But in talking with other supporters at work, my opinion definitely has more "weight" now. When I tell people I go for Melbourne it's normally met with a, "Ahhh ok" vs the old "LOL you go for Melbourne your opinion is worthless" that I used to get. I definitely enjoy getting stuck into Essendon supporters though. But there's more respect there now from Carlton and Collingwood supporters so I've toned it down a tad.
